Car Deal of the Day: grab a quirky Genesis GV60 for £330 a monthCar Deal of the Day: a quirky slice of Korean luxury for £330 a month
Quirky design and interior
Platform shared with brilliant Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6
It's not an easy job to give EVs some personality, but the lovable Genesis GV60 succeeds where so many others fail. If this quirky little number tickles your fancy, you can now grab one for as little as £330 per month through the Auto Express Find a Car service. Based on the 'Premium Comfort' specification, there's a lot of car on offer for the money here. Advertisement - Article continues below
The deal is over a 36-month term and requires a £4,276 initial payment (including the brokers fee), after which you'll just need to cover the £330.78 monthly fee with a 6,000-mile annual limit.
For this, you'll get a very well equipped GV60 model with a single electric motor producing 228bhp. This is powered from a 77.4kWh battery pack running on a cutting-edge 800V electrical system that'll be able to charge the battery from 10-80 per cent in around 18 minutes at ultra-high speed DC fast chargers. Range is pretty good, at 321 miles, and the car will get from 0 to 62mph in just under 8 seconds.
However, the real reason you'd look at a Genesis over its key rivals is its quirky style and functional interior. The GV60 is very clearly a Genesis, the twin-strake headlights and diamond pattern grille instantly link it to its more conservatively-styled range mates, but then it goes a bit kooky around the rear.
With a short and squat tail, plus a zig-zag piece of chrome up the sides, the GV60 is one of the more eccentric looking electric cars on the market.
Most of the tech inside is drawn from other Genesis models, which is no bad thing. The dual-screen layout is functional, easy to use and has plenty of toys inside to keep even the most digitally savvy owners happy. Space is also great, with plenty of room up front and a wide rear bench that easily fits three across, despite the sloping roofline.

Hyundai Tucson is an appealing family SUV
A facelift of the current version aims to further enhance the appeal of this family SUV thanks to an updated exterior, all-new interior, fresh tech and extra safety features. Redesigned bumpers, larger daytime running lights, revamped alloys, and new colour options form part of the exterior changes. Meanwhile, the cabin has benefited from updates to the dashboard, steering wheel, seats, and infotainment system. The Tucson has been improved by a facelift A wide range of engines are available, with my test car coming in full hybrid guise – with a 212bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine combining with a battery that's big enough for brief stints of electric driving in stop-start traffic. The electric power of the hybrid variant has been increased from 44.2 kW to 47.7 kW, while the plug-in hybrid goes up from 66.9 kW to 72 kW. The four-cylinder turbocharged engine and the electric motor work well in tandem to provide sprightly performance, with the sprint to 60mph taking about eight seconds. There's also plenty of torque, with an official figure of 367Nm when the revs are between 1000 and 3600rpm. The handling feels trustworthy, with precise steering and relatively little body lean in tighter corners. The Tucson's ride is softer than some rivals in the class, but adjustments to the suspension offer greater control than before when passing over bumps and potholes. The interior is a pleasant place to be When it comes to looks, Hyundai's designers have departed from traditional drawing techniques for the Tucson's redesign. Instead, they have used digital technology and geometric algorithms – a method known as 'parametric dynamics' – using digital data to generate lines, angles, and shapes, resulting in bold design aesthetics. It's resulted in some dynamic-looking creases and lines throughout the SUV's exterior, along with some striking geometric patterns described by Hyundai as 'parametric jewels', notably in the Tucson's redesigned front grille. Additionally, a new front bumper design has been introduced, offering glossy black mouldings as an option and a new skid plate for added protection. Once you step inside, the cockpit feels slick and well-crafted, with a new curved display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen in one seamless unit. The distinctive front end of the vehicle The system, part of Hyundai's latest-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, offers crisp graphics and is intuitive to use, while over-the-air updates ensure seamless access to the latest software and infotainment capabilities. In terms of practicality, it's an easy vehicle to live with, thanks to its spacious, user-friendly interior and cavernous boot with a capacity of up to 620 litres. The rear seats can be folded in a 4:2:4 ratio at the press of a button or remotely for added convenience. There are also plenty of creature comforts, including three-zone climate control, front and rear heated seats, and ventilated front seats. All-in-all, the facelift has made the Tucson into an even more desirable family SUV. LG Energy Solution warns of slowing EV battery demand due to U.S. tariffs, policy headwinds
SEOUL, July 25 (Reuters) - South Korean battery firm LG Energy Solution ( opens new tab warned on Friday of a further slowdown in demand by early next year due to U.S. tariffs and policy uncertainties after it posted a quarterly profit jump. Its major customers Tesla TSLA.O and General Motors GM.N warned of fallout from U.S. tariffs and legislation that will end federal subsidies for EV purchases on September 30. "U.S. tariffs and an early end to EV subsidies will put a burden on automakers, potentially leading to vehicle price increases and a slowdown in EV growth in North America," CFO Lee Chang-sil said during a conference call. However, LGES said it expected to improve profits in the second half by boosting production of batteries for energy storage systems (ESS) to offset the sluggish EV demand, while cutting or delaying investment plans. LGES is one of the few U.S. producers of LFP batteries, a battery chemistry long dominated by Chinese rivals. The company said it is considering converting some EV battery production lines in the United States to cater to ESS in response to slowing EV demand. It started production of LFP batteries at its Michigan factory in May, and aims to increase production capacity of ESS batteries to over 30 gigawatt hours (GWh) by next year, up a projected 17 GWh this year. "When LGES operates the plant at full capacity, it could generate subsidies for nearly 2 trillion won ($1.5 billion) ... unlike EV batteries, ESS involves selling full systems rather than just battery cells, which drives up average selling prices and margins," said Kang Dong-jin, an analyst at Hyundai Motor Securities. Kang added that LGES currently stands as the only player in the U.S. market capable of supplying LFP-based ESS, giving it an advantage with virtually no competition. LGES said its operating profit more than doubled in the second quarter, thanks to U.S. subsidies on battery production and stockpiling by some customers there ahead of potential tariffs. It reported an operating profit of 492 billion won ($358.73 million) for the April to June period, versus a profit of 195 billion won a year earlier. LGES would have made a 1.4-billion-won operating profit excluding a tax credit it received under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, LGES said in a regulatory filing. LGES shares were trading down 1.6% after the earnings announcement in morning trade, versus benchmark KOSPI's (.KS11), opens new tab 0.3% rise. ($1 = 1,377.6000 won)

EV battery firm LG Energy sees demand slowdown after Q2 profit jump
SEOUL, July 25 (Reuters) - South Korean battery firm LG Energy Solution ( opens new tab on Friday warned of a slowdown in demand due to U.S. tariffs and policy uncertainties after it posted a quarterly profit jump. LGES, which supplies Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab, General Motors (GM.N), opens new tab and Volkswagen among other automakers, said its operating profit more than doubled in the second quarter, partly due to front-loaded demand as some customers stockpiled batteries ahead of potential U.S. tariffs. It reported an operating profit of 492 billion won ($358.73 million) for the April-June period, versus a 195 billion won profit a year earlier. That compared with a 298 billion won average forecast by LSEG SmartEstimate, which is weighted toward analysts who are more consistently accurate. LGES would have made a 1.4 billion won operating profit excluding a tax credit it received under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, LGES said in a regulatory filing. LGES Shares were down 1.9% after the earnings announcement. Its customers such as GM and Tesla are bracing for further fallout from U.S. tariffs and an additional slowdown in demand for electric vehicles. The United States passed legislation to end federal subsidies for EV purchases on September 30. ($1 = 1,371.5000 won)
