Police investigating case of schoolgirls conned into sending nude photos
Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the teenagers were asked to provide their personal and family information, with the photos supposedly required for cervical and breast cancer examinations.
ACP Hasbullah said someone who claimed to be a teacher contacted the victims via the Telegram messaging app.
"The 'teacher' then introduced the girls to another man who claimed to be a doctor.
"The photos were sent through the same app, as it was claimed that photos would suffice without a physical examination," he said in a press statement on Saturday (July 19).
"The girls realised they had been deceived after informing their real teacher and subsequently lodged a police report, fearing their photos would be spread.
"The case is now being investigated under Section 15(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act," he added.
ACP Hasbullah advised parents and school authorities to be more vigilant regarding sexual offences against children.
"Children and school pupils should always be reminded not to easily give or share their personal details with unfamiliar individuals.
"We also urge people to activate two-step verification on messaging apps to protect their accounts," he said.

Four-year-old boy falls to death from 8th-storey window in Klang
KLANG: A four-year-old boy died after he fell out of an eight-floor flat unit on Friday (Aug 1) morning. According to South Klang deputy OCPD Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah said the incident occurred at the Port Klang Perantau Flats' Block J. "At the time of the incident, the boy's father was at his workplace, and the mother was out of the house sending her second child to the babysitters. "The victim is believed to have fallen out of a window of his home on the eighth floor," said Supt Kamalariffin. He added that police received a distress call reporting the incident from a woman at 8am. According to Supt Kamalariffin, the victim was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here for emergency treatment and pronounced dead during treatment. He said the post-mortem results indicated that the victim had suffered head injuries as a result of falling from a height. He also added that police opened an investigation under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect, which comes with a jail term of not more than 20 years and a fine not exceeding RM50,000. "The police are urging members of the public, with other information pertaining to this incident, to go to the nearest police station or contact the South Klang police at 03-33762222 to help with the investigations," he said.

4 students detained over assault of classmate

Kuala Lumpur: Four 13-year-old students have been detained by the police to assist in investigations into the assault of a classmate at a shopping centre in Kajang. Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the boys were detained following a report lodged by their classmate at 12.57pm yesterday. He said investigations found that the incident occurred at about 11am on July 30, when the complainant and his classmates went to the shopping centre to address a disagreement. 'During the incident, a viral video captured the complainant being assaulted by two students, while two others recorded the act on their mobile phones,' he said in a statement. Naazron added that the victim received medical treatment at a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed to have sustained minor facial injuries. The four students involved were arrested in Kajang at 8.35pm yesterday and remanded for two days until Aug 2 to assist in investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 506 of the same law for criminal intimidation, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. Naazron advised students to obey school rules and to avoid actions that could affect their future.
