Under directives of the UAE President, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi approves Dh4.62bn housing benefits package for citizens ahead of Eid Al Adha
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has approved a housing benefits package worth Dh4.62 billion, benefiting 3,052 Emirati citizens across the emirate.The approved housing benefits package includes housing loans amounting to Dh4.4 billion benefiting 2,862 citizens, and exemptions from housing loan repayments totalling Dh212 million benefiting 190 citizens, limited-income retirees and beneficiaries of deceased citizens.The disbursement of the second housing package of 2025 comes ahead of Eid Al Adha and reflects the leadership's ongoing commitment to comprehensive development, enhancing the well-being and stability of Emirati families, empowering them to actively contribute to the nation's progress, in line with UAE Year of Community objectives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing community solidarity.This package brings the total housing benefits delivered to citizens in Abu Dhabi in 2025 to Dh11.38 billion.Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, said: 'The new housing benefits package reflects the leadership's commitment to empowering citizens through the provision of quality housing that promotes family stability and elevates quality of life. The housing benefits package follows the recent endorsement of an additional community support subsidy of Dh250,000 for existing beneficiaries of housing loans, including a reduction of up to 50 per cent in monthly loan instalments, and a wide range of other services and facilities.

This brings the total number of trucks transporting materials for the water infrastructure project to 45, with all necessary components now delivered and preparations underway for the project's implementation. On Saturday, July 26, UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan confirmed the Emirates would immediately resume airdrop operations to Gaza as part of its ongoing humanitarian mission. In a statement posted, the minister said the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a critical and unprecedented level, underscoring the urgent need for sustained international aid efforts. The UAE has also affirmed its support for the Palestinian people and stated that it will remain a humanitarian priority, and it will continue to coordinate with regional and international partners to ensure that aid reaches the areas most in need by all means — land, sea, and air. The UAE's aid has accounted for more than 44 per cent of the total international aid reaching the Gaza Strip. The airdrop initiative is to support civilians in isolated areas of the Strip that are inaccessible by land. The total amount of food and relief supplies dropped over the Gaza Strip since the launch of the 'Birds of Goodness' initiative, using 193 aircraft, amounts to approximately 3,725 tons. These supplies included basic food supplies and vital supplies to meet the needs of families affected by the difficult and catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Strip.

Dubai's financial centre registrations rise 32% in first half
The Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) said Monday that company registrations grew 32 per cent in the first half of the year as the financial hub welcomed 1,081 new companies, including asset management firms, hedge funds and family offices. The DIFC said in a statement that the total number of active companies at the Gulf's largest financial hub sat at 7,700 as of the end of June, up 25 per cent from the previous year. Hedge fund registrations surged 72 per cent since June 2024, with 85 funds now based in the Centre. New entrants included RV Capital and Silver Point Capital, which joined some of the industry's largest names that had already set up base in Dubai, such as Millenium and Point72. Innovation sectors also expanded, with 1,388 FinTech, AI and innovation-focused companies now operating in DIFC - a 28 per cent increase year-on-year. The hub also reported a 19 per cent increase in wealth management firms and a 73 per cent jump in entities associated with family businesses. The Centre's workforce grew to 47,900 professionals, up 9 per cent from the year earlier.
