Sex and The City hunk Gilles Marini claims ‘it's time' for And Just Like That ‘to go' as fans slam ‘insufferable' show

SEX and The City star Gilles Marini agrees with fans that the reboot 'And Just Like That...' has had its time in the sun, and the writers should "shatter the storyline" and create something new.
The French actor appeared in the first movie based on the hit HBO show in 2008 as a love interest for Kim Cattrall's character, Samantha.

His iconic naked shower scene - that involved hours of filming - launched his acting career and later resulted in a stint on Dancing With the Stars.
And although he's entirely grateful for the show, he feels the writers need to go in a new direction after 'And Just Like That...' was slammed as "insufferable" by die-hard fans.
In an exclusive chat with The U.S. Sun, he said, "Everything takes its time. It goes up, and then it goes down [in popularity]. We have to know and understand when it's time to go."
He feels viewers would still love to see more of the iconic characters, but a different spin-off may work instead of continuing to focus on Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
"Maybe taking the side of one of the characters and having this history behind of Sex and The City," he said.
"But making something so clearly different.. somebody else come in with something new, you know? Really fresh, like the storyline has to be completely shattered.
"And something that is meaningful nowadays. Everybody loved this show because everybody could relate. Let's have a show where really everyone can relate a little bit [more]."
He said he was aware of the criticism surrounding the show but would also love to hear from those who have watched And Just Like That but never seen the original series.

Some TV critics have complained that the show's characters are now unlikeable and the show has become "unbearable to watch," while viewers have joked that the latest season was "written by AI".
And Just Like That premiered in December 2021 and focuses on Carrie and friends Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York as they navigate life in their 50s in New York City.
Fans were stunned to learn of the death of her husband, Big [played by Chris Noth], and actress Kim has only appeared in a cameo after bowing out of returning as a full-time cast member.
The third season has seen Carrie struggle to work out her relationship with ex-fiance Aidan Shaw, who is dealing with family drama in Virginia.
Despite its critics, Marini says he has loved seeing the main characters back on screen and would not turn down the opportunity to appear in the future.
He said, "If I got the call… I'd run to it. Absolutely. I think one of the most amazing things that I had the chance to do in my life was Sex And The City."
Asked about Kim's decision not to reprise her role, he added, "To each their own. Sometimes people want to start something, and then when they're done, they're done with it.
"At the end of it, look at the career she has, I mean, everything she's done. She doesn't need [anything]. It's her decision, of course."
He told The U.S. Sun had never seen the show before he was cast and had no idea at the time of the impact it had.
Marini recalled, "Michael Patrick King, the director of the film, he said, 'Listen, when the movie comes out, your life will never be the same and your phone will never stop ringing'. And I'm like, why? Why is he saying that? And now I know why he said that.
I had never watched the show before, and I think that was key in me getting the part."
Actor Gilles Marini
"At the end of the day he [Marini's character] was not just a guy. What was very interesting is when I developed that character in my mind, it was important for me for [women] to understand that this man is just not like .. he's gonna have sex with you.
"No matter what, the moment spent with him will be unforgettable.
"He loves what he does. He loves to be with women. And he's the near image in a way of Kim Cattrall's character a couple of years prior.
"I needed to play him so that you're not ever threatened. [He's] just a guy that loves to make love.
"I've never watched it back, but everybody sends me the scenes every day because ... guys and girls, whatever flavor, send me it, 'Oh look, it's in Korean, it's in Russian, it's in Spanish'.
"Every time I hear myself in a different language, I can't resist. I have to post it.
"I had never watched the show before, and I think that was key in me getting the part.
"But it's an educational show for men. If you're a man and you watch Sex and The City, you understand a lot more the psyche of women. And you get along with them a lot better."
Years on from the scene that set pulses racing, Marini has managed to keep his physique in top-tip shape, but said taking care of his health is important, it's not about being a pin-up.
"I keep myself in shape because I like to be more of an inspiration than someone that's given up on [themselves]," he said. "I'm about to be 50 years old."
Marini is still getting plenty of roles and is also working on a movie, telling The U.S. Sun he's happy to be back in action after the pandemic saw productions in Hollywood grind to a halt.
"I'm very excited about the kind of reverse of Hollywood. It has to happen, he said.
"Because it's been like really insane for a lot of people, including myself, since the pandemic.
"Hollywood should be seen as the leader of everything [in movies]. The last time I shot something here was at Warner Bros.
"And you could tell that it was not immensely busy. And that was not even a year ago. I want to work. I must export myself elsewhere.
"I just shot a film with a beautiful Kym Johnson, one of the all-time leaders of everything in Dancing With the Stars, that I adore.
"She's amazing. And she wanted to do a beautiful film, with dancing and Christmas and love. Christmas in a ballroom. We cannot wait.
"It's was very sweet. It was cool. It was difficult for me because I went back to kind of dancing. [Bu] it went more than well. She's just phenomenal. I can't wait to see her again."

Aldi selling TikTok viral health drink for just £1.49 as shoppers hail it ‘amazing'

A NEW TikTok health craze is hitting Aldi shelves — and it's only £1.49. Shoppers are raving about the budget supermarket's brand-new drink, calling it 'amazing'. 6 Available in stores across the UK from July 24th, Aldi's Original and Strawberry Matcha Lattes (84g) are already causing a stir online. The excitement follows a viral post by British nutritionist and TikTok star GQ Jordan, who shared five creative ways to use the powdered drink — and fans can't get enough. The green tea blend has become a must-have ingredient in kitchens up and down the country, thanks to Jordan's unexpected twist on traditional recipes. She's managed to whip up everything from cottage cheese ice cream to creamy hummus, all using matcha as the star flavour. In the video, GQ Jordan also shows how to make a vibrant matcha pesto pasta, rich matcha French toast, and even bite-sized matcha cheesecakes — proving the viral drink isn't just for sipping. Her fans were quick to react, with one saying: 'These look amazing! "Who knew you could create so many different recipes with Matcha.' It's not the first time a TikTok trend has had shoppers flocking to Aldi, but this one is proving especially popular with health -conscious buyers. Many are ditching their usual coffees and teas in favour of this green powerhouse, known for its antioxidant benefits and gentle caffeine boost. The matcha lattes come in two flavours — classic Original and fruity Strawberry — both designed to be mixed with water or milk for an easy at-home drink. 'Absolutely delicious' shopper exclaims at new Aldi summer bargain essential that's perfect for BBQs But thanks to GQ Jordan's inspiration, shoppers are now experimenting far beyond the mug. It's not the first time TikTok has helped turn an Aldi product into a must-have. Earlier this year, the retailer's high-protein puddings became a viral sensation, praised by fitness influencers as the perfect post-gym snack. Frozen avocado chunks also took off after TikTokers revealed their go-to smoothie hack — a fuss-free, freezer-friendly way to get your greens. Beauty lovers, meanwhile, have flocked to Aldi for its £1.99 collagen shots, touted online as affordable alternatives to premium wellness brands. Even recipe hacks have taken hold, like air fryer pizza wraps made with Aldi tortilla wraps — a quick, crispy snack that exploded in popularity. And thanks to TikTok's love of budget 'dupes,' Aldi's shelves are constantly being scoured for lookalikes of trending protein bars and snacks, offering big savings without compromising on flavour. 6 6 6

Kelly got engaged to her boyfriend Sid Wilson at the veteran rocker's final concert earlier this month. It was confirmed on Tuesday that Ozzy tragically died following a battle with Parkinson's. The Black Sabbath star revealed he had the disease in an emotional interview in 2020. Now, Kelly has paid moving tribute to her father after his tragic passing. A heartbreaking statement posted on Instagram read: "I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had." The touching tribute pays homage to song lyrics from Black Sabbath's famous track Changes. Earlier this month, Ozzy was seen unwinding with his family and friends backstage after his last ever performance on stage. But Sid, 48, had an even bigger surprise for Kelly, 40, when he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him backstage. Stood in front of Sharon and Ozzy, they appeared to have an idea of what was to come as the former X Factor judge could be heard saying to everyone in the room: "You've got to be quiet!" Sid then took the hand of Kelly, who was dressed down in some comfy leopard print trousers and a simple black hoodie. Ozzy Osbourne top five greatest moments He said to the TV personality: "Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world!" Ozzy then appeared to give the game away as he jokingly quipped with his signature potty mouth: "F*** off, you are not marrying my daughter!" The group laughed before Sid continued as he said: "I want to spend the rest of my life with you - and ask in front of all of our family and friends, Kelly, will you marry me?" Kelly turned her head as she looked on open-mouthed before Sid began to stand up and place the ring onto her finger. Proud dad Ozzy could not hold back his excitement after the incredible news. The star and Sharon were among those beaming and cheering after the cute moment. The legendary rocker has been married for over 40 years to X Factor icon Sharon, 71. Ozzy's family statement BLACK Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76. A statement from his family said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. "Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." Kelly and the Slipknot star had actually been friends for over 20 years before they took their friendship to the next level in 2022. Their son was born later that year, prompting Kelly to tell her fans that becoming a mum 'is the best thing that ever happened to me.' The engagement came backstage as Ozzy played his final ever show with Black Sabbath at Villa Park. The rocker, 76, had curated a day of epic rock music with a series of iconic bands and stars lined up to play before his final farewell set. Called Back To The Beginning, it was frontman and rock veteran Ozzy's last time performing on stage amid his worsening diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. It was the first time in 20 years that the original Black Sabbath line-up have performed together. This comes after Sharon Osbourne broke her silence yesterday by responding to touching tributes paid to her beloved late husband. Loving wife Sharon replied to fans sending their condolences on social media. She commented underneath one message shared by musician Gavin Rossdale. The Bush singer posted a picture of himself with Ozzy on Instagram, with the caption: "RIP OZZY - a great man - a true legend - I met Ozzy through Jack just a few times, but he was so warm and kind and funny and I love that memory. "Sending much love to his family at this difficult time. Rest in power." Sharon wrote underneath "bless you" in acknowledgement of the tribute. The late rock star's wife also replied to BBC Radio 1 DJ Jack Saunders' message of support. "Jack thank you for your tribute to Ozzy tonight, bless you," she commented. Ozzy's sisters have also opened up on the heartbreaking final texts they received from the late singer shortly before his death. Jean Powell, 85, and Gillian Hemming, 80, revealed how "our John" messaged them, saying he "couldn't wait to come back" to Birmingham, following his iconic final gig. After learning of his death through a phone call, the sisters said they stayed up all night reminiscing about the "loving and funny" Black Sabbath star. Speaking to the Mirror, Jean explained how they had last seen their brother at his final concert at Villa Park. She said they got texts from him as he drove down Lodge Road - a street where they used to live close to the stadium. Jean said Ozzy "couldn't believe" the sheer volume of crowds who were walking down their old road to watch him perform. She said: "He was blown away. We had an executive box in the stadium, and when I saw the sea of people waiting to see our John I just broke down. "We didn't really get a chance to chat much because it was such a chaotic visit. But in his last text to me he said he would be coming to Birmingham again. "He said 'I can't wait to come back'. We were hoping to see him this week." Jean said that although Ozzy was ill, the news of his death "still came as a shock". She added: "He still had plans and things he wanted to do. We don't know the details of his death, it's still too early. "It's just so sad. I'm just thankful he died in England." Ozzy Osbourne's iconic career The singer then pursued his love of music after hearing The Beatles hit She Loves You in 1963, aged 15. After appearing in a handful of school plays, Ozzy joined Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler in their first group Rare Breed in 1967. When that band split, the pair reunited in Polka Tulk Blues alongside Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward. The group later became known as Black Sabbath and went onto shatter the music world with their whining guitar solos, Occult-based lyrics and Ozzy's screeching vocals. In 1970, the group gained a cult following in both the US and UK after releasing their eponymous first album. Black Sabbath saw incredible success with hit tracks such as Paranoid but discord in the group saw most of the original line-up leave. Ozzy himself quit the band in 1978, with a spiral into drug abuse leading to a divorce from first wife Thelma Mayfair, who he had two children with. It was then he first met a young Sharon Arden, who Ozzy at first wrote off as he believed she would think he was a "lunatic". But the singer could not be more wrong and the pair married in Hawaii in July 1982 before going on to have three children together, Aimee, Kelly and Jack. With Sharon's encouragement and help from her music manager dad Don, he began to carve out a successful solo career. His seminal first album Blizzard of Ozz in 1980 became a multi-platinum success thanks to Ozzy's howling vocals and macabre laugh on hit Crazy Train. Coupled with the Prince of Darkness' insane tour that saw him bite the head off a live bat, a string of successful tracks followed - cementing Ozzy as a rock legend around the world. In 1992, the singer announced his retirement but four years later created the beloved annual music festival Ozzfest with Sharon, which featured heavy metal acts touring the US and some of Europe. Ozzy returned to Black Sabbath in 1999, with the band winning a Grammy for best metal performance for the song Iron Man. They later earned the same award in 2013 after releasing single God Is Dead? from album 13. Ozzy died at the family mansion in Buckinghamshire with his wife Sharon, 72, and four of his six children by his side. Thames Valley Air Ambulance confirmed an air ambulance was dispatched to 'provide advanced critical care'. Sharon — married for 43 years — said in a joint statement that he had been 'surrounded by love'. Ozzy's death on drew condolences from stars including Sir Rod Stewart, Noel Gallagher and Sir Elton John. And friends said many big names wanted to salute the bat-munching, self-proclaimed Prince of Darkness, who became a national treasure. Such a service would be held ahead of a smaller private funeral. A source told The Sun: 'There are conversations about a celebration of his life in Birmingham, the city that meant so much to him. 'Artists like Yungblud, who was seen by Ozzy as a musician who could carry on the mantle of what he started all those years ago, is expected to have a role in it. 'There are hundreds of big names who will want to pay their respects and celebrate his life and legacy, as well as thousands of fans who would line the streets to say goodbye.' A new documentary, No Escape From Now, is set to air on Paramount+ later this year, following his life since a fall in 2019 — before his Parkinson's diagnosis — left him needing a series of ops on his back and neck. Tributes poured in for the legendary singer from across the music world.
