Noida man dies in cab accident, family claims driver fell asleep at wheel
Within 20 minutes, however, the vehicle he was in – a Maruti Suzuki WagonR – crashed into a stationary truck on the DND Flyway that connects Noida to Delhi. Arora's daughter, Shriti, claims that the driver of his Uber fell asleep while driving, leading to the fatal outcome.
According to the NDTV report, the 32-year-old driver, named Sudhir, and 59-year-old Rakesh Arora were both rushed to AIIMS. Arora was declared brought dead.
The driver is currently undergoing treatment. 'Doctors have said he is unfit to give a statement, and the final medical opinion is pending. No witnesses have been found,' said an official.

In a thread shared on the social media platform X, Shriti said that the lives of their family had been changed forever because of Uber's negligence. She slammed the ride hailing company for not informing the family of her father's accident, and for blocking his Uber account later.

Shriti further asked who should be held responsible for her father's death, claiming that nobody informed them about the accident. Rakesh Arora's niece, Kanika Gera, said he lay for 45 minutes after the accident as nobody stepped forward to help him.
'For 45 long minutes, he lay there. No ambulance. No medical help. No emergency response,' Gera claimed in a LinkedIn post.
The victim's daughter explained that it was ultimately an Apple notification that informed them about the car crash. She also alleged that police did not help them remove the body from the car.
'Nobody and I mean NOBODY, not Delhi Police or MCD Delhi, helped us to get my father out of the car. We had to yell and plead for them to take us to a hospital,' she wrote.
'All the combined incompetencies took my father's life. I want to call upon a murderer, but I don't know who to pick from the crowd,' the bereaved daughter added.

In a chilling murder late Friday night, prominent Bihar businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead in his car as he was waiting to enter his Patna residence. Because this is what the scriptures call media management, perception management, and image management," he wrote on social-media platform X in Hindi. Earlier in the day, RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari also slammed the state government over the murder, alleging that the state has "descended into lawlessness" under Nitish Kumar's leadership. "Nitish Kumar is no longer fit to remain on the chief minister's chair even for a moment. Bihar has descended into a state of lawlessness... Only the departure of this government will bring good to Bihar," he told news agency ANI.

Gurugram: Faridabad police arrested a 39-year-old Delhi resident, who runs a hotel and nightclub in Dubai, for allegedly orchestrating a ₹2.02 crore cyber fraud in collaboration with a Chinese-linked syndicate, officials said on Friday. (Getty Images) Bhupesh Arora, originally from Karnal and currently residing in northwest Delhi's Rohini Sector 11, operates a four-star hotel and eight nightclubs in Dubai, police said, adding that he was taken into custody on Wednesday upon returning to India and is now on a four-day police remand. According to investigators, Arora and his business partner, also based in Dubai, ran a cyber fraud operation alongside their hospitality ventures. The duo facilitated illegal fund transfers from India to Dubai using payment gateways, later converting the funds into cryptocurrencies and handing them over to Chinese handlers after deducting a commission. Police said Arora was compelled to return to India 20 days back on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court. Faridabad police had got a lookout circular issued for him against which he had moved the high court. Though the court had quashed the circular, it had directed him to come to India and cooperate with the Faridabad police by joining the investigation of the case. Yashpal Yadav, Faridabad Police PRO, said investigators traced Arora through a payment gateway account linked to him, into which ₹2.8 lakh of the duped money was transferred. 'This payment gateway helped us identify Arora. The bank account holder couldn't be traced and may have been created fraudulently,' he said. Arora allegedly retained 30% of the proceeds, with the remaining 70% going to his Dubai-based partner, who liaised directly with the Chinese network, Yadav said. Arora is the 12th person arrested in this case. Police are now pursuing his business partner and three others. 'We will issue an LOC against his partner so he can be arrested on arrival in India,' said Yadav. The victim, whose name police have witheld, a 51-year-old man from Sector 88 in Faridabad, was duped in January 2024 after falling for a fake investment scheme promoted through social media ads. Believing he was investing in stock markets, he transferred ₹2.02 crore to 11 different bank accounts. A case was registered at the Cybercrime Police Station (Central), and police have so far recovered ₹60 lakh, which was returned to the victim. The remaining amount, officers said, had already been siphoned abroad.

Exclusive: Kolkata College Meeting Resolution Shows Trinamool MLA Cleared 'Mango' Mishra's Contract
Kolkata: The governing body of South Calcutta Law College at whose campus a student was allegedly gang raped had passed a resolution to renew the appointment of the accused, Monojit 'Mango' Mishra, in August 2024. 'Mango' Mishra has been sacked now. He had been working as a temporary employee of the college on contract. NDTV has seen a copy of the resolution to renew his contract passed by the college's governing body, whose president is Trinamool Congress MLA Ashok Deb. Mr Deb told the college's vice principal to issue an appointment letter to 'Mango' Mishra, according to the resolution. The governing body's register and the attendance log of temporary employees have been seized for investigation, Kolkata Police sources said. The governing body register has records of all communications and minutes of meetings. According to the college vice principal who is also the governing body's secretary, 'Mango' Mishra signed up as an ad-hoc staffer as per the Bar Council's rules following the increase in the number of academic subjects. He was paid a stipend of Rs 500. However, allegations have surfaced that no process was followed in appointing 'Mango' Mishra. The contract of the man, who now faces allegations of gang rape, was renewed within 45 days and not after six months as mandated by rules, from the expiry of the previous contract. This happened under the supervision of Mr Deb, the Trinamool Congress MLA. Many professors and students were upset with the decision as they knew 'Mango' Mishra had a criminal background. Two other accused in the case, Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, who were still studying in the college, have also been expelled. 'Mango' Mishra took admission in 2013, but was rusticated the same year for allegedly stabbing a man. He resurfaced in 2017, took readmission and graduated in 2022. He describes himself on social media as a practising criminal lawyer. "In December 2016, he was accused of leading a mob of outsiders to vandalise the college premises. FIRs and counter-FIRs were lodged at the Kasba police station in connection with the incident, but for some unknown reason, the cases got dropped," Titas Manna, a former student, told NDTV. There are at least seven first information reports (FIRs) and other complaints filed against 'Mango' Mishra with several police stations in south Kolkata, including many allegations of sex assaults. The college's governing body said it will apply for cancellation of 'Mango' Mishra's Bar Council membership.
