Liverpool now expect €100m forward to replace Luis Diaz
Diaz, 28, joined Liverpool back in January 2022 from Porto for an initial £37.5m. It's fair to say fans waited a while to see the winger at his consistent best - but he scored 13 goals in the top flight last season to help the Reds to the title.
But the problem for Diaz is his contract. He remains on the same terms he signed when he completed his transfer from the Portuguese league.
And Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is not minded to furnish him with a contract which meets the Colombian international's demands.
€100m Diaz a target for Bayern
He would like £140k to £150k per week to renew with Liverpool - and the club have given NO indication that are willing to match that sum.
And with his deal expiring in 2027, Liverpool could opt to sell while Diaz's value remains high and fund a replacement from his transfer fee.
Bayern Munich have been told to pay €100m for Diaz while Barcelona look out of the equation at this stage.
Should Bayern - or Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia - reach Liverpool's target then he will be on his way. And if Diaz goes a decision will need to be made on filling his berth in the squad.
How will Liverpool replace Diaz?
Will Cody Gakpo and perhaps Florian Wirtz be enough?
Will Rio Ngumoha step up?
Or will a replacement come from the transfer market?
The dream would be to add Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid - an old Liverpool target who opted for the Bernabeu when leaving Santos back in 2019.
The Brazil international has won TWO Champions League titles since then but looks likely to be squeezed out by Xabi Alonso this summer.

Liverpool consider shock move for Premier League forward linked with Barcelona
FC Barcelona's sporting department is working to sign a winger to reinforce the team's attack ahead of the upcoming season. After Nico Williams' decision to renew with Athletic Club until 2035, two main candidates remain: Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford. The Liverpool ace would require a significantly higher financial outlay than the Manchester United outcast, who could potentially arrive on loan. However, Barcelona are not the only club interested in securing Rashford's services for the upcoming season. Liverpool eyeing Rashford? Indeed, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are also considering the signing of the Manchester United forward, who will turn 28 in late October. The Reds are on the lookout for a new striker and have Alexander Isak of Newcastle United as their top priority. However, with the Magpies refusing to sell, alternatives are being explored. Rashford will leave Manchester United. (Photo by) And, one of the names that has been put on the table is that of Rashford, although there has been no progress made on that front so far. Rashford is not part of Manchester United's plans, and the Red Devils are seeking a way out for him in the coming weeks. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and could leave Old Trafford again on loan for the new campaign. As has already been reported, Rashford's priority is to play for Barcelona, and he is willing to wait as long as necessary. However, it will be interesting to see whether the possibility of staying close to home by signing for Liverpool, should they consider making a move, tempts the 27-year-old.
