At the ceremony, Julie Browne introduced the TY programme and presented awards to students for academic excellence, personal growth, community involvement and career exploration.
Julie commended the students for their enthusiasm and hard work throughout the year and attributed their success to the students' enthusiasm and dedication saying, 'We're incredibly proud of what they've achieved. The future is bright.'
The ceremony was organised and run by the students, under the guidance of Madison Coleman. It was enjoyed by all who attended and celebrated a year of growth, fun, adventure and new experiences.
Everyone had a part to play, with some moving musical performances from Maria Lynch and Ceadaí Canavan Joyce as well a group performing a scene from their recent variety show.
Students spoke about their various work experience; some in businesses and charities around the town, while others spoke about travelling to Dublin to the Law Society, an Garda Síochána, the Architects Guild.
A couple of students went further afield as one student sailed a boat home from Amsterdam as she investigated her chosen career as a Ship's Captain. Another student had the opportunity to do a week's training in Chesterfield Football Club with professional soccer players in England.
Among the highlights of the year were the trips, experiences and courses including SETU's Cybersecurity programme, Road Safety, Conspiracy theories, Law and much more. Students talked about achievements in national competitions.
Principal Conor Berry addressed the audience and thanked parents and guardians for their ongoing support as the school continues to grow. The event also included an emotional farewell to the school's visiting Spanish exchange students.
Among the awardees were; Angelica Szymanska who won Best Digital Portfolio, Robin Mouzet who won the Career Exploration Award, Kate McDonald who won the Community Engagement Award, Euan White who won Personal Growth Award, Jack Doran Keenan who won the Academic Excellence Award, Brooke Somers won TY Student of the Year and Oscar Kenny won Best Junior Cert Results (2024).

TV review: Why Prime Video's The Assassin is the perfect hate-watch

Telly is different during the summer. You need something frothy and fun to distract from the fact you should be cutting the grass. The Assassin (Prime Video) feels like it should fit the bill. Keeley Hawes plays Julie, a hit-woman who has retired to a Greek island. The opening sequence, a flashback to a hit in Bulgaria, is full of brutish villains and cartoon violence, a parody of Jason Bourne films, which were parodies of themselves, so this should be fun. But it isn't. It's like they've invented a new genre, a comedy caper that isn't funny, where they run with the first draft of the script because that's just the kind of people they are. The result is a story-line with holes big enough for a fleet of trucks, fleshed out with pancake-flat dialogue. Julie is given one final job, to kill a woman called Kayla on a yacht. She decides not to at the last minute, for no reason, but it's just as well because the next day her dweeb of a son, Edward, arrives and announces that Kayla is his fiancée. There is an inevitable Greek wedding attended by everyone in the village, where less predictably, most of them are shot. Julie and Edward flee to Kayla's yacht, and they all go to Albania for reasons which aren't clear. Keeley Hawes attends a photocall for the Assassin at the Soho Hotel, in central date: Thursday July 3, 2025. PA Photo. Kayla, a rich heiress, doesn't seem to mind that her future mother-in-law kills people for money, maybe because she didn't kill her. Meanwhile there is a Dutch IT nerd in a Libyan prison (keep up!) who is trying to blackmail an angry Australian businessman who lives in huge house in France. There is very little humour and way too much chopping off limbs. At no point do I believe any of this. And still, I'm five episodes in and still watching. The new genre they've invented is a kind of immersive hate-watch, where you stay glued to the action because you don't want to miss a giant plot-hole. My wife and I have really enjoyed pointing out why something doesn't make sense. The show looks great, with sweeping views of Greek islands and Albanian coast-line. And here is the odd funny scene, probably by accident. But mainly I've stayed watching because they've put just enough intrigue into the plot to keep me hanging on. What does the angry Australian businessman keep in his safe? Is Julie's estranged husband behind all of this? What could Kayla possibly see in dweeby Edward? If you're stuck for something to watch, give The Assassin a go. It beats cutting the grass.

Olivia Attwood will host a new cooking reality TV show

Something new is cooking for Loose Women panellist Olivia Attwood - she's to present a meal-making reality TV show, which will see contestants filmed both in and out of the kitchen. The Heat will take place in Barcelona and involve ten chefs working under Michelin star chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, as he tries to find the next rising star for his new restaurant in the Spanish city. The show, which will be broadcast next year on ITV2 and ITVX, is not a straightforward cooking competition, as each day the cameras will keep rolling once the cast have finished in the kitchen. Viewers can expect promotions, demotions, power plays, sackings and shock decisions throughout the series, according to producers. Attwood, who has presented a number of documentaries for ITV, said: "It is such an honour to host this brand-new format for ITV2 and ITVX. Being at the helm of something this fresh and exciting is a total pinch-me moment!" Novelli, who has previously appeared as a judge on Masterchef Australia, said: "I couldn't be more thrilled to join this new exciting show and help spotlight the next generation of culinary talent. "Known for my drive and intensity in the kitchen, I'll be using my passion and unique teaching style to push these young chefs to dig deep, stay sharp, and prove they have what it takes to grow, evolve, and make their mark. "I'll mentor them to use all five senses together and put it all on the plate, the right way. It's going to be a wild ride, and I know we'll discover some true culinary stars along the way." Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning and acquisitions at ITV, said: " The Heat is the perfect fusion of a high-stakes cooking show with real-life drama, and with the fantastic Olivia at the forefront alongside the renowned Jean-Christophe calling the shots in the kitchen, it's shaping up to be a new reality obsession for our younger viewers on ITV2 and ITVX."
