Tesco shoppers say 'why have you stopped it?' as supermarket axes Clubcard deal

Daily Mirror6 hours ago
Tesco has axed a popular Clubcard deal on its own-brand canned fizzed drinks - leaving shoppers furious. The supermarket used to offer a six for £1.80 deal on certain cans of its fizzy drinks.
Some of the flavours included in the deal were Orange Zero, Diet Lemonade, Lemon and Lime Zero, Cream Soda and Ginger Beer. Each can normally costs 55p, which means you saved £1.50 thanks to the offer.
However, the promotion was pulled shortly before the UK was hit with heatwave conditions and temperatures hit 34C, according to The Sun.
One annoyed Tesco shopper posted on X: "Why have you stopped your Clubcard offer on mixed cans of your own brand soft drinks - 6 for £1.50?
"I have used this offer for months as I find the flavour is very good, especially the ginger beer which I think is as good as any other make."

Another customer said in a review on the Tesco website: "Very disappointed now Tesco stopped selling it in my local store, had to buy on line [sic] and now charging 55p a can no longer on the multi deal."
The Mirror has contacted Tesco for comment. It comes after the supermarket announced it is launching an online store just for its clothing brand F&F.
Shoppers can currently browse some of the range online, but you can't actually place an order or buy any of the items.
Tesco shoppers used to be able to buy F&F clothing through its non-food Tesco Direct website, but this was shut down in 2018. The collection was also available to buy online through Next - but the retailer stopped selling F&F in January 2024.
The supermarket teased the launch of a new website in its latest financial results, where it said "launch of F&F clothing is scheduled to go live for customers in the year ahead".
Tesco launched its new Tesco Marketplace website earlier this year, which lists products for sale from third-party sellers. The website now stocks more than 300,000 products - up by more than 3,000% from when the website launched in June 2024.
Orders are delivered separately from your grocery shop, with marketplace items incurring their own, separate delivery fees. However, you still earn Tesco Clubcard points on all purchases.
All the sellers who use Tesco Marketplace are monitored on delivery speed, returns, and delivery success rates. At its launch, Tesco Marketplace director Peter Filcek told The Grocer it wants shoppers to have a "one-stop shop" for everything they need.

Major food and drinks business that supplies Aldi & Tesco is on edge of collapse with staff ‘totally devastated'

Plus, other firms that have gone bust this month NOT SUPER Major food and drinks business that supplies Aldi & Tesco is on edge of collapse with staff 'totally devastated' A MAJOR baby food manufacturer is facing liquidation as the business is on the verge of collapse. Workers are "totally devastated" as they are about to lose their livelihood. 1 A major food manufacturer is on the verge of closure Credit: Alamy Nourisher, which produces and supplies yogurts, soups and tray meals to Aldi and Tesco, is reportedly shutting down. The Totton-based firm is set to have its assets sold to settle debts, according to Daily Echo. Devastated workers Around 100 locals who are employed by the company are now facing the grim prospect of losing their jobs. The staff have been crushed to learn the news as they struggle to make ends meet. Team leader Alan Morgan, who worked at Nourisher for six years, told Daily Echo: "Totally devastated after six years. "We had a text saying don't come into work until further notice. "Then we were told that they were looking for an administrator, then they said they were looking for a buyer, then they appointed an administrator, then back to waiting for an administrator, it's all been lies after lies." Alan hasn't received his paycheck for over 12 weeks, and he's not the only worker left to fend for himself. He continued: "Because of this, my bills couldn't be paid. "I had a letter from the landlord seeking possession of my car and bike finance unpaid, struggling to put food on the table, and there are about 50 of us left sorting things out to survive." Liquidation meeting scheduled The company has generated millions of pounds in sales annually, producing goods for companies like Mamia. But it is now awaiting closure with a meeting scheduled in London today to nominate joint liquidators, according to an official notice. Finbarr Thomas O'Connell and Clare Lloyd, both insolvency professionals from S&W Partners LLP, have been identified as the company's potential liquidators. The company is currently led by Ajay Chowdhary who was appointed just a month prior following the dismissal of the former directors. The Sun has reached out to Nourisher for comment. Other closures It comes after a major manufacturer has suddenly shut down due to "very difficult" market conditions. The furniture maker, which supplied "leading brands" across the UK, had to cease trading. Andrew Paul Furniture, which manufactured bespoke chairs and sofas, has closed down after a decline in sales. The firm stopped trading on June 26 after 15 years on the market and is about to go into liquidation. Meanwhile, a popular 138 year old bakery is set to axe 250 jobs following two very difficult years. Roberts Bakers, which supplies products to major supermarkets like Asda, Morrisons, and Tesco, is set to slash its workforce at its factory in Cheshire. The decision follows two years of tough challenges, including a devastating fire in 2023 that severely disrupted operations. The bakery, which employs around 700 people, said it had lost two-thirds of its bread production capacity for over a year after the fire.

Tesco expands food support for Glasgow kids this summer

Tesco is extending its help through the Stronger Starts programme, with targeted support for children who normally receive free school meals but risk going hungry during the summer break. The package includes pre-packed food donation bags, school grants, café meal deals, and the chance for customers to round up their purchases at the till from August 25 to 31. (Image: Supplied) Claire De Silva, head of communities at Tesco, said: "Too often, families with too little support during the holidays worry about their children's physical and mental health, particularly if they're not getting the good food every child deserves. "If we all pull together over the summer, whether that's popping a few tins into a food collection point, picking up a food donation bag in our stores or rounding up our grocery bill, we can make a difference to the lives of thousands of children, who, without support, could have a tough summer holiday." Read more: I played under Steven Gerrard at Rangers - he's the reason I've now had big move The pre-packed donation bags, available in all large Tesco stores, contain long-life, nutritious food items and cost between £2 and £3. These will be distributed by FareShare and the Trussell Trust to food banks and charities across the UK. Emma Revie, chief executive officer of the Trussell Trust, said: "We are extremely grateful to our partner Tesco and excited for this year's in-store summer activities, making it easier for people to support their local food bank throughout the holidays. 'It's not right that so many families with children can't afford to eat balanced meals. "Our community of food banks distributed more than 1 million parcels for children last year, illustrating the unacceptable levels of hardship so many families are currently facing." Tesco is also supporting 400 schools in its Fruit and Veg for Schools programme with £200 gift cards to help run summer breakfast and lunch clubs.
