Nebraska to host class of 2026 defensive back
Nebraska football will get a visit from a top corner target, as Danny Odem will visit the Huskers from June 20-22nd. This was reported by HuskerOnline's Bryan Munson on Sunday. (Subscription needed)
Odem is a three-star corner. According to the On3 Recruiting Rankings, he is the 50th overall corner in the 2026 class and the 97th overall player in his class from the state of Florida. Odem previously spoke highly of coach Matt Rhule earlier this month and has a strong relationship with defensive backs coach Addison Williams.
The corner recorded 45 tackles, two interceptions, three pass deflections, and a fumble recovery in his junior season. He also played on the offensive side of the football and tallied five receptions for 40 yards on the year, according to statistics from Maxpreps.com.
The Huskers 2026 recruiting class ranks 32nd overall nationally, per the On3 Team Recruiting rankings. Odem would be the second player from Florida in the class, joining CJ Bronaugh as the other one.
It will be interesting to see where Nebraska falls in this commitment. The Florida connections of the Huskers coaching staff undoubtedly play a role here. His strong relationship with Rhule could also be beneficial. Nebraska undoubtedly has a chance to make a strong impression during the June visit.

Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck believes Nebraska is ready for next step under Matt Rhule

As Nebraska football enters year three of the Matt Rhule era, other coaches around the Big Ten are starting to take notice. While speaking at Big Ten media days, Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck had nothing but nice things to say about the Huskers and believes Rhule is waking up a sleeping giant. "One of the most dangerous teams in the Big Ten is Nebraska. I know what Matt Rhule created at Temple. I know what he did at Baylor. I know what type of human being he is. He's awakening it, that's for sure." Rhule enters his third season at Nebraska with a record of 12-13. The head coach has a track record of his program taking a significant step forward in year three. While at Temple, Rhule went from 2-10 in his first season to 10-4 in year three. While at Baylor, he went from a 1-11 record in his first season to an 11-3 mark in year three. Fleck has had success against the Huskers since becoming the head coach of the Golden Gophers. He holds a record of 6-1 against the Cornhuskers, having won the last five games in the series. Minnesota will host Nebraska on October 17. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT. The Huskers will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when they face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Nebraska volleyball claims top spot in Big Ten preseason poll

The Nebraska volleyball team has been selected as the Big Ten's top team in the coaches' 2025 preseason poll. The league's 18 coaches voted the Huskers as the conference's No. 1 team, with Penn State ranked second, followed by Wisconsin, which placed third. The Huskers are coming off their fifth Big Ten title in 2024 with a 19-1 conference record. They finished the season with a 33-3 record and reached the NCAA Semifinals. The program enters the 2025 season under new leadership after the surprise retirement of former head coach John Cook. Former Louisville head coach Dani Busboom Kelly replaced Cook. The Big Ten's coaches have also noticed the individual talent the Huskers roster holds this season. Four Huskers were named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. Andi Jackson is a junior middle blocker. She was an AVCA All-America First Team member and a unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honoree last season. Harper Murray is a junior outside hitter. She was an AVCA Second Team All-American last year and led the Huskers in kills with 3.40 per set. Bergen Reilly is a junior setter. She is coming off her second straight AVCA All-America Second Team honors and is the first player in conference history to win Big Ten Setter of the Year as both a freshman and sophomore. Rebekah Allick is a senior middle blocker. She averaged 1.82 kills per set in 2024 with a career-best .357 hitting percentage. She had a team-high 1.43 blocks per set. She was an All-Big Ten Second Team selection in 2022 and 2023. Earlier this week, Jackson, Murray, and Reilly were named to the AVCA Player of the Year watch list. The three juniors are among the 30 players named to the list. Nebraska will begin the 2025 season on Friday, August 22, when the Huskers host Pittsburgh at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Barstool Sports ranks Nebraska's Dylan Raiola as one of the Big Ten's best quarterbacks

Another round of rankings arrived this week for Big Ten quarterbacks, with Barstool Sports' Brandon Walker releasing his preseason list. Nebraska's Dylan Raiola found himself in the top ten, nestled in the No. 6 spot. Raiola's been finding himself ranked highly among quarterbacks across the league. The Athletic put him No. 40 across all 136 starting quarterbacks, and USA TODAY Sports placed him at No. 17. According to Walker, Raiola is ranked higher than eight of the nine Big Ten quarterbacks Nebraska's set to face this season. The one quarterback ranked higher than Raiola that will play Nebraska this season is Penn State's Drew Allar, who sits atop the list, with Illinois's Luke Altmyer in second. Although Ohio State has not yet named a starter, the position of 'Buckeyes starting QB' is ranked third. Incoming Michigan freshman Bryce Underwood sits at No. 10, who Nebraska is set to face in September. Raiola and the Huskers are already entering the season with high expectations following their 7-6 season and victory in the Bad Boy Mowers' Pinstripe Bowl. Last year, Raiola led FBS freshmen in completion percentage and also ranked 14th nationally in completion percentage, tossing 275-for-410. His mark is also the best completion percentage by a freshman in school history. Raiola also set the freshman record at Nebraska in passing yards, racking up 2,819 yards. He also ranked third among all freshmen in passing yards and was a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year award. Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
