Oregon Football listed as 'team to beat' for one of top DL in 2027 class
All focus over the past few weeks has been on the 2026 recruiting class for the Oregon Ducks, but behind the scenes, Dan Lanning and his staff have quietly been making a strong push down the road as well.
Earlier this week, Rivals' recruiting director Adam Gorney gave a breakdown on the recruitment for some of the top players in the 2027 class, and he stated that the Ducks are the "team to beat" for 4-star defensive tackle Kasi Currie, who stands at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds. As a California native from Sierra Canyon, Oregon has been an early name to watch in the recruitment for Currie, who the 247Sports Composite rates as the No. 156 player in the class, and No. 13 defensive lineman.
"Emerging as one of the top 2027 defensive tackles nationally, Oregon has a big early edge for the Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon standout as he's loved his trips to Eugene and will be back on June 1," Gorney wrote.
While it is still early in his recruitment, and offers continue to pour in for the fast-rising sophomore, Lanning and his team have put themselves in a good position early on. They will have to battle some other big names down the stretch, though.
"Texas A&M, Tennessee, and USC are three others to watch, and LSU just offered on Tuesday," Gorney said. "But Oregon is definitely the team to beat."
Currie was on campus in Eugene for the Ducks' spring game, and he plans to return on June 1 later this summer.
The Ducks don't have any commitments in the 2027 class, but Currie would be a great player to kick things off should he give his verbal in the coming months.

Big Ten Network personality Jake Butt picks teams for 2025 Big Ten title game

Another Big Ten football media days is in the books, and now we can focus our attention towards the start of fall camp and the buildup to the start of the 2025 college football season. Ohio State will be defending its College Football Playoff national championship and will look to add a couple of goals it missed out on last season -- winning the Big Ten and beating Michigan. That's not as easy as it used to be with the addition of former Pac-12 schools from the West Coast -- Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and USC-- and with Michigan and Penn State rising up to become national powers as well. The Big Ten has closed the gap on the SEC and created one of its own as the best conference in the country, and it should be another fantastic season in 2025. So, who has the advantage in making the Big Ten Championship game? Ohio State and Penn State are expected to be the best teams this year according to most of the media, but that's not what Jake Butt from the Big Ten Network thinks. In a segment on social media, Butt provided his picks for teams that will play in Indianapolis, and he omitted Ohio State, picking Penn State to tussle with Oregon instead. It's all opinion, of course, and it's not like the Ducks aren't a program to reckon with almost annually now, so there's that. But Butt not identifying his alma mater, Michigan or the Buckeyes, is an interesting take, especially considering Oregon lost as much talent as OSU. But never fear Ohio State fans, Butt did mention Ohio State as one of the teams that will contend for a College Football Playoff spot -- so there's at least that. Ohio State defending its title and having a shot at a conference crown will largely depend on the production it gets at the quarterback spot and how well the defense plugs some of those gaps lost to the NFL. It won't take long to see how those questions are answered because the Buckeyes open up against Texas in Week 1. Let the countdown continue. Big Ten players asked which uniforms were the best and their answer isn't surprising

B1G players share their favorite jerseys:🦆 Dogs or cats? Star Trek or Star Wars? These are the type of questions you might hear at a conference media day. The type of questions that are pertinent to this college football season, and in particular, the Big Ten season. The right answers are cats and Star Trek, by the way. At Big Ten media days in Las Vegas, which was a three-day event, players from around the conference were asked a myriad of questions, and the subject of the best uniforms happened to come up. In a recent mash up of answers that were posted on TicTok, the overwhelming winner was the Ducks. Players had to name a team, other than their own, whose uniforms were the best in the Big Ten. While Oregon's uniforms won out, with 13 players saying the Ducks because of the colors and the number of combinations they can throw at you, it's interesting that UCLA received two votes and USC garnered a couple of votes as well. The three relative newcomers to the league had all the votes, and none went to the more traditional schools such as Michigan or Ohio State. Oregon was the first team to start the uniform craze, and while some have tried to duplicate them, the Ducks are still leading the way. Whether it's the traditional green, the highlighter yellow, or the stormtrooper whites, Oregon always looks sharp on the field, and opponents still notice.

Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kevin Riley

Entering year two playing for his hometown team, could the 2025 season mark a breakout campaign for Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kevin Riley? A native of the Tuscaloosa area, Riley is coming off a true freshman season a year ago in which he did not see much action for the Crimson Tide. However, Riley came to Tuscaloosa as one of the highest-rated running backs in his recruiting class, and is a player who is certainly capable of emerging this season to potentially become a key contributor of Alabama's running back room. Here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama running back Kevin Riley entering the 2025 season. Kevin Riley player information Kevin Riley career stats Entering year two of college football, Riley is coming off a true freshman season in which he did not play much for the Crimson Tide. Last season, Riley played in only two games where he rushed for 30 yards on 10 attempts, while also hauling in two receptions for nine yards. Kevin Riley 2024 stats As mentioned previously, Riley appeared in only two games during the 2024 season, which came against Western Kentucky and Mercer. Over that span, Riley rushed for 30 yards on 10 attempts, and caught two passes for nine yards. Kevin Riley recruiting ranking According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Riley came to Alabama considered as the nation's No. 75 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 3 running back nationally. Riley, a four-star prospect who committed to Alabama in Dec. 2023 when he flipped from Miami, was also ranked the No. 7 player in the state of Alabama where he attended Tuscaloosa County High School. Kevin Riley 2025 season outlook When taking a look at Riley's potential impact this season, it is currently an unknown surrounding what the former four-star prospect's role might be. As to why, that is because Alabama's running back room returns two big names in starter Jam Miller and Richard Young, while also having added an experienced transfer in Dre Washington. However, Riley could also potentially emerge in that group as well, as the redshirt freshman could make an impact in multiple different ways from the running back position. Overall, expect Riley to improve on his season totals from a year ago, and to be a backup option at running back who could potentially emerge later in the season.
