Robert Hickmott preparing challenging campaign for Melbourne Cup prospect Revelare
The aspiring spring stayer, a six-time winner from eight starts, is set to have a jumpout at Ballarat on Thursday.
Revelare has not been sighted publicly since winning at Flemington on March 1, before an untimely illness thwarted a bid to contest the Cup-qualifying Roy Higgins Quality.
Revelare sparked early Cups potential chatter with five wins on the trot, going from 0-64 at Seymour to BM84 Flemington success, in eight weeks.
'He's matured a hell of a lot,' Hickmott said.
'He's got to go a long way to even think about getting into a Melbourne Cup or anything like that … but so far so good.
'He's been a bit lazy the old boy at home, so it will be nice to poke around on the Poly (track) to get him up and about a bit.'
Hickmott has the Cup-qualifying The Bart Cummings (2500m) – October 4 at Flemington – lined up as the 'main goal' to get into the race that stops a nation.

Hickmott conceded Revelare potentially faced 'a very hard' Caulfield program, including a 1600m Benchmark 100, Listed Heatherlie Stakes (1700m) and Group 3 Foundation Cup (2000m) before The Bart Cummings at Flemington.
Hickmott, who trained Melbourne Cup winners Green Moon (2012) and Almandin (2016), is realistic about the task ahead of Revelare.
'Hope he can handle Caulfield, otherwise we're in a bit of strife,' Hickmott said.
'He's shown good versatility the horse, for a lightly-raced horse, he's ticking a lot of boxes.
'You got to take into account (Revelare has) off-season racing (form), Benchmark racing, although he broke track records.
'He's still got to come up from preparation to preparation … who knows? Only time will tell.'

Footy world stunned by Jake Stringer act against his old club
Jake Stringer looks to be settling in beautifully at the GWS Giants and it is not sitting well with his last AFL stop. The 31-year-old Stringer has been a polarising figure across his 223-game career with the Bulldogs, Bombers and now Giants. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1. An All-Australian back in 2015 and a six-time club leading goalkicker, Stringer has also had off-field issues and left both the Dogs and Essendon on bad terms. Facing the Bombers for the first time since ending his 123-game stint with the Melbourne club, Stringer said pre-match on Fox Footy he was 'hoping for a few boos'. He didn't need to worry about that, with the boos raining down whenever he touched the footy against his injury-ravaged club. Unfortunately for Essendon fans, that happened a lot, with Stringer playing a starring role as the Giants built a big lead at Marvel Stadium. Journalist and Bombers fan Caspar McLeod tweeted pre-game: 'Jake Stringer … please take it easy on us.' The powerfully built 192cm forward had other ideas, however, stamping his authority on the game in the second term. GWS only took a seven-point lead into quarter-time before Stringer burst into action. Midway through the second term, he was booed when he tried to take a mark and again when a forward entry ended up in his vicinity. He then got his moment from a ball-up in the forward 50m, when Kieren Briggs tapped the ball to Stringer, who had an open goal ahead of him. But he opted to handball to young teammate Max Gruzewski, who kicked the goal. 'Wow. Wow. Jake Stinger, that is awesome,' David King said on Fox Footy. 'We've seen him do this at centre bounce clearances over the last few years, but from forward 50 stoppage I'm not sure I've seen him do much of this.' Jack Riewoldt added: 'I love this. I think it shows where Jake Stringer's mindset is, coming up against his old side. 'He gives this away to the young player Gruzewski and this shows where his mindset is at, the team player Jake Stringer is.' King then joked: 'And in true forward fashion, he handballed it so poorly he was a chance to get it back.' Just 10 secs of game time later, Tom Green found Stringer on the lead and he took the uncontested mark as the boos rained down again. 'The booing is the loudest we've heard Bombers fans all night,' Mark Howard said in commentary. 'Stringer gave the last one off, he's been in a rich vein of goalkicking form. 'Six-time leading goalkicker, off four last week, from 50 Stringer … Essendon cannot kick a goal and the Giants cannot miss.' That stretched the Giants' lead to 28 points as they started to pull away. 'They get to him, they know what this means to Jake,' King said after he kicked his first. 'He's probably circled this one in the calendar, a lot of unhappy Bombers fans. 'He's just been so good to watch this guy for a long period of time, he's a 'moments' player.' Gruzewski's goal sparked a run of four gin seven minutes to break the game open before debutant Liam McMahon finally responded with Essendon's first goal. Dating back to last week's dreadful performance against Richmond, the Bombers had gone 92 minutes of game time between goals. Early in the third term, Stringer intercepted a handball and threw the ball on his left foot and found Callum Brown, who missed his set shot. The premiership player with the Dogs then pulled off a spectacular mark after a forward entry from Toby Bedford and snapped the goal for his second of the night. 'Wow, they have recruited a highlights package, there's no doubt about that the Giants,' King said. 'He's just starting to find his feet in this line up. I tell you what, this is when you want him rolling, back half of the year.' He had three goals by three quarter-time and it's fair to say Bombers fans weren't enjoying the show and many watching on were keen to comment on the persistent booing. 'Lol who's booing Jake Stringer? He got pushed out of the club for a bag of potato chips, please,' was one comment on X. Richmond fan Paul White tweeted: 'Bomber fans booing Jake Stringer. So on point for those in red and black.' Jasper Chellappah offered: 'I have never seen Jake Stringer pass a goal off before, let alone running into an open goal.' A fourth wrote: 'Why boo Jake Stringer? He didn't leave. Essendon chose to move him on. ' The Giants' X account then got in on the action. 'The crowd here really like Jake Stringer,' they tweeted. Another fan gushed: 'I am feeling proud of Jake Stringer tonight, that play showed him being a teammate and towards the young player, and the goal for himself he deserves that, it was a great goal too. Just ignore the noise. Well done.' It's only early in Stringer's time with the Giants, but he's made a promising start as he makes his mark away from the Melbourne footy bubble.

The Form: Complete NSW Racing thoroughbred form, including video replays and all you need to know about every horse, jockey and trainer. Find a winner here! TAMWORTH BEST BET Race 7 No. 10: SAINTLY SANDS Huge run on debut here; even better the next time here as well. NEXT BEST Race 2 No. 3: WANAVAN Won't be left with any excuses from the rails draw. VALUE Race 3 No. 3: HE'STHECHIEF Placed at three of four, lost the rider in the other one. QUADDIE Race 5: 3, 6, 7, 14 Race 6: 2, 4, 5, 6 Race 7: 1, 10 Race 8: 2, 5, 6, 9 Jockey Grant Buckley has a nice book of rides at Tamworth. Picture: Bradley Photos JOCKEY TO FOLLOW GRANT BUCKLEY could be in for a good day. ALBURY BEST BET Race 2 No. 3: STRAIGHT FIRE Arguably 'the best horse in the race' which is a good place to start. NEXT BEST Race 8 No. 6: JUST LUKE LIAM Has a good record at the home track and at this trip. VALUE Race 6 No. 4: ELLIS BEACH Might be the best of a questionable bunch. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ INSIDE MAIL - TAMWORTH RACE 5: McDonalds Tamworth (Bm58) 1400m CONSIDERED (7) is a So You Think granddaughter of Kiss From A Rose which belies her $30,000 price-tag. Chalk her up as another bargain for Group One Thoroughbreds; she's already won back her purchase price in four starts. Last start winner, drawn well, at home. VISUALISE (6) has been rock solid in his four runs since he got to local trainer Jacob Perrett's stable. Beaten a lip at this track and trip by To Be Frank the other day. Bet: Considered to win, quinella 6, 7 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 6: Koobah Performance Horses (Bm82) 1600m RAJNISH (5) has raced at Tamworth twice for a second and then that last start win which also happened to be over the mile. It was a very comprehensive victory too; he came from off the speed to chase down a very respectable bunch. WEALTHY INVESTOR (6) won his fourth race at start 41 out at Dubbo on June 29 but for one, he won very easily indeed and two, his poor win record is more a reflection of some of the strong races he has contested. Bet: Rajnish to win, Daily Double 1st Leg 5, 2nd Leg 6 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 7: Kel Penfold Finance Country Boosted (Bm58) 1200m SAINTLY SANDS (10) turned in a fantastic debut here when third to a nice style of horse in Savethebesttilast back on January 6. The Rodney Northam trained filly came back to Tamworth 17 days later and won her 1400m Maiden. Spelled, no public trials, but she is clearly handy filly in a top barn. DEEBO (1) boasts some outstanding figures right across the board but those home track, and trip, numbers are hard to go past. Bet: Saintly Sands to win, exacta 10 to beat 1, quinella 1, 10 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 8: Concrete Industry Supplies (Bm82) 1000m ZAKOR (6) has always raced well at Tamworth from the day he broke his Maiden here way back as a two-year-old prior to his fourth in the Romantic Dream. The Justin Bowen-trained gelding tries his heart out every time, if he gets beaten it is usually either bad luck or he just wasn't quite good enough on the day. SPECK (8) resumes on a hat-trick, bearing in mind that the second of the sequence was a Randwick TAB Highway. WHO GOES HERE (3) is four from four at the track and trip. Bet: Zakor each-way ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ INSIDE MAIL - ALBURY RACE 5: Plus Fitness Thurgoona Mdn Plate 900m LUNAR MOJO (1) has been awfully costly to follow but at the same time he has placed at six of his eight starts and four of them are seconds. On top of that he has two seconds and a third from four Albury runs and has twice placed second on Heavy It's now or never again. FITZALAN (6) led and was passed late on debut at Wangaratta, One would imagine that is the modus operandi again here from barrier 2. MACHETE (8) is trained here now and was good in her two Victorian runs. Bet: Lunar Mojo to win ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 6: Jindera Tyre Service Mdn Hcp 1400m ELLIS BEACH (4) is having his first run for the new management. It will be his first run in NSW as well but he is fit for purpose on the score of a July 7 trial (ran second) at home at Wangaratta. Finds a winnable race. Not sold on the Heavy form of POWERFUL MAJIK (5) but he ran a good race here on debut. CAYMAN ISLAND (7) turned in his best career run when fourth to a handy horse at Wagga at $101. Bet: Ellis Beach to win, Daily Double 1st Leg 4, 2nd Leg 6 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 7: Wello's Plumbing Plate (C1) 1600m BLAZING SWORD (5) is a Bendigo-housed three-year-old who shares his name with Contract Racing's exceptional late 1980s colt who ended up as a stallion in Thailand. The 2021 model of Blazing Sword has a tidy little resume of one win, three seconds and a third in his 10 starts. Best of all, the son of Too Darn Hot has a win and a third on his only two Heavy runs. GOOFINATOR (10) sent out some rather positive signs second-up that a win was close at hand. FLUTTERBY (6) is flying. Bet: Blazing Sword to win ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 8: Kiewa Valley Spring Water (Bm58) 1500m JUST LIKE LIAM (6) is from the 17th and final crop of Albert Stapleford's beloved Magic Albert, a great little over-achiever at stud he was too. Anyway, Just Like Liam is trained here at Albury by Garry Worsnop; 11 times he has raced there for two wins and three placings. He has also won at the track and distance. FREDDY'S SHOCK (10) ran second to Sorry Sunshine on a Heavy 10 at Wagga last start. Both are clearly in the mix here. As is RUSHFORD (1) who was fifth in that same race. Bet: Just Like Liam to win
