Renée Zellweger would return to her iconic role as Bridget Jones if given the chance
The 56-year-old actress first brought Bridget Jones to life in 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary, reprising the role in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2004 and Bridget Jones's Baby in 2016.
She has now told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I keep my fingers crossed that (author and Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding) might want to share some more of her own experiences through the world of Bridget.'
Bridget originally appeared in newspaper columns for London's Independent before blossoming into a bestselling novel series and then a film franchise.
Renée added about where the movie series is at: 'My understanding was that this was kind of it, but I keep my fingers crossed that she might want to share some more of her own experiences through the world of Bridget.'
Mad About the Boy expanded the Bridget Jones universe by introducing new characters, including Chiwetel Ejiofor's Scott Walliker, a teacher at Bridget's children's school, and Leo Woodall's Roxster McDuff, Bridget's younger love interest.
At the February New York City premiere for Mad About the Boy, Renée reflected on the supposed end of the franchise, telling People: 'We've been forging this friendship for over 25 years together through this journey, shared journey, Bridget Jones' journey.
'It was both wonderful and really sad.'
On whether the film marked Bridget's final appearance, she added: 'That's what I understand. That's what Colin (Firth) said.'
Helen, now a parent to teenage girls herself, explained the ongoing appeal of Bridget Jones to younger generations: 'There is a new audience for Bridget in amongst 15- to 25-year-olds, and it doesn't require neuroscience to connect that with the effect of social media.
'As a parent with a houseful of teenage girls, I know how reassuring it is to share the feelings around these things and to laugh together about the issues.'

Ariana - who made her Broadway as Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago in 2024 - told Extra: "I'm excited to see, I guess, how it works. "It's such a hard thing to do, I think, to put yourself out there … They have a tough road ahead of them … Anybody, I think, who's done that has lived that, and I think they'll be great. Charlize Theron hopes her children will eventually give her "props" for her "bada**" movie stunts. The Hollywood actress is mother to daughters Jackson, 12, and August, nine, and she's revealed her girls don't seem to be impressed by her film career but she hopes one day they will be able to look back at her work and feel proud. She told The Hollywood Reporter: "They're kids. They're doing exactly what they're supposed to do. I don't think anybody's kids really feel that way about their parents, no matter what they do. And they're teenagers now. "So, even if they were [impressed], they would never show it. But I want to believe that we'll actually sit down one day when they're old enough to have a glass of wine, and they'll say: 'You know what, Mom? It was pretty badass when you were 50 and you were hanging off that helicopter. We never gave you your props'." Charlize was referring to a stunt featured in her new Netflix film The Old Guard 2 in which she is seen hanging from the side of a helicopter in flight, and the actress admits it was a tough scene to film but it felt very safe. She added to the publication: "I haven't spent a lot of time on helicopters; I'm not crazy about them either. It just came out of the creative process and wanting to make that third-act set piece be as big as we all wanted it to be ... "Fred North, who's a legend in the business and does all the helicopter action work in every movie, then came on board. And I asked him ... 'How can we do it practically and safely so that it feels like you haven't seen this before in a movie?' "And he said to us: 'I don't know why, but I've never done this with an actor. [It] is actually incredibly safe if we do it the right way. It will look great, and you can do it all practically with a real helicopter.' "So he was really the one that threw this idea at us, and that's where it originated."

Bryce Dallas Howard has never seen Happy Days
Bryce Dallas Howard has "never watched an episode of Happy Days". The 44-year-old actress is the daughter of Ron Howard - the actor-turned-director who played Richie Cunningham in the hit TV sitcom between 1974 and 1980 - but Bryce admits that she's never watched a single episode of the show. In a new clip from Busy This Week - which has been shared with People - Bryce said: "I'm going to admit something, which is that I've never watched an episode of Happy Days." Busy Philipps, the host of Busy This Week, subsequently noted that Henry Winkler, who portrayed Arthur 'Fonzie' Fonzarelli on the sitcom, is also Bryce's godfather. The actress then replied: "I love him so much, and I love my dad so much, and I love all the Happy Days folks, and it would be so easy just to watch it, and I don't know why."
