NHS weight loss jabs might 'not be suitable' for these 5 groups

GPs will be prescribing Mounjaro to a select few people as the rollout begins, but others may need to avoid the jabs completely GPs can now prescribe Mounjaro, but only to a select group of patients who meet stringent criteria, such as having a BMI over 40 and being diagnosed with four out of five qualifying conditions. But people with other pre-existing conditions may not be able to access this weight loss drug at all. Dr Crystal Willie from ZAVA clarified that weight loss drugs "may be unsafe depending on medications you are taking or pre-existing medical conditions". This includes three specific conditions: ‌ Pancreatic disorders like pancreatitis History of thyroid cancer History of gallbladder disease ‌ Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to do either might also be advised to avoid the medication. The same goes for people on certain medications like insulin or immunosuppressants. Dr Willie told the Mirror: "You should speak to your doctor about any conditions or medications before taking any weight loss injection. Mounjaro weight loss injections can lower your blood sugar levels too much if taken in combination with sulfonylurea or insulin (other diabetes treatments). "You shouldn't take Mounjaro alongside other weight loss injections, such as Saxenda or Wegovy. This could increase the risk of serious health risks and side effects." The doctor also revealed that weight loss medication might actually not do what people think, as research from ZAVA found up to 20% of people using the GLP-1 drugs don't see the expected results or hit a weight loss plateau. There are a variety of reasons for this, including: ‌ Incorrect dosage Missing doses Not improving your diet and an inactive lifestyle Not keeping hydrated Excessive alcohol consumption Persistent stress Having a poor sleep routine Other health conditions may interfere with the effectiveness of weight loss drugs, like diabetes, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance and PCOS. Medications like antidepressants or steroids may also cause weight gain or hinder fat loss. Dr Wyllie added: "While Mounjaro is an effective medication for weight loss, it's normal to encounter a plateau at some point. To enhance your results, it's important to follow the prescribed dosing schedule and aim to reach the appropriate maintenance dose, as higher doses are generally associated with greater benefits. "Beyond medication, factors like maintaining a balanced diet, regular physical activity, managing stress, and getting enough sleep play a crucial role in supporting your weight loss journey. If progress stalls despite these efforts, consulting your healthcare provider is essential to evaluate your plan and make necessary adjustments."

Lukas Nelson Reveals if Dad Willie Nelson Was 'Heartbroken' When He Stopped Smoking Weed

Lukas Nelson, the son of country legend Willie Nelson, revealed he stopped smoking weed during the pandemic He also shared how his father, known for his affinity for weed, reacted understandably Lukas released his debut solo album, American Romance, on Friday, June 20Willie Nelson had an understandable reaction to his son Lukas Nelson quitting weed. During a Tuesday, June 24, appearance on SiriusXM'sThe Howard Stern Show, the "Just Breathe" singer spoke about his father's reaction when Lukas, 36, told him he stopped smoking weed. Stern, 71, asked if Willie, 92, was "heartbroken." "No one loves weed more than your dad," the radio personality quipped. "I did feel at a certain point that it was something, not just with my father, but with my old band, that it separated me from that a little bit," Lukas, whose debut solo album American Romance is out now, said, noting that he stopped smoking weed "around the pandemic." "But at a certain point, my father, of anyone, respects someone for being who they are and their individuality," Lukas continued, claiming "the biggest lie" he once believed was that he was supposed to "make the mistakes that your heroes make." "That you have to live like your heroes or icons," he said, naming Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, both of whom struggled with substance use problems during their lifetimes. This revelation comes weeks after Willie revealed that he "can't smoke weed" anymore in an interview with Forbes published June 7. However, this doesn't stop the country legend from experiencing the high. "My lungs have already said, 'Don't do that,'" he said. "So, I don't really do anything now much except a few edibles." Years earlier, in 2019, the "On The Road Again" singer said he stopped smoking cigarettes. At the time, his publicist clarified Willie did "still taste the flower." "Willie doesn't smoke any more or any less [weed]," they added. Elsewhere during his appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Lukas spoke about wanting to make Willie proud by becoming more independent. "I really wanted to make my dad proud by being completely self-sufficient, you know? I wanted to make him proud by not needing him," Lukas said. is now available in the Apple App Store! "[So], I put 70,000 miles on a '91 Econoline Ford with my first band [Promise of the Real], and we went out for 15 years and played 250 shows a year straight and built something with ourselves that now I can say I feel like I've earned — and I think that makes my dad and my mom the most proud." The "All God Did" singer also spoke about how the nonagenarian inspired him to become involved in music. "My dad would leave all the time, and I'd be naturally upset as a little kid, and I knew that if I learned how to be a great musician, we would be bonded forever," Lukas said. "It wasn't about being as great as him, it was about speaking the same language [and] being part of the club that understands music." American Romance is available to stream. The next apple pie goes to Willie Dye

If you don't know Willie Dye, also known as Ultimate Arty, then you're missing out. Willie is the latest volunteer to be ambushed by the Apple Pie Society of Williams Lake, a group of grateful locals wanting to honour the people who have done outstanding work for the community. 'These things don't take care of themselves,' agreed Willie when the members of the society, who work undercover, said the community is always in need of volunteers. Willie's volunteer efforts stretch over 60 years; he recalls organizing high school dances as well as a pep club to cheer on their school sports teams. 'I'm always involved in at least one thing,' Willie said, adding that he does so with things he's interested in. He also likes a challenge. 'I like to prove I can do something just about better than everybody else,' he said. When he started helping out with the Downtown Williams Lake Business Improvement Association's annual Art Walk, Willie thought he needed to bring more life to the party. As he joined the association's board and got planning, the idea was formed to come up with a mascot for the Art Walk. And who was it but Willie, come to be known as Arty the Art Walker, who would take on this role. 'The nice thing about dressing like this is you don't have to explain what you're doing,' Willie said as he showed off the lab coat he would wear as part of his Arty costume. He said he was 'attacked' by some ladies with the Cariboo Art Society, who used the coat as their canvas and transforming it into Arty the Art Walker's colourful getup. Being dressed up as Arty the Art Walker helped people catch on to what was going on, because they would come to know the mascot who became so popular he began giving out autographs. Willie is proud of how the Art Walk grew with his contributions, and though he is no longer involved in organizing the art walk, he remains known by many as Arty. 'Now that I don't do the Art Walk, I'm the Ultimate Arty,' he said. Willie's days as a volunteer are not over, however. For the last few years, has been organizing the Stampede Parade, which at times attracts a crowd of five to six thousand people. With about 80 entries to this year's parade, Willie said it takes a full year of planning to make it possible. 'It's an extensive job,' he said. There are times Willie has worked for more than a year to secure parade participants whom he think would be excellent for the atmosphere but may be difficult to get in touch with or to get their commitment. 'Thanks to you we have a Stampede parade,' said a member of the Apple Pie Society as they gifted an apple pie to Willie. The Stampede Parade has been a long time tradition in Williams Lake, and in 2022 when the parade's previous organizers said they were no longer up to the task, Willie stepped in. He described the process of getting involved as waking up one morning and thinking, 'I could do this.' True to his word, Willie has done it, and is keeping the parade he first attended back in 1954 alive and well, even getting Rick Hansen to come back to his hometown for the 2023 parade. Willie's family moved to Williams Lake the year prior to manage the old Ranch Hotel, and they entered a float in the Stampede Parade to help promote the hotel. This year's parade is going to be another fun one, with Kamloops' Rube Band, which has been going strong for 75 years, taking part, as well as the Williams Lake Community Band and the Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddle Society, the latter of whom will be travelling to Ireland on the Monday after the parade. The theme of this year's parade, which starts at 10 a.m. this Saturday, June 28, is 'hockey is our game.' Hence Willie's new hockey jersey, which he's been wearing proudly leading up to the parade, which features the words 'Elbows up.' On the back is the number 55 and the name 'Arty.' 'It's truly an honour, I was quite thrilled with this,' said Willie after receiving his apple pie. 'But you know what this means,' he said to the five society members who delivered the pie. 'I'm going to have to stop on my way home to get some ice cream.' The Apple Pie Society told the Tribune Willie's greatest talent is organizing events where he gets the whole community involved. They listed events Willie has helped with for many years in the past, including the Men's Curling Bonspiel, the Stampede Open Golf Tournament and the first Dairyland Minor Hockey Tournament which mixed children from different local teams into new teams for a special tournament. Willie also brought the Lenardduzzi Soccer Camp to Williams Lake and arranges sponsorship for the more than 200 children taking part. Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request. Willie Geist on the Moment it Hit Him That Daughter Lucie is Leaving for College

Family life is about to change for Sunday TODAY host Willie Geist: his oldest child, Lucie, will be leaving for college late this summer. 'We just had a high school graduation a few days ago for Lucie Geist,' Willie told TODAY anchors (and dads!) Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Carson Daly and Peter Alexander at a TODAY Father's Day celebration. 'All the best stuff is still coming,' Willie said. At the same time, he isn't sure what life will be like when Lucie moves away. Willie, his wife, Christina, and their 15-year-old son, George, will have to figure out how to recalibrate living in their home as a family of three most of the time. 'We feel like we've done the best we can. She's a great kid, and so we're thrilled for her,' Willie said. 'But we're a family of four. Somebody's taken a tire off the car and you've got to figure out how to drive the car on three wheels, you know?' Peter Alexander reminded Willie of how wonderful it can be to begin a whole new phase of your parental relationship with the younger child. 'I don't know how he feels about that, but we're excited about it,' Willie joked about George. Willie and Christina have been struggling with the fact that Lucie is not going to be living nearby — she's moving several hours away. For now, the couple can track Lucie's whereabouts on an app, but they plan to sign off while she's at school, noting that seeing her location at all times might be more troubling than reassuring. 'Look,' said Al Roker. 'I think it's one of those things where at a certain point you've got to give it up to God, you know? You've done what you can. And you're just there to catch them.' Willie also spoke about Lucie's milestone when he co-hosted TODAY With Jenna & Friends on June 10. 'As any parent who has been through this — or maybe you're going through it right now — knows, the excitement at times becomes terror,' he shared. 'The graduation week, there are parties and things at school. You're kind of busy ... and then all of the sudden you're sitting there and you're looking up at that stage and go, 'Oh, that's her! That's Lucie. That's my daughter walking across and shaking the hand of the principal and getting the diploma,'' Willie told Jenna. 'She was on stage speaking, which was an amazing thrill, and I think that's when it really hit me and Christina,' he added. 'All of a sudden, she's ready to go,' he said. 'And you hope you've instilled in her all the values and the habits and the things she'll need to go out in the world.' This article was originally published on

Woman Can't Cope After Seeing What Cleaner Did to Dog's Steps: 'Excuse Me?'

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The internet was in stitches at a tiny dog's reaction to the cleaner moving a very important piece of furniture. Willie Nelson, aka Willie the dachshund, lives in Colorado with his owner Piet Dayney, 29, who describes the one-year-old pup as "the sweetest" dog "with so much personality." Thanks to his small size—the breed has an average height of just nine inches, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC)—Dayney has made changes to her home to ensure he can get everywhere easily. This includes a special ramp or stairs that helps Willie climb up on the sofa to cuddle with his owner whenever he likes, with Dayney explaining: "We always use stairs for him since dachshunds are prone to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), a back issue, so he's used to them." Piet Dayney notices her dachshund, Willie, staring her down. Piet Dayney notices her dachshund, Willie, staring her down. TikTok @its_williethecoween But when Dayney hired a cleaner to spruce up the home, Willie was left outraged when his special stairs suddenly led to nowhere. In a video to her TikTok account, @its_willithecoween on April 15, viewed more than 1.4 million times, Dayney showed Willie standing up, making intense eye contact with her. As she moved closer, it was revealed Willie was standing on his special stairs, but it had been moved to the side of the sofa, leading nowhere, and making him unable to jump up on the furniture. "When our cleaner forgot to put his couch stairs back," Dayney wrote over the video, alongside the caption: "Ummm... excuse me? Couch please?" She explained to Newsweek: "I just walked in on him being baffled he couldn't make it up to his napping spot since they weren't in their usual space. "He clearly made eye contact to tell me he was ready for them to move!" TikTok users loved it, awarding the video more than 90,000 likes, as one commenter wrote: "Not the stairs to nowhere." "I'm not arriving where this usually takes me," another joked. Willie stands on his stairs, which are leading to nowhere after the cleaner moved them away from the sofa. TikTok @its_williethecoween Others shared their own stories, one recalling moving their dog's stairs to vacuum, and their pet "ran up to them and right off the end like a cartoon character. Poor girl was shocked." "I moved our ramp to clean the floor and forgot to put it back. The oldest dachshund barked and I walked in to all 5 lined up on the ramp to no where," another laughed. Stairs or a ramp for dogs can be beneficial for multiple reasons, including for senior or arthritic dogs, small dogs, and breeds prone to back issues, including dachshunds who can develop IVDD, where changes occur to the protective material around the spinal cord, according to the AKC.
