Kay Adams' first pitch at Cubs game wasn't even close to what she wanted

New York Post18 hours ago
FanDuel TV host Kay Adams said she wanted 'accuracy' when she threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field before the Cubs-Guardians game Wednesday.
However, it didn't go as planned for the host of the 'Up & Adams' show.
Adams threw the ball near the first base line, and Chicago's mascot, Clark the Cub, had to run after it.

The Chicago native, who sported a Henry Rowengartner jersey from the Cubs-centric movie 'Rookie of the Year,' hugged Clark afterwards.
She was a good sport about it and joked with some fans on X.

Adams also dedicated her first pitch to legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, who died in January.
Chicago went on to beat Cleveland, 5-4.

In a separate video, Adams explained that she was initially scheduled to throw the first pitch at Tuesday's Cubs game, but she missed it after getting a call to fly to Kansas City and interview Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
'The Cubs being truly incredible were like, 'You know what, you can do it Wednesday,'' Adams said in the video ahead of Wednesday's game. 'I was scratched last night. A little elbow soreness. I don't know what my ERA is.

'I have no power. I have withered to bone. I just want accuracy. I'm going to stand in front of the mound.'

When it comes to bad first pitches, Adams isn't in a club of her own.
Last month, former Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan went viral for his awful first pitch at a Cardinals game.
Lewan threw the ball near the first base on-deck circle where several people jumped out of the way.
'Juuuuuust a bit outside,' the Titans X account wrote at the time, referencing Uecker's call from the movie 'Major League.'
'My own team,' Lewan replied with a sad face emoji.
The southpaw, who called it 'the worst day of my athletic career,' vowed to redeem himself.
50 Cent still gets trolled for his visit to Citi Field, where he couldn't help but laugh at his terrible first pitch attempt for the Mets in 2014.

If you would like to bet on one of the baseball games, you might want to look into some prop bets as opposed to just a simple moneyline bet. Predicting the winner of an individual baseball game is hard, no matter how lopsided the matchup looks. It might be better to wager on a pitcher to strike a certain number of batters out or a player to record a hit. This strategy could be used for the CWC games, too. Prop bets could be more favorable when it comes to finding one that has a high likelihood of winning. No matter the market you choose, wait for your bet to settle once you place it. If you win, you will receive $150 in bonus bets that will be valid for the next week. Jeremiyah Love Linked to Bears in 2026 Mock Draft

Jeremiyah Love Linked to Bears in 2026 Mock Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The arrival of Ben Johnson as the Bears' new head coach has brought with it fresh philosophies, offensive recalibrations—and a spotlight on one lingering uncertainty: the running back position. While Chicago opted not to select Ashton Jeanty in the 2025 NFL Draft, that choice could come full circle in 2026, especially if the current backfield depth fails to impress this season. Advertisement Jeremiyah Love, the electric Notre Dame standout, might be the solution already forming in the minds of Chicago's brass. ESPN's Matt Miller recently floated Love as a potential first-round target in his 2026 NFL mock draft, and the fit is undeniable. At 6-foot, 206 pounds, Love combines physicality with burst—racking up 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns as a sophomore. Chicago Bears helmetGetty Images But it's not just his downhill running that stands out. His 98-yard touchdown sprint against Indiana in the first round of the playoffs showcased a second gear that few in college football possess. Jeremiyah LoveGetty Images He continued to contribute throughout Notre Dame's playoff run. Love followed up his explosive outing against Indiana with a hard-fought performance against Georgia, added 46 yards on the ground against Penn State in the semifinals, and collected six receptions across the four-game stretch. Advertisement While he was held in check by Ohio State in the title game—partly due to playing through a knee injury, his postseason production still highlighted his consistency and big-play potential. If Chicago's current committee approach stagnates or injuries pile up, don't be surprised if the Bears break the trend and go after a first-round running back in 2026. And if they do, Jeremiyah Love may already be at the top of the list. BetMGM Bonus Code WIREBG150: Score $150 Bonus for Fourth of July MLB Rivalries & More

Major League Baseball is celebrating the Fourth of July by giving a bunch of All-American rivalries like Yankees vs Mets and Cardinals vs Cubs. If you plan to amplify your holiday with a wager or two, then check out the BetMGM bonus code WIREBG150 that gives you $150 in bonus bets when you win a $10 first bet. Here's the star-spangled scoop: If you're a new bettor in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania or West Virginia, then you gain three $50 bonus bets (plus your winnings) just for winning a $10 first bet. New bettors in other states where BetMGM operates can jump on the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE that delivers a protected first bet up to $1,500. Both of these welcome offers rank among the biggest sportsbook promos available to new bettors. Though the Yankees and the Mets closed out June on a bit of a slide, they're still destined to make the playoffs and make some noise once there. When these teams met in The Bronx in mid-May, the Yankees took two out of three. As for the Cubs and Cardinals, the Cubs' recent struggles have turned the NL Central into a three-team race with the Brewers. The Cubs and Cards split a four-game set in St. Louis last week, so this weekend's three-game set should be similar. Some other big series to keep an eye on: Boston at Washington, Cincinnati at Philadelphia, Houston at the Los Angeles Dodgers and the (sort of) Bay Series between San Francisco and the Athletics. To track the latest odds on all MLB games and player props, download the BetMGM app because it's one of the nation's best sports betting apps. You don't have to wait for dark to enjoy some fireworks. Hit the nearest BET NOW button and then type in either the BetMGM bonus code WIREBG150 or the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE and you'll be on your way to bonus bets and/or a huge protected first bet. BetMGM Bonus Code Promos: Get $150 in Bonus Bets or $1500 First-Bet Offer The John Deere Classic isn't one of the big-name events on the PGA Tour, but the long-running tournament near the Illinois-Iowa border has a history of introducing great golfers to the world. Jordan Spieth won it as a teenager. Bryson DeChambeau earned his first title at the John Deere. So did Michael Kim. Who'll step up this week? Check the latest golf odds at BetMGM. Don't forget: Now's a good time to look ahead to Saturday's matchups at Wimbledon as well as what's happening with this weekend's auto races: Formula 1's British Grand Prix, NASCAR's street race in Chicago and IndyCar's Grand Prix of Ohio. Oh, and FIFA's Club World Cup delivers a doozy early Saturday with Paris Saint-Germain facing Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals. That's one of the dream matchups FIFA hoped for when they created this tournament. To be prepared for a magical Fourth of July weekend, now's the time to sign up for one of BetMGM's big welcome offers. Here's how: If you're signed up for the $1,500 BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE, place your first bet on any of today's matchups (or any other set of odds), and if it settles as a loss, you'll get bonus bets back. For wagers of $50 and up, the refund comes as five equal bonus bets, while smaller wagers get a single matching credit. With the BetMGM bonus code WIREBG150, you can wager on any set of odds, and if it comes back as a win, you get your winnings plus three $50 bet credits.
