Piardi, Amashukeli, and O'Keeffe to referee Lions Tests
WORLD RUGBY HAS confirmed that Andrea Piardi, Nika Amashukeli, and Ben O'Keeffe will referee the three Tests between the British & Irish Lions and Australia this summer.
New Zealand's O'Keeffe will referee the first Test in Brisbane, Italian referee Andrea Piardi will be in charge for the second clash in Melbourne, and Georgian official Nika Amashukeli will be on the whistle for the final Test in Sydney.

32-year-old Piardi and 30-year-old Amashukeli will become the first Italian and Georgian to referee British and Irish Lions Tests.
The same trio of match officials will act as assistant referees for each of the three games Down Under, while Marius Jonker, Richard Kelly, and Eric Gauzins will rotate as the television match officials [TMOs] and foul play review officers [FPROs].
James Doleman, O'Keeffe, Paul Williams, Pierre Brousset, and Piardi will referee the Lions' warm-up games ahead of their three clashes with the Wallabies.
Before travelling to Australia for the Lions Test, Piardi will referee Ireland's clash with Georgia on 5 July. Adam Leal and Ben Whitehouse will be his assistants for that game in Tbilisi, with Matteo Liperini on TMO duty.
English referee Leal will take charge of Ireland's second summer Test against Portugal in Lisbon on 12 July. He will be assisted by Whitehouse and Anthony Woodthorpe, with Liperini named as the TMO again.

Lions team named as big injury blow confirmed and Irish pair make first start
Andy Farrell admits Tomos Williams will be sorely missed by the British and Irish Lions after being ruled out of the tour of Australia due to a severe hamstring injury. Williams, one of just two Welshmen selected by the Lions, is set to journey back home on Monday following Farrell's announcement that the injury sustained while nailing his second try against Western Force on Saturday will keep him off the pitch for the "medium to long term". In light of Williams' departure, Ben White has been called up from the Scotland squad in New Zealand to step in, with his arrival scheduled for Monday, alongside Blair Kinghorn who's now freed up after contributing to Toulouse's triumph in the Top 14 final. The situation marks a twist of fate for Williams, whose performances thus far had earned him a glowing reputation and placed him in the running for a spot against the Wallabies; he leaves behind a tour where he shone significantly, rendering him the previous season's Gallagher Premiership player par excellence. "It's shocking news for us all. We're not just going to miss an outstanding player – he played unbelievably well and it was some try that he was actually injured by," lamented Farrell. "We're also going to miss the bloke. We have only been together for a few weeks now but his character is everything you want to have in your group on a Lions tour. Ireland's fullback Hugo Keenan and scrumhalf Jamison Gibson-Park will get their first taste of action on the Lions tour in Wednesday's match against the Queensland Reds. Lions coach Andy Farrell again rung the changes in his team for the second tour match in Australia against the Reds at Brisbane's Lang Park. The Irish pair, who were both struggling with injury niggles, feature in a backline that will again be steered by flyhalf Finn Russell. Keenan, who had been carrying a calf injury in recent weeks, said the plan was always for him to return for the Reds game.
