Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Vakola police on Monday lodged a case of abetment to suicide and extortion against the two suspects; they are yet to be arrested. The CA had earlier filed a complaint that the two had been threatening him. A police officer said the CA's mother found three suicide notes stating that he was forced to withdraw money from the family's savings as well as siphon off sums from his company's account to pay off the suspects. Vakola police are looking into the company's accounts for such withdrawals. The officer said a little after the CA went to sleep on Saturday, he called his mother, who found him throwing up. She sought help from the neighbours and rushed him to a hospital. Police learned from the mother that the CA had been depressed since the two suspects visited their home on June 7, and allegedly threatened to reveal his relationship with them and post intimate videos online. "They visited his home after he filed a complaint against them for repeatedly threatening him," the officer said. In her complaint, the mother said: "I gained my son's confidence and asked him to share the problem. He revealed that he befriended [the two suspects] in 2024 through social media. Since then, they had been extorting money from him, forcing him to transfer funds from his bank account." Of the three suicide notes, one was addressed to his mother and the second to his company. Two arrested for posing as women and cheating man of Rs 4.5 lakh with marriage promise

Noida: Two men from Delhi were arrested for allegedly posing as young, unmarried women on social media to cheat people by soliciting friendships and then taking money from them on various pretexts. The accused, Amit alias Aarav (23) and Mohd Rizwan (24), created fake profiles on platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to befriend and deceive men with promises of romance and marriage, police said. They were held on Sunday. According to police, the duo would adopt names, such as "Mansi", "Sanju", and "Nandani", and use stolen photos of women to create convincing online identities. They would initiate conversations, express interest in marriage, and slowly gain the trust of their targets. Once emotionally involved, the victims were asked to send money on various pretexts, including medical emergencies, family troubles and wedding-related expenses. Police registered a case under the BNS and the IT Act and launched an investigation. Using electronic surveillance and social media data, they tracked and arrested the suspects. Two mobile phones and a motorbike were recovered from their possession. Cops are now trying to ascertain how long the duo had been operating and how many people may have fallen prey to their scheme. They suspect the involvement of more people in the racket. "People must exercise caution while using social media to meet new people and refrain from sharing personal or financial details with strangers," the DCP said.

FIR lodged against Yash Dayal in sexual exploitation case

Lucknow: An FIR was registered against cricketer Yash Dayal in Ghaziabad on Monday for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman from the NCR, reports Pathikrit Chakraborty. The victim claims that Dayal sexually exploited her under the pretence of marriage. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The cricketer has been accused of making false promises of marriage while maintaining a relationship with her for several years. The victim initially filed a complaint with the CM office's portal on June 21, 2025. A week ago, Ghaziabad police recorded the woman's statement, but Dayal is yet to give his statement to the authorities, cops say. Additional police commissioner of Ghaziabad, Alok Priyadarshi, confirmed to TOI that the FIR under BNS 69 (sexual intercourse through deceitful means) has been filed against Yash Dayal. He also mentioned that the police would soon arrest the cricketer, and a medical examination of the victim would be conducted shortly. The victim claims that she first met Yash Dayal in 2019 through social media, leading to their conversations on Instagram. She alleges that Dayal promised to marry her, and they maintained a physical relationship. According to her, Dayal took her to various locations, including Bengaluru, Delhi, and Prayagraj, during their relationship. Whenever she insisted on marriage, he reportedly asked her to wait until he got settled in his career. However, the woman claims that Dayal's behaviour changed recently. About a month ago, he began ignoring her, blocked her on social media platforms, and ultimately refused to marry her. When she confronted him, she alleges that he physically assaulted her. The victim had previously posted on social media, tagging the CM, seeking justice. In her post, she shared a photo with Dayal and detailed how their relationship continued for five years. The woman also alleged that Dayal was involved with several other women during their time together. On June 14, 2025, the victim sought help from the Women's Helpline 181, but she claims no action was taken by the police. She provided the authorities with screenshots, chats, and video call records as evidence.
