Ian Happ Makes Cubs' History With Multi-Homer Game
Ian Happ Makes Cubs' History With Multi-Homer Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Cubs' offense has been on fire all season long, and Saturday that continued, led by Ian Happ's two home runs in his first two at-bats. Happ launched a solo home run in the first inning to open the scoring and gave the Cubs a six-run lead with a three-run blast in the second inning. Happ has now hit four home runs in his last three games, and has 11 on the season. The Cubs' outfielder now has 161 home runs in his career. However, Happ's multi-homer game also made Cubs history on Saturday. The nine-year veteran collected his 17th career multi-homer game as a Cub, which moved him past Kris Bryant for 15th all-time in franchise history. "Really cool," Happ told the Marquee Sports Network. "Just being here and being available and being out there on the field, anytime you're on a list with those guys - names of all-time Cubs greats - it's really cool." Happ is in his ninth year in the MLB, all coming in Chicago. The veteran outfielder has become a Cubs' fan favorite, and Saturday etched his name further into the franchise's history books. Bryant played six years with the Cubs from 2015 to 2020 and displayed plenty of power during his time in Chicago. In his five seasons where he played at least 100 games, Bryant averaged over 27 home runs a year and hit better than .280. Happ and Bryant overlapped for four years with the Cubs from 2017-2020. Over his nine-year career with the Cubs, Happ has been one of the most reliable players. He's averaged about a .250 BA, .800 OPS, 25 HRs, and 80 RBI per season. Happ is about on pace with his career averages so far in 2025, despite dealing with an injury earlier in the season. The Cubs outfielder began June with just three home runs, but has hit eight this month as his bat has heated up. "When you're sitting there middle of May with three homers, definitely frustrated," Happ told Marquee Sports Network. "Just want to do more and want to help more. But I've done this long enough and I have confidence that it's going to show up at some point. Just keep making the right swings." The Cubs are back in action Sunday to wrap up a three-game set with the Mariners. Happ now has 11 home runs on the season and 161 career long bombs. The next players on the Cubs' all-time home run list are Andre Dawson (174) and Derrek Lee (179). Happ has more than half the season remaining, and if he keeps up with his career averages, he could continue to make Cubs history in story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 22, 2025, where it first appeared.

Current Cubs All-Star Shows Love to Former Cubs All-Star
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Four seasons ago, the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets made a trade that would change the course of both franchises. Chicago sent shortstop Javier Baez and Trevor Williams to New York in return for 19-year-old centerfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong. Fast forward to Tuesday, and both Crow-Armstrong and Baez started in centerfield for their respective All-Star teams. Crow-Armstrong had the chance to speak about Baez and what it meant to be in the same All-Star game four years after being traded for each other. Matt Dirksen/"I'm proud of him," Crow-Armstrong said in a video posted to X by Marquee Sports Network. "He doesn't need that but I'm really happy to see what he's done with Detroit. He's really deserving of it, and he's earned it." "It's not easy to go play a new position and that ballpark, that outfield is huge, so being able to be considered the best AL centerfielder of the first half is a huge testament to his work. I don't know what that's looked like, but it doesn't just happen, so yeah, I think it's really cool." 'He's really deserving of it, and he's earned it.' PCA gives his flowers to Javy Báez for being named the starting AL center fielder 👏 — Marquee Sports Network (@WatchMarquee) July 14, 2025 Baez has certainly put in the work after being considered one of baseball's worst players in each of the last two seasons. Last season may have been the worst of Baez's career, as he had a .184 average with just six home runs, 37 RBIs and a minus-1.1 WAR. This season has been the complete opposite, as he has a .275 average with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and a 2.1 WAR at the All-Star break. All those stats are the reason why Baez was the opposing centerfielder to Crow-Armstrong in the All-Star Game on Tuesday. The two had a chance to catch up for a brief moment prior to Tuesday's game and had a chance for a photo opportunity four years after being traded for one another. Kay Adams' first pitch at Cubs game wasn't even close to what she wanted
FanDuel TV host Kay Adams said she wanted 'accuracy' when she threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field before the Cubs-Guardians game Wednesday. However, it didn't go as planned for the host of the 'Up & Adams' show. Adams threw the ball near the first base line, and Chicago's mascot, Clark the Cub, had to run after it. Advertisement The Chicago native, who sported a Henry Rowengartner jersey from the Cubs-centric movie 'Rookie of the Year,' hugged Clark afterwards. She was a good sport about it and joked with some fans on X. Advertisement 3 Kay Adams threw out the first pitch at the July 2 Cubs game. X/Marquee Sports Network Adams also dedicated her first pitch to legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, who died in January. Chicago went on to beat Cleveland, 5-4. Advertisement In a separate video, Adams explained that she was initially scheduled to throw the first pitch at Tuesday's Cubs game, but she missed it after getting a call to fly to Kansas City and interview Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. 'The Cubs being truly incredible were like, 'You know what, you can do it Wednesday,'' Adams said in the video ahead of Wednesday's game. 'I was scratched last night. A little elbow soreness. I don't know what my ERA is. 3 Kay Adams is pictured at the 2024 ESPY Awards held at the Dolby Theatre. Variety via Getty Images 'I have no power. I have withered to bone. I just want accuracy. I'm going to stand in front of the mound.' Advertisement When it comes to bad first pitches, Adams isn't in a club of her own. Last month, former Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan went viral for his awful first pitch at a Cardinals game. Lewan threw the ball near the first base on-deck circle where several people jumped out of the way. 'Juuuuuust a bit outside,' the Titans X account wrote at the time, referencing Uecker's call from the movie 'Major League.' 'My own team,' Lewan replied with a sad face emoji. The southpaw, who called it 'the worst day of my athletic career,' vowed to redeem himself. 50 Cent still gets trolled for his visit to Citi Field, where he couldn't help but laugh at his terrible first pitch attempt for the Mets in 2014.

Cubs Anticipate Shota Imanaga Returning to Rotation During Cardinals Series
Cubs Anticipate Shota Imanaga Returning to Rotation During Cardinals Series originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Cubs have had issues with their starting rotation in 2025. From the Justin Steele season-ending injury to the Javier Assad setback, there have been a lot of question marks in the rotation. But, fortunately for the Cubs, there is some good news on the way. Advertisement According to Lance Brozdowski of Marquee Sports Network, during an appearance on the Rahimi and Harris show for 670 The Score, the Cubs are expected to get starting pitcher Shota Imanaga back in the next week. "I anticipate him [Imanaga] joining the team for the road trip," Brozdowski said. "He would lineup to probably pitch in those games against St. Louis, which would obviously be a really nice return, so we'll see." Imanaga returning for the Cubs' road trip, and specifically for the St. Louis Cardinals series, would have the Cubs getting their ace back within the next week. Brozdowski mentioned Imanaga was getting one more rehab start in Triple-A on Friday, June 20th. Advertisement So, if given normal rest, Imanaga could be making his return around June 25th against the Cardinals. While it may be an optimistic outlook, it's still a great sign that even if not against the Cardinals, barring a setback, Imanaga's return is right around the corner. Chicago Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga (18) walks toward the mound to be checked out by a trainer after being injured against the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth inning at American Family McLoone-Imagn Images He hasn't pitched since May 4th against the Milwaukee Brewers, when he was forced out of the game early as he suffered a hamstring issue. Now, with his rehab start projected to be his last, the Cubs are on the cusp of getting their ace back on the mound. Matthew Boyd, Jameson Taillon, Cade Horton, and Colin Rea have held it down in his absence, and each will likely remain in the rotation once Imanaga returns. Ben Brown, with his 5.57 ERA, will likely be the odd man out in the rotation. Advertisement Imanaga, before the injury, had a 2.82 ERA and a 3-2 record. Getting him back in the rotation would be a huge boost for the Cubs. Not only is it great for winning games, but his return should help determine how the team approaches the trade deadline. The Cubs have needed Imanaga, and with this report from Brozdowski, it seems like Imanaga's return is imminent. Sitting 5.5 games up in the NL Central, this news is great for the Cubs. Chicago Cubs broadcast leaves viewers stunned as Justin Turner is seen engaging in lewd celebration
Chicago Cubs fans were stunned on Thursday night as their team's home broadcast showed Justin Turner engaging in an extremely lewd celebration. Turner, 40, did not appear in the game for Chicago but was dubbed the 'Fan of the Game' by Marquee Sports Network, as they showed a clip of him celebrating with outfielder Seiya Suzuki. But the veteran Turner's cheers were from from typical, as the infielder was actually seen wearing a pair of fake testicles as he jumped up and down. The 2020 World Series champion smiled wide as he pumped his arms in the air while wearing the bizarre item, and fans couldn't believe that Marquee aired the NSFW moment. 'I was like is the camera guy blind or did he do it on purpose,' one fan asked on X, including a laughing-crying emoji in their post. 'Broadcast got some balls to show that,' a second joked. Suzuki rounds the bases after hitting a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning 'For most men, it's the simple things,' a third added. And a fourth said: 'Did we just win it all?' According to the New York Post, broadcasters Boog Sciambi and Jim Deshaies went silent for about 30 seconds afterwards as they seemingly realized what had happened on the broadcast. Nonetheless, it was a positive night for the Cubs as they beat the Pirates 3-2 to move to 42-27 on the year. Turner, in his 17th MLB season, has played a reserve role for the red-hot Cubs this season, only appearing in 38 games. In 110 plate appearances, he's hitting .213 with 11 RBIs and one home run. The Cubs have three more games against Pittsburgh this weekend before they'll welcome the Brewers to town.
