Lukas Nelson Reveals if Dad Willie Nelson Was 'Heartbroken' When He Stopped Smoking Weed

Lukas Nelson, the son of country legend Willie Nelson, revealed he stopped smoking weed during the pandemic
He also shared how his father, known for his affinity for weed, reacted understandably
Lukas released his debut solo album, American Romance, on Friday, June 20Willie Nelson had an understandable reaction to his son Lukas Nelson quitting weed.
During a Tuesday, June 24, appearance on SiriusXM'sThe Howard Stern Show, the "Just Breathe" singer spoke about his father's reaction when Lukas, 36, told him he stopped smoking weed. Stern, 71, asked if Willie, 92, was "heartbroken."
"No one loves weed more than your dad," the radio personality quipped.
"I did feel at a certain point that it was something, not just with my father, but with my old band, that it separated me from that a little bit," Lukas, whose debut solo album American Romance is out now, said, noting that he stopped smoking weed "around the pandemic."
"But at a certain point, my father, of anyone, respects someone for being who they are and their individuality," Lukas continued, claiming "the biggest lie" he once believed was that he was supposed to "make the mistakes that your heroes make."
"That you have to live like your heroes or icons," he said, naming Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, both of whom struggled with substance use problems during their lifetimes.
This revelation comes weeks after Willie revealed that he "can't smoke weed" anymore in an interview with Forbes published June 7. However, this doesn't stop the country legend from experiencing the high.
"My lungs have already said, 'Don't do that,'" he said. "So, I don't really do anything now much except a few edibles."
Years earlier, in 2019, the "On The Road Again" singer said he stopped smoking cigarettes. At the time, his publicist clarified Willie did "still taste the flower."
"Willie doesn't smoke any more or any less [weed]," they added.
Elsewhere during his appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Lukas spoke about wanting to make Willie proud by becoming more independent.
"I really wanted to make my dad proud by being completely self-sufficient, you know? I wanted to make him proud by not needing him," Lukas said.

"[So], I put 70,000 miles on a '91 Econoline Ford with my first band [Promise of the Real], and we went out for 15 years and played 250 shows a year straight and built something with ourselves that now I can say I feel like I've earned — and I think that makes my dad and my mom the most proud."
The "All God Did" singer also spoke about how the nonagenarian inspired him to become involved in music.
"My dad would leave all the time, and I'd be naturally upset as a little kid, and I knew that if I learned how to be a great musician, we would be bonded forever," Lukas said. "It wasn't about being as great as him, it was about speaking the same language [and] being part of the club that understands music."
American Romance is available to stream.

Mark Zuckerberg paired a $250,000 'grail' watch with his cool guy uniform

Mark Zuckerberg is showing off wrist candy from his pricey watch collection in his everyday looks. After years of dressing in humble hoodies, the billionaire has beefed up his wardrobe with a custom gold chain and a collection of luxury watch brands. Zuckerberg, who Forbes estimates is worth nearly $250 billion, recently paired a basic T-shirt with a limited-edition watch. An iteration of the same model sold at auction for $254,000 in April, Sotheby's said. Zuckerberg's F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu Byblos is one of 99 of that model made in 2014 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the watchmaker's boutique in Beirut. Watch industry veterans identified the timepiece after Zuckerberg wore it during an April 28 appearance on Theo Von's "This Past Weekend" podcast. "It's one of those pieces that quietly signals, 'I know what I'm wearing,' without shouting it," Eugene Tutunikov, CEO of SwissWatchExpo, told Business Insider. Zuckerberg has other F.P. Journe watches in his collection. For his keynote at Meta Connect 2024, he chose a watch that resembled one from the Souveraine collection. Sotheby's estimated that it could fetch up to $54,000 at auction. "F.P. Journe is one of the most respected independent watchmakers, celebrated for its superb finishing, innovation, and incredibly limited runs," Paul Altieri of Bob's Watches told BI. Despite the rarity and hefty price tag, the Chronomètre Bleu Byblos is a "simpler" time-only choice for the Meta CEO compared to the more complicated pieces he's been spotted in, Joshua Ganjei, CEO of European Watch Company, said. Zuck wasn't known for flashy fashion choices when he broke onto the tech scene as a college dropout. Over the years, his zip-up hoodie and blue sweater became a staple of his style. Last year, he was captured admiring a Richard Mille watch worn by the Reliance Industries heir Anant Ambani. "You know, I never really wanted to get a watch, but after seeing that, I was like, watches are cool," Zuckerberg is heard saying in a video of the interaction. Today, he's turned a corner to crank up his style. His custom gold chain — made in honor of his daughters — is paired with many of his outfits, and he's rarely seen without a pair of the Ray-Ban smart glasses powered by Meta AI. Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, previously praised Zuckerberg's new steeze in June 2024. Mosseri said his boss spent a long time "not wasting any energy on deciding what to wear." Instead, Zuckerberg decided to wear "the same thing every day for a long time as a lot of tech execs have done." Zuck is entering a new fashion era in his own way, with a watch that's a "perfect fit" for him, Tutunikov said. "It's almost like the thinking man's grail: no flashy logos, no gimmicks, just insane craftsmanship and a bit of mystery," he said.

Comedian Jeff Ross Reveals Shocking Reason Tom Brady Agreed to Do Netflix Roast

It was just revealed why Tom Brady agreed to participate in Netflix's live roast of him - and the reason might surprise you. Comedian Jeff Ross, who cohosted the Roast of Tom Brady in May 2024 alongside Kevin Hart, shared during a Wednesday, June 26 appearance on The Howard Stern Show Brady's motivation for being the subject of the Netflix special. On the day of the roast, Ross asked Brady, "Why are you doing this?" According to Ross, Brady replied, "I love this kind of humor. People are too snowflaky right now," On top of that, Brady allegedly sent Ross a text that day saying: "No fear. This is what we do." The comedian also opened up about how to roast came to be, sharing that it took several years to get to the taping from when he first connected with the NFL star via Instagram. "I had seen him looking at my Instagram on Super Bowl Sunday a few years ago," Ross said. "I was like, Why the f**k is Tom Brady on my Instagram?' I go, 'Oh, I had some jokes up. Maybe that's how he unwinds before a big game.' And he f***ing wins!" It's likely that Ross is referring to Brady's Super Bowl win in 2021 as the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his seventh and final Super Bowl win as an NFL quarterback. "I hit him the next day on Instagram going, 'Dude, it's time for a roast. You obviously love this s**t,'" Ross continued. "He writes me back and we start talking and it turns out my agent and his agent, they work together. And we put a deal together to do a roast. Netflix is like, 'Sure!'" But just as Ross's plans were coming to fruition - Brady announced he had to decided not to retire from professional football, after previously announcing he was going to in February 2022. "He agreed and he retired and we were like, 'Let's go! Now's our chance.' Then he unretired," Ross said. "I was like, 'No, we got to wait until he's done playing. It's a little more fun.'" That opportunity came after Brady's second retirement in February 2023. However, the long-anticipated event was pushed back even more due to Brady's split from ex-wife Gisele Bündchen in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. "Then he was going through a divorce and I'm like, 'Let's wait for that,'" Ross explained. The event featured Brady getting roasted by comedians like Nikki Glaser and Andrew Schulz, celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck and former New England Patriots teammates Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman.
