French-Moroccan restaurateur faces racist attack in La Roche-Posay

Hasna, a mother of three and a French-Moroccan restaurateur who recently moved to La Roche-Posay (Vienne), was attacked on Saturday, July 19, in front of her restaurant, Le Casablanca. She recounts being subjected to racist insults, physical assault, and sexual aggression. «I am completely shattered. Why so much hatred? I just feel like I'm not welcome here», she told France Bleu, still in shock.
On that day, two men appeared at her door. One had already confronted her a few days earlier after she refused to serve intoxicated customers. She stepped outside alone to meet them, asking her husband to stay inside the restaurant. One of the attackers immediately «groped her buttock». «I felt his hand squeezing my buttock», she recounts. Another, younger man, struck her. She fell to the ground. «I took several blows, to my buttocks, knees, face, and chest».
The insults were vicious. Despite the pain, Hasna repeats them: «They called me a filthy Arab, said I have no place in La Roche-Posay (...)». Words that cut as deeply as the physical blows, if not more. When the police arrived, Hasna hoped for protection. Yet, the attackers were not detained. «What traumatized me even more was watching them walk away, smiling. (...) I didn't understand. [The police] told me they were sorry, but I am sorrier for myself having been attacked.»
The medical report lists pain in the coccyx, shoulder, ribs, knee, and describes a «great psychological distress». Since the attack, Hasna has been living in seclusion, relying on anti-anxiety medication and sleeping pills. «I have nightmares where they rape me, beat me, beat my children, burn me in my home», she confides.
She filed a complaint on July 20. The Poitiers prosecutor's office has not commented on the case. Meanwhile, the mayor of La Roche-Posay, Pascale Moreau, expressed being «shocked» by the events. «I do not accept and denounce any form of aggression and violence», she added.

Achraf Hakimi's lawyer highlights inconsistencies in the complainant's account

Achraf Hakimi's lawyer told RMC Sport: «In cases of rape or sexual assault, we find in 99.9% of them psychological assessments indicating symptoms, post-traumatic stress, nightmares, weight gain, weight loss. However, in this case, none of that is present». On Friday, the public prosecutor's office in Nanterre, France, officially requested that Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi be referred to the regional criminal court in the Hauts-de-Seine department on charges of rape, an accusation the player has consistently denied, maintaining his innocence. «The prosecution, which represents the accusing party, is doing its job by trying to gather evidence that could incriminate the accused», the lawyer continued. «But I've reviewed the case file, and I can confirm there are numerous elements that exonerate my client». «It will be up to the defense to highlight these elements. In this case, we will fight to the end for the truth to come out, and for it to be said and heard that Achraf Hakimi said nothing, did nothing, and is not guilty». She also said she felt «calm» about the possibility of a trial, questioning the complainant's account, which she described as «contradictory». requested access to the complainant's phone to review messages she had not previously provided. Among the texts was one sent at midnight, in which the woman wrote to a friend, «Oh, I'm so angry, haha». Her friend Nadia replied with an unusual suggestion: «Listen to the song À l'abri by Fresh La Peufra» which opens with the lyrics, «I had no choice, I had to take risks to protect the family». Nadia went on to advise Amelie: «Go to him with the persona of a seductive woman», and followed up with a suspicious message: «Try to get the codes and everything», before adding, «We will rob him», and concluding with, «We are girls from the street». During his interrogation, Hakimi recounted: «We were exchanging text messages. She told me she was working, and I respected that. We continued exchanging kisses, which became a bit longer, and I placed my hand on her lower back. Then she told me: nothing will happen on the first meeting. I respected her stance and said, 'Okay.' We continued kissing, but she was using her phone again» The incident allegedly took place on February 25, 2023, when a 24-year-old woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by Hakimi at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt. This followed about a month of texting on Instagram, culminating in their first in-person meeting. According to her account, Hakimi arranged an Uber to bring her to his home, where she says he harassed and assaulted her despite her clear refusal. She also mentioned sending a text message to a friend asking for help, something her friend later confirmed to police. Later that same day, the woman went to a police station in the Paris suburbs to give her testimony, though she initially chose not to file an official complaint. On March 3, 2023, Hakimi was formally charged with rape.

Spanish Young Woman Retracts Sexual Assault Allegations Against Moroccan in Ferrol

A young woman has admitted that she had made up a sexual assault complaint filed at the Ferrol National Police Station against a Moroccan residing in Spain. The Spanish media outlet Elmundo reported that the 18-year-old woman admitted to investigators that she fabricated the allegations. She initially reported being sexually assaulted in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Investigators summoned her to the police station Friday afternoon after they detected 'inconsistencies' in her narratives, leading the woman to acknowledge, in the presence of her lawyer, that her complaint was fabricated. The original complaint had led to serious criminal proceedings, with the woman having accused a young Moroccan man of rape and brutal assault in the Plaza de Espana in the early morning on Tuesday. In her initial account of the fictive incident, the woman described a violent attack that allegedly required emergency medical treatment at the Ferrol University Hospital Complex. Her initial statement indicated that four young men were present in the Plaza de Espana area that morning, though she claimed only one had assaulted her. Police arrested the suspect, who is a Moroccan with a criminal record, immediately following the complaint. He had been held at the police station since Wednesday and had not yet been brought before a court, as the National Police investigation remained ongoing. Authorities are now reviewing the detention status of the arrested individual, while the woman faces potential charges of false accusation, which carry serious legal consequences under Spanish law. Earlier Friday, before the retraction, Pedro Blanco, the Government delegate in Galicia, told the press that 'all lines of investigation were open' and that additional arrests were not being ruled out, including individuals 'in the victim's circle.' Rape is 'a criminal offense' that is 'absolutely reprehensible and repugnant,' Blanco elaborated. He concluded that there would be 'every response, first from the police and then the courts, to punish the guilty party.' Tags: Moroccan arrestedSexual assaultSpainYoun Spanish women

Young woman in Spain admits to false rape accusation against Moroccan man

An 18-year-old woman has withdrawn a report she filed last Wednesday morning with the National Police Commission in Ferrol, a city in northwestern Spain, accusing a Moroccan man of rape. According to official sources cited by the newspaper El Mundo, the young woman later admitted she had «fabricated the entire story». The newspaper reported that police investigators identified several «inconsistencies» in her statements, leading them to summon her again on Friday afternoon for further questioning. In the presence of her lawyer, she confessed to the police that her report was false. The young woman had accused a Moroccan man, along with three others, of raping and brutally assaulting her between one and two o'clock on Wednesday morning near Plaza España in Ferrol. This alleged incident led her to seek emergency care at the city's university hospital. The Moroccan man, who has a criminal record and was already under a deportation order, was arrested immediately after the report was filed. He has been held in police custody since Wednesday, without being brought before the judiciary, pending the outcome of the investigation. Following the young woman's admission of fabricating the accusation, the detained man's status is expected to be reassessed. Meanwhile, the young woman now faces charges of filing a false report, which could result in severe criminal penalties under Spanish law.
