And Just Like That fans rejoice as Carrie and Aidan make a shocking decision about their relationship: 'It's about time!'
Fans rejoiced after Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw broke up for the third time in the latest episode of And Just Like That. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett) have navigated a tumultuous long-distance relationship in season three, but it all came to an end in Thursday's episode nine, titled 'Present Tense.' After arguing about Aidan being jealous of Carrie's relationship with her handsome British downstairs neighbor, writer Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake), Aidan admits he has trust issues due to Carrie cheating on him in the past. This eventually leads a frustrated Carrie to lash out as she asks Aidan: 'Can you stop f*****g blaming me?' They later both conclude their relationship won't work out again, sharing a tearful hug before parting ways. The pair previously dated twice in seasons 3 and 4 of Sex and the City, with both attempts ultimately ending in breakups. The tense episode also had a humorous moment when Parker's real-life friend Andy Cohen made a quick cameo as he reprised his role of shoe salesman Daniel from Sex and The City. The episode starts out with Carrie walking in on an awkward encounter between her boyfriend Aidan and her downstairs neighbor Duncan. Aidan grills Duncan about why he chooses to smoke from a pipe, before Carrie quickly makes an excuse to leave. Carrie later tells pal Seema (Sarita Choudhury) that she believes Aidan is 'threatened.' 'By Duncan?' Seema questions. 'By me,' Carrie replies. 'I cheated on him with John. It was awful,' she said, referring to her late husband John Preston, a.k.a. Mr. Big, who died from a heart attack in the first season of the Sex and the City reboot. 'He had trouble trusting me after that, and frankly he had reason not to,' she added. 'I cheated on him with cigarettes as well,' she joked. Seema then informed her that Aidan had been questioning her about Duncan in the previous episode. She advises Carrie to talk to him about the situation, but Carrie refuses. Later on Aidan interrupts Carrie and Duncan's book edition session, as he shows up unannounced. He asks her if he should get dinner started, but Carrie declines saying she and Duncan are busy working. When he asks her when she'll be done, she tells him she is unsure and to start without her. However, he tells her he will wait for her. When Carrie finally returns she finds that Aidan is still awake. She thanks him for 'being so understanding' and tries to cuddle up to him in bed. However he tells her, 'No, get away from me. You smell like smoke.' He then tells her to 'go take a shower.' Carrie replies with a shaking voice, 'Yeah, I'm sad too' Later on in her apartment Carrie takes down all the postcards Aidan sent her from Virginia 'The woman had thought that she and her love were very present, but now realized they were still locked in the past, which meant, of course, that they had no future,' Carrie says in a voiceover at the end of the episode After Carrie showers and goes to sleep in a different bedroom. Aidan follows her and they bicker, before she kicks him out of the room. In the morning, he tries to play it off while making breakfast, but Carrie is still upset. 'Is this because I talked to him?' Aidan asks. 'I distinctly asked you not to,' she responds. They continue to argue until Carrie accuses him of trying to figure out if there's something going on between her and Duncan. 'This is such bullsh**t, Carrie,' he responds. 'Aidan, you're worried about me and another man,' she says before storming out. They later meet up for lunch, and Aidan admits that he has 'trust issues' with Carrie and other men. The talk erupts into another fight, as Carrie accuses him of sounding 'jealous' and 'suspicious.' The Sex and the City sequel follows friends Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate their intricate lives in New York City. Nicole Ari Parker and Sarita returned as the group's new besties Lisa and Seema this season. The show picks up 11 years after the events of the 2010 film Sex and the City 2, and follows three of the four original main characters. Following the success of Kim Cattrall 's cameo in the second season, it's been widely reported that her character Samantha will return for at least part of the third season. Sara Ramirez will not be returning as controversial non-binary comedian Che Diaz. Since starting in December 2021, the Sex And The City spin-off has seen Carrie, Samantha and Charlotte grapple with sexuality, gender identity, death, grief, divorce, drug use, and pretty much every other hot issue in Western society. The original Sex and the City ran for six seasons, airing on HBO from 1998 until 2004. The story continued with two feature films: Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010). And Just Like That... premiered its first season in 2021. The third season will feature 12 episodes, with the finale airing on August 14.

Sex and The City hunk Gilles Marini claims ‘it's time' for And Just Like That ‘to go' as fans slam ‘insufferable' show
SEX and The City star Gilles Marini agrees with fans that the reboot 'And Just Like That...' has had its time in the sun, and the writers should "shatter the storyline" and create something new. The French actor appeared in the first movie based on the hit HBO show in 2008 as a love interest for Kim Cattrall's character, Samantha. And although he's entirely grateful for the show, he feels the writers need to go in a new direction after 'And Just Like That...' was slammed as "insufferable" by die-hard fans. In an exclusive chat with The U.S. Sun, he said, "Everything takes its time. It goes up, and then it goes down [in popularity]. We have to know and understand when it's time to go." He feels viewers would still love to see more of the iconic characters, but a different spin-off may work instead of continuing to focus on Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. "Maybe taking the side of one of the characters and having this history behind of Sex and The City," he said. "But making something so clearly different.. somebody else come in with something new, you know? Really fresh, like the storyline has to be completely shattered. "And something that is meaningful nowadays. Everybody loved this show because everybody could relate. Let's have a show where really everyone can relate a little bit [more]." And Just Like That premiered in December 2021 and focuses on Carrie and friends Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York as they navigate life in their 50s in New York City. Fans were stunned to learn of the death of her husband, Big [played by Chris Noth], and actress Kim has only appeared in a cameo after bowing out of returning as a full-time cast member. The third season has seen Carrie struggle to work out her relationship with ex-fiance Aidan Shaw, who is dealing with family drama in Virginia. Despite its critics, Marini says he has loved seeing the main characters back on screen and would not turn down the opportunity to appear in the future. He said, "If I got the call… I'd run to it. Absolutely. I think one of the most amazing things that I had the chance to do in my life was Sex And The City." Asked about Kim's decision not to reprise her role, he added, "To each their own. Sometimes people want to start something, and then when they're done, they're done with it. "At the end of it, look at the career she has, I mean, everything she's done. She doesn't need [anything]. It's her decision, of course." He told The U.S. Sun had never seen the show before he was cast and had no idea at the time of the impact it had. Marini recalled, "Michael Patrick King, the director of the film, he said, 'Listen, when the movie comes out, your life will never be the same and your phone will never stop ringing'. And I'm like, why? Why is he saying that? And now I know why he said that. I had never watched the show before, and I think that was key in me getting the part." What was very interesting is when I developed that character in my mind, it was important for me for [women] to understand that this man is just not like .. he's gonna have sex with you. "No matter what, the moment spent with him will be unforgettable. "He loves what he does. He loves to be with women. And he's the near image in a way of Kim Cattrall's character a couple of years prior. "I needed to play him so that you're not ever threatened. [He's] just a guy that loves to make love. "I've never watched it back, but everybody sends me the scenes every day because ... guys and girls, whatever flavor, send me it, 'Oh look, it's in Korean, it's in Russian, it's in Spanish'. "Every time I hear myself in a different language, I can't resist. I have to post it. "I had never watched the show before, and I think that was key in me getting the part. "But it's an educational show for men. If you're a man and you watch Sex and The City, you understand a lot more the psyche of women. And you get along with them a lot better." Years on from the scene that set pulses racing, Marini has managed to keep his physique in top-tip shape, but said taking care of his health is important, it's not about being a pin-up. "I keep myself in shape because I like to be more of an inspiration than someone that's given up on [themselves]," he said. "I'm about to be 50 years old." Marini is still getting plenty of roles and is also working on a movie, telling The U.S. Sun he's happy to be back in action after the pandemic saw productions in Hollywood grind to a halt. "I'm very excited about the kind of reverse of Hollywood. It has to happen, he said. "Because it's been like really insane for a lot of people, including myself, since the pandemic. "Hollywood should be seen as the leader of everything [in movies]. The last time I shot something here was at Warner Bros. "And you could tell that it was not immensely busy. And that was not even a year ago. I want to work. I must export myself elsewhere. "I just shot a film with a beautiful Kym Johnson, one of the all-time leaders of everything in Dancing With the Stars, that I adore. "She's amazing. And she wanted to do a beautiful film, with dancing and Christmas and love. Christmas in a ballroom. We cannot wait. "It's was very sweet. It was cool. It was difficult for me because I went back to kind of dancing. [Bu] it went more than well. She's just phenomenal. Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't watch And Just Like That...
Sarah Jessica Parker refuses to watch And Just Like That... The 60-year-old actress reprised the role of Carrie Bradshaw to star in the Sex and The City sequel series - but Sarah doesn't enjoy watching herself on-screen. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Sarah explained: "I don't not watch it because I'm being cavalier about my relationship [to the project]. I don't watch it because I don't love watching my work [and] myself." Despite this, Sarah insisted that she cares enormously about the TV show. The actress explained: "It doesn't touch on how I feel about the experience or how much I care. In fact, it's because I care that I can't watch it.' Earlier this year, Sarah stressed that she feels proud to play Carrie. The actress has played the iconic character in Sex and The City and the show's revival series, And Just Like That... - and Sarah admits that she's always relished the experience of playing Carrie. During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the actress shared: "First of all, the way she was speaking, like her choice of language, I'd never seen or heard a woman talk like that." Sarah then explained that she respects Carrie's "curiosity about sex and sexual politics". The actress - who stars in And Just Like That... alongside the likes of Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon - added: "Which is not like me - I don't talk about that at all even with friends. I'll talk about it globally, but I don't sit and share intimate details of my life that way." Sarah thinks of Carrie as being a "little survivor". The actress - who is married to Hollywood star Matthew Broderick - explained: "I admired that she was scrappy. "She was a little survivor. She had instincts to keep her head [up], not always making smart choices and falling short of being the best friend or the best girlfriend or her best self, but I also was very happy that they were writing her that way."

A similar story is being played out in Lena Dunham's new Netflix series, Too Much. Starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe, the main character, Jessica, sees her seven-year relationship end after her boyfriend refuses to commit. Marriage just isn't his thing – or so she thought. Naturally, a few months later, he's engaged to influencer Wendy Jones, played by Emily Ratajkowski. The scenario feels especially cruel. A romance ends because your partner wants different things to you – only you soon find out that your desires were aligned, they just wanted that future with someone else. The now-famous relationship bible theorised that any man who insists that they have 'issues' with marriage would, one day, end up married. Just not to you. 'Every man you have ever dated who has said he doesn't want to get married or doesn't believe in marriage, or has 'issues' with marriage, will, rest assured, someday be married,' the pair explain. 'It just will never be with you. Because he's not really saying he doesn't want to get married. He's saying he doesn't want to get married to you .' The same idea ended up on-screen in Sex and The City, with Miranda Hobbes presenting the 'cab light theory.' When he's not ready to settle down, his taxi light is off – but all of a sudden, it'll switch right on, available for whichever woman he happens to be with at that time. And if it's not you, that's too bad. In Miranda's view, it's 'not fate, it's dumb luck.' Of course, marriage isn't for everyone. For some, it's a heteronormative, sexist institution – and you can, of course, love someone deeply without saying 'I do'. Reports of a long-running feud between Parker and Cattrall have dominated Sex and The City headlines for years following the 2008 and 2010 movies. However, in a new interview with U.K. outlet The Times, Cattrall is revealing a few tidbits about her connection to the iconic character of sex-positive publicist Samantha Jones. In the feature published Thursday evening, the 69-year-old Liverpool-born star said she turned down the role four times, believing that at 41 she wouldn't be seen by audiences as sexy. 'Self-inflicted ageism,' she told the paper. 'Well, that changed — 40 became sexy. It became, 'Man, let's have more of that.'' The British/Canadian/American actress continued: '[Samantha] wasn't a nymphomaniac — well, some people might have thought she was — but she was just enjoying the main course. Everyone else was nibbling on the appetisers when she was going for the steak.' 'And it was always on her terms — that I always insisted on.' Despite such a celebrated performance, Cattrall, who has been dating BBC audio engineer Russell Thomas since 2016, added that she is not much like her character in real life. 'I'm the antithesis of her in many ways. I'm a serial monogamist, and then some.' The six seasons of the show, which ran from 1998 to 2004, saw the women battle tumultuous love lives, sex problems and professional hiccups while strengthening their own friendships. The popularity of the show has only increased since its addition to streaming services like Netflix, which broadcast the pinnacle of nineties NYC glamor to a younger, Gen Z audience. Cattrall was talking to The Times about the second season of Central Intelligence, a BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds drama series. It follows a retelling of the founding of the CIA in which Cattrall stars opposite Ed Harris and Johnny Flynn.
