India's White-Ball Tour Of Bangladesh Still In Doubt, BCB President Gives Major Update
India's tour of Bangladesh for ODIs and T20Is remains uncertain due to ongoing political unrest and discussions between the cricket boards.
In what has come as a major update on India's upcoming tour of Bangladesh, where the two nations were supposed to play white-ball games, is still in the doldrums, and a final confirmation is still awaited, with the two concerned boards still in discussion over certain factors.
Aminul Islam, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, said that the BCCI is waiting for their government's decision on the upcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh are scheduled to host India for three ODIs and as many T20Is from Sunday, August 17, but that looks doubtful under the present political situation.
'We're having positive discussions with the BCCI. It's not like (hosting India) in August or September, we are having discussions on how we can do the series, and if we cannot host it now, we will do it at another possible time," Aminul told the media on Monday.
Bangladesh today commenced the murder trial of student activist Abu Sayeed, whose death during an anti-government protest in 2024 ignited a nationwide movement leading to the ouster of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League regime.
Sayeed, a 23-year-old student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, was shot dead by police on July 16, 2024, during demonstrations against the then Hasina government.
Videos and images of Sayeed, showing him standing with arms outstretched before being shot, were broadcast, fuelling nationwide public outrage.
Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal accepted the prosecution's charges against 30 individuals, including the former vice chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Hasibur Rashid, court officials said.
The tribunal issued arrest warrants for 26 of the accused, while four, the university's former proctor, two policemen and a leader of the now disbanded Awami League's student front Chhatra League, are already in jail.
Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam submitted a charge sheet, alleging that Sayeed's killing was part of a systematic crackdown ordered by the then-prime minister and executed by senior police officials.
Since then, Bangladesh has been boiling, with continuous protests raging in the country, presumably due to which the Indian government is still pondering sending the team.

Sitharaman highlighted that this deters long-term investment and delays critical progress in areas like renewable energy and climate-resilient infrastructure. Stressing that India stands at a unique crossroads, she said, "the aspirations of a billion people converge with the imperatives of a fast-changing planet. And in this moment, policy will determine pace. India has demonstrated how scale and speed can go hand-in-hand." Through transformative policy initiatives like UPI, Aadhaar and Jan Dhan, India has driven financial inclusion even to the last-mile, she said. India's policy ecosystem has been further strengthened by programmes such as the Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the National Green Hydrogen Mission and installation of over 220 GW of renewable energy capacity to accelerate clean energy transition, she said, adding, these efforts are complemented by a commitment to macroeconomic stability. "As we strive towards the 2030 agenda, the financing gap for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries has widened to over USD 4.2 trillion annually post-pandemic, reflecting the widening gap between ambition and reality," she said.

ED arrests Delhi man in ₹903 crore Chinese app fraud case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested one of the alleged masterminds of a Chinese app investment fraud case and conducted searches on five premises in Delhi on Friday (July 4, 2025). The accused, identified as Rohit Vij, was arrested as part of the probe into a money laundering charge, based on a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Hyderabad police in 2022. It was alleged that certain Chinese individuals, in conspiracy with some Indian nationals, defrauded people on the false promise of phenomenal returns on investments through their app named 'Loxam', claiming that it was related to a reputed French multinational group of the same name. 'The investigation revealed that the tainted money was collected in the bank account of a shell entity, Xindai Technologies Private Limited, formed in the name of an Indian person, on the instructions of a Chinese national named Mr. Jack, who took the Internet Banking credentials and routed the funds through 38 mule accounts,' the agency said. The funds were subsequently converted into foreign currencies allegedly with the help of Mr. Vij and his associates through Delhi-based shell money changer entities – Ranjan Money Corp and KDS Forex – controlled by them. 'The tainted amount was converted into foreign currencies, mostly in U.S. dollar & UAE (United Arab Emirates) dirham and provided it to the Chinese perpetrators through 'hawala' channels,' the probe agency said. According to the ED, ₹171.47 crore was laundered through Xindai Technologies. 'However, analysis of bank accounts of Ranjan Money Corp and KDS Forex showed that within a period of seven months, these entities, under the control and operation of Mr. Vij, have converted ₹903 crore of similar tainted money,' said the ED. Mr. Vij has been taken into a 5-day ED custody for recording of his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Family of Ganjam worker anxious after 3 Indians abducted in Mali
1 2 Berhampur: Family members of a 28-year-old Ganjam worker are anxious that he might be among the three Indians abducted from a cement factory in Kayas, Mali, on July 1. Since July 1, the family is unable to communicate with P Venkatraman, who is working at the Diamond Cement Factory since Nov last year after being recruited through a Mumbai-based company, and fears he might be among those abducted. His mother, P Narasama (50), of Samarajhol village in Ganjam district's Hinjili, last spoke to him on June 30. "I am very worried about my son's fate and request the govt to ensure his safe return. The ministry of external affairs (MEA) has expressed serious concern over the abduction of Indian workers. While no group has claimed responsibility, Al-Qaeda affiliate, Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), claimed responsibility for multiple coordinated attacks across Mali on the same day.
