Kamal Nath claims 2023 assembly poll results influenced by 8% fake voters
Bhopal: Former chief minister Kamal Nath on Saturday alleged that BJP won the 2023 assembly election through fake voters. He said that in the 2018 assembly poll, both Congress and BJP got nearly the same percentage of votes. But in the next election, while Congress' vote percentage remained constant, BJP's vote numbers increased by 8%. Now, it has been revealed that 8 to 10% of voters in the state would be reduced when voter identification is linked to Aadhar cards. Linking of voters to Aadhar cards would be completed before the 2028 assembly election by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Taking to X, Kamal Nath said, "It has come to light that there are approximately 55-57 lakh fake voters in Madhya Pradesh. This number accounts for about 8-10% of the total voters in the state. Based on these very voters, the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election of 2023 was conducted." He argued, "Even before the election, the Congress Party repeatedly complained to the Election Commission (EC) about the presence of a large number of fake voters. The Congress Party also raised complaints about cases where more than a hundred voters were registered at a single address and provided photographs of the houses to the EC. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tại sao CFD tiền mã hóa có thể phù hợp với danh mục đầu tư của bạn IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Unfortunately, at that time, no appropriate action was taken against these fake voters. " Nath reasoned that in 2018, the vote percentage of Congress and the BJP was almost equal, at around 40%. "And in the 2023 assembly election, Congress's vote percentage remained around 40%, whereas the BJP's vote percentage saw a sudden jump of 8%. Is it merely a coincidence that the number of voters now being reported as fake corresponds closely to the additional 8% votes that the BJP received in the 2023 Assembly election?" the Congress veteran asked. This report that 8% to 10% of voters would be reduced when 100% of voters are linked to Aadhar cards makes it clear that the results of the 2023 Assembly election in Madhya Pradesh are not beyond the realm of suspicion, he said. "Later, a similar issue of large-scale voter inflation was raised in Maharashtra by the Lok Sabha LOP Rahul Gandhi himself. Time has now come for the public to become fully aware of their voting rights and ensure that every eligible voter registers their name and the names of ineligible individuals are removed," Kamal Nath said. "It is also clear here that the identification of fake voters is possible because their voter ID cards are being linked with Aadhaar cards. Therefore, the EC must, under all circumstances, include the Aadhaar card as a mandatory document for voter identification," he added. MSID:: 122408723 413 |

Blatant negligence: Activists slam delay in Assam coal mine tragedy report
Pressure is mounting on the Assam government to make public the judicial enquiry report into the Umrangso coal mine tragedy, over six months after nine workers died in a flooded illegal mine in Dima Hasao incident, which occurred on January 6, 2025, triggered a massive 44-day operation involving the Indian Navy and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). All nine bodies were eventually recovered by February the tragedy, the state government had set up a judicial commission led by retired Gauhati High Court judge Justice Anima Hazarika. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had assured that the commission would submit its report within three months. However, six months later, the findings remain under wraps, sparking fresh outrage among rights groups and locals. Daniel Langthasa, convenor of the Sixth Schedule Protection Committee and a former member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), lashed out at the government for the delay.'The commission was given three months. Six months have passed, but the government has not shared the report. There is no update, and those responsible for the illegal mining that caused this tragedy are yet to be punished,' he a 2014 ban by the National Green Tribunal, rat-hole mining - a hazardous and outdated method - continues unchecked across Umrangso.A post-tragedy survey found at least 220 illegal rat-hole coal mines operating in the area. Langthasa questioned the role of the BJP-ruled NCHAC, asking, 'How could the council be unaware of 220 mines? This is blatant negligence, if not complicity.'So far, only one person - Punish Nunisa - has been arrested in the case, but activists fear he is being made a scapegoat. They allege a larger, more powerful network of illegal mining operators remains the Chief Minister had earlier announced that all illegal mines would be identified and shut down with help from central agencies, locals say little has changed on the ground. 'There is no visible action. Illegal mining continues. The government must act,' Langthasa also linked the illegal mining ecosystem to broader law and order issues in the insurgency-hit district. Pointing to a rise in kidnappings, mysterious deaths and drug abuse, he accused the NCHAC of failing to protect tribal land and allowing the quiet transfer of protected land to private coke plant operators without village council the situation a 'social crisis,' Langthasa warned of long-term consequences. 'People commit crimes when they lose hope in those in power,' he said, urging the government to make the commission's report public, punish those responsible, and ensure justice for the families of the victims.- Ends

Tulsi to titan: Performance politics
In the great gladiatorial arena of Indian public life, few figures have fought harder, flared brighter, or fallen faster than 49-year-old Smriti Zubin Irani. Fewer still possess the gall and guile to return with such operatic flair. The reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT), premiering July 29, marks Irani's renaissance. It's not regression; it's re-entry. A recalibrated cultural conquest. Comebacks in politics arrive cloaked in symbolism, charged with subtext, and choreographed for resonance. Hence, the Tulsi-Irani redux isn't nostalgia; it's narrative warfare. Once Tulsi was the sanskari sovereign of Indian television. Now, back to being Tulsi again, Irani is showing off a shrewd recalibration of power, presence, and persona. Born in 1976 in a modest Delhi household, her political ascent was not bestowed; it was built by her from scratch. From wiping tables at McDonald's to ruling the primetime as Tulsi Virani in Ekta Kapoor's cultural colossus, she embodied middle-class mythos with magnetic precision. But ambition is a hungry beast. Irani, never one to be typecast, pivoted to politics in 2003, entering the BJP without pedigree but with panache. The nation scoffed. The party watched. And she worked relentlessly, rhetorically, ruthlessly.
