Megastar Chiranjeevi's much-anticipated grand socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara has hit yet another hurdle. Initially announced during Sankranti 2024 and locked for a grand release on January 10, 2025, the film has seen prolonged delays.
According to a report by 123Telugu, the makers are now eyeing a new release window in the summer of 2026, owing to extensive delays in post-production and CG work.
The primary reason behind the delay appears to be the film's VFX-heavy narrative. As per the report, the CGI team initially promised to deliver the output in three months. However, Chiranjeevi's team, aiming for better quality, granted them six months instead.
Despite the extension, post-production has not progressed at the expected pace.
Earlier, while speaking with Telugu One about the setback, Chiranjeevi's long-time collaborator and producer Naga Babu Satyanarayana revealed, 'The team miscalculated how long it would take to shoot and later complete the CGI. The timeline offered by the VFX team wasn't realistic. They didn't want to lose the project, so they under-promised on the duration it would take.'
He also addressed the teaser that was released last year to a mixed response. It was created using AI-generated visuals. He revealed that the sequences were rendered at the last minute since the CGI wasn't ready in time. 'It's not proper CGI, and none of those visuals will be in the final film,' he stated.
Initially, 'Vishwambhara' was scheduled to hit cinemas during Sankranti 2025. However, the makers backed out once it became clear that Ram Charan's Game Changer was targeting the same festive slot.
'Vishwambhara' also stars
Trisha Krishnan
as the female lead.
With the film taking longer than expected, it is being suggested that Chiranjeevi's next project with director
Anil Ravipudi
will hit theatres first. That film is expected to be a mass commercial entertainer, with Nayanthara as the co-lead.
On another front, Chiranjeevi has also signed a film with Dasara director Srikanth Odela, which will be an action thriller.

Director Venky Atluri reveals he always shares his scripts with this actor: Find out who the star is
Picture Credit: X Venky Atluri is currently busy directing the highly anticipated, tentatively titled Suriya 46, starring Tamil superstar Suriya. In a recent media interaction, Atluri opened up about a rather interesting personal tradition he follows as a filmmaker. According to a report by 123Telugu, the 36-year-old director revealed that he has a unique habit of narrating his scripts first to Telugu actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, before approaching anyone else and even before locking his final cast or crew. Venky mentioned that despite their close creative exchange, he and Naga Chaitanya have not yet worked together. When asked why this promising collaboration hasn't materialized, Venky explained that scheduling conflicts and practical constraints have been the primary reasons for the delay. On the work front Venky Atluri had a successful last outing with Lucky Baskhar, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshi Chaudhary. He has also directed notable films like Tholi Prema and Sir, the latter featuring Dhanush in the lead. On the other hand, Naga Chaitanya was last seen in the romantic drama Thandel, co-starring Sai Pallavi. The film turned out to be his first to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. He is currently shooting for his upcoming film NC 24, directed by Virupaksha fame Karthik Varma Dandu. The supernatural thriller, which also stars Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead, is progressing at a brisk pace.

Not Khans, not Bachchan – Meet the 90s superstar who charged Rs 1.25 crore first: Chiranjeevi's unmatched rise and the legacy that rewrote stardom rules
Chiranjeevi While Shah Rukh Khan , Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan dominated Bollywood in the 90s, there was one name that had already revolutionised Indian cinema — and it didn't come from the Hindi film industry. Before the Khans or even Amitabh Bachchan entered the Rs 1 crore club, it was Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi who shattered the barrier and emerged as India's highest-paid actor of the decade. In 1992, The Week featured Chiranjeevi on its cover with the headline: "Bigger than Bachchan." At the time, he was reported to have commanded an unprecedented Rs 1.25 crore for his film Aapadbandhavudu, establishing a new financial benchmark in Indian cinema. According to the magazine, this placed him well ahead of other cinematic heavyweights like Rajinikanth, Sunny Deol, and Govinda — who were earning around Rs 50–60 lakh per film. The rise of a southern sensation Chiranjeevi's dominance didn't happen overnight. His consistent success in the Telugu film industry throughout the late 1980s and early 90s made him a household name across India. His magnetic screen presence, energetic dance moves, and mass appeal led to a streak of 14 consecutive hits in a single year, earning him the title: 'The New Money Machine' of Indian cinema. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Though he briefly dabbled in Bollywood with a few Hindi films, it was his towering status in South Indian cinema that secured his immortality. As The Week noted, when Amitabh Bachchan took a break from films in the early 90s, Chiranjeevi stepped in as India's most bankable star — a groundbreaking feat for a non-Bollywood actor at the time. A legacy that changed the game Chiranjeevi's financial milestone redefined how stardom was measured in Indian cinema. His move to command Rs 1 crore per film inspired other legends like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to follow suit. Eventually, Bollywood caught up, with Amitabh Bachchan becoming the first Hindi actor to reach that salary tier after his return to films. By the late 90s, the Bollywood trio — Shah Rukh, Salman, and Aamir — began commanding Rs 2–3 crore per movie. But it was Chiranjeevi who laid the foundation for this new era of superstar earnings. Still a giant Having acted in more than 150 films, Chiranjeevi remains a revered icon. His tremendous success has translated into a phenomenal estimated net worth of Rs 1650 crore. As an actor, producer, and philanthropist, his influence continues to shape Indian entertainment and inspire generations of stars to come.
