Celtics' Joe Mazzulla had hilarious reaction to Jordan Walsh Summer League ejection
Third-year Boston Celtics combo forward Jordan Walsh was in the midst of a pretty efficient run in the second quarter of a Summer League clash against the Miami Heat when he got a pair of quick technical fouls and saw himself ejected from the contest. The 6-foot-7 Arkansas product couldn't quite crack head coach Joe Mazzulla's rotation on the 61-21 Celtics in 2024-25. In the 52 games he did play, he was generally on the floor for 7.8 mop-up minutes per. In those contests, Walsh averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 boards. Advertisement Now, in his third straight Summer League appearance, Walsh is looking to make waves. Unfortunately, his intensity was dialed up a bit high early, when he got into the aforementioned fracas with Heat forward Pelle Larsson. As Noa Dalzell of SB Nation indicates, the battle happened just in front of incoming majority owner Bill Chisholm and team president Brad Stevens. The Heat went on to eke out a narrow 100-96 victory with Walsh on the shelf in the game's second half. In just 10:06 of action, Walsh scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor (1-of-2 from distance) and 2-of-2 shooting from the foul line, pulled down three rebounds, and swiped two steals, while notching a plus-5 plus-minus. Advertisement After the contest, Walsh revealed that he apologized to Stevens for the incident, per Dalzell. 'That's not really me," Walsh said. "I'm more of a professional than that, more mature than that, so I just wanted to make sure that he knew that he knew that this wasn't gonna be a continuous thing." Mazzulla, on the other hand, seemed to revel in Walsh's intensity from afar (he's not coaching in Summer League). Mazzulla texted Walsh after the ejection to indicate his enthusiasm for the moment. 'He told me he loved it," Walsh said. "Joe was hype.' MORE NEWS:Rookie Hugo Gonzalez reveals two favorite Celtics growing up

Phoenix Suns Legend Earns Strong All-Time Ranking Despite 'Late Bloomer' Prime
Phoenix Suns Legend Earns Strong All-Time Ranking Despite 'Late Bloomer' Prime originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Suns have had many legends play for their franchise and they are also watching one of their franchise's best players continue to play for them now in Devin Booker, who is the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Advertisement While Booker still has many years left in his career, likely to all come in Phoenix due to him wanting to play his entire career with one franchise, other legends have also worn the orange and purple. Steve Nash addresses the crowd before the NBA All-Star Game.© Bob Donnan-Imagn Images One of those players was Steve Nash who dominated the 2000s with the Suns and he was recognized as one of the NBA's top 100 players on Bleacher Report's list. Bleacher Report ranked Nash No. 37 on their all-time list and mentioned that he could have been higher on it if he did not enter his prime later in his career. 'After leading some of the top era-adjusted offenses of all time with the Dallas Mavericks in 2002 and 2003, Nash landed in Phoenix and enjoyed one of the great late-bloomer primes in league history,' Bleacher Report's NBA staff wrote. 'He captained the 'Seven Seconds or Less' Phoenix Suns to elite scoring marks, winning back-to-back MVPs in his age-30 and age-31 campaigns. Nash's four 50/40/90 seasons are the most in NBA history. Not bad for a guy who also ranks fifth in total assists.' Advertisement Of course, Nash had a successful six seasons with the Dallas Mavericks but after returning to the Suns in 2004, he became one of the league's best players during his time. In Phoenix, Nash won back-to-back MVP awards, though many will debate if he deserved them, and he also led the way for Mike D'Antoni's offense. Rebilas-Imagn Images During his career, Nash was a two-time MVP, eight-time All-Star and seven-time All-NBA selection. There is no doubt that Nash is one of the greatest point guards in league history thanks to his assist numbers and shooting efficiency but if he had entered his prime earlier in his career, he may be much higher on Bleacher Report's list. Pacers' Johnny Furphy throws down dunk of the Summer League in wild poster over Noa Essengue
The NBA's Summer League in Las Vegas is just getting started, but Johnny Furphy has already laid claim to what should easily go down as the dunk of the event. Furphy, after weaving his way up the court in the second quarter of the Indiana Pacers' matchup with the Bulls, cocked back and threw down a wild one-handed slam over Chicago rookie Noa Essengue on Monday afternoon at Cox Pavillion in Las Vegas. The replay and photos that came out of it were somehow even better. Essengue was taken by the Bulls took out of France with the No. 12 overall pick in the draft earlier this summer. He didn't stand a chance on the play. Advertisement Furphy is fresh off his rookie season in the league last season with the Pacers, who he helped reach the NBA Finals. After being selected with the No. 35 overall pick out of Kansas in the 2024 NBA Draft, Furphy averaged just shy of eight minutes per game last season for the Pacers. He averaged 14.3 points in the 10 games he played with their G League affiliate, too. Furphy had 11 points at halftime on Monday night. He finished with 15 points and shot 5-of-9 from the field in the Pacers' 114-105 loss to the Bulls. Essengue finished with 21 points for Chicago. While there is plenty of time left for someone to go after the 'Dunk of the Summer League' title, Furphy has set the bar incredibly high. That poster, which Essengue somehow already found himself on the wrong side of, is going to be very hard to beat.
