Addressing investors, Yadav said, 'Development has meaning only when it remains connected with our roots, culture and heritage. We are moving in a mission mode from heritage to development.' He said that the Vindhya region, which includes Rewa, had always been a source of pride for the state and that obstacles to its development had now been removed. 'We will preserve heritage sites properly and restore Vindhyachal to its past glory,' Yadav said.
Inaugurating the two-day event, the CM said it underlines immense possibilities for tourism-driven development in the region, which would open new vistas for economic prosperity and employment, stated an official release in Hindi.
Rewa, Jul 26 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said that the first day of the regional tourism conclave in Rewa saw investors expressing interest in projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore in the Rewa and Shahdol divisions.
Yadav said major investors showed keen interest in projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore in the Rewa and Shahdol divisions on the first day of the conclave.
Describing the region as rich in natural beauty and cultural assets, the CM said the Vindhya region has the potential to become an ideal tourist destination, with its lush forests, sweet dialect, arts, cuisine and sense of belonging, according to the statement.
The chief minister said his government offers tourism the same benefits as the industrial sector under its investor-friendly tourism policy.
He said the state would provide subsidies of up to Rs 30 crore for tourist hotels, motels or resorts involving investment of Rs 100 crore, and up to Rs 40 crore for wellness centres of the same scale under health tourism.
For employment-linked ventures, the government would offer monthly assistance of Rs 5,000 for each employed male worker and Rs 6,000 for female workers for 10 years, he said.
Calling Madhya Pradesh the 'heart of the country', Yadav said Vindhyachal is a beloved part of the state. 'This land has given leadership to the nation. White tigers roam freely in its forests. The region is rich in minerals and iron ore. Rewa and Singrauli are the energy hubs of the country,' he said.
The CM said the construction of Rewa airport has made travel to the region easier and opened new growth opportunities. He also said that the government remains committed to developing tourism in the area. PTI LAL NR

India rejects criticism over its procurement of Russian crude oil; calls out US, EU

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a rare statement rebutting the criticism against New Delhi's energy ties with Moscow, hours after US President Donald Trump threatened more tariffs on India. Firmly rejecting the criticism, India pointed out the continuing trade relations the US and the European Union have with Russia. New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) India on Monday mounted a sharp counterattack on the US and the European Union for their 'unjustified and unreasonable' targeting of New Delhi for its procurement of Russian crude oil. India has been targeted by the United States and the EU for importing oil from Russia after the commencement of the Ukraine conflict, the MEA said. In fact, India began importing from Russia because traditional supplies were diverted to Europe after the outbreak of the conflict, it said. 'The US at that time actively encouraged such imports by India for strengthening global energy markets stability,' it added. The MEA said India's imports are meant to ensure predictable and affordable energy costs to the Indian consumer. 'They are a necessity compelled by global market situation. However, it is revealing that the very nations criticizing India are themselves indulging in trade with Russia,' it said. 'Unlike our case, such trade is not even a vital national compulsion,' it added. The MEA said the Europe-Russia trade includes not just energy, but also fertilizers, mining products, chemicals, iron and steel and machinery and transport equipment. 'Where the US is concerned, it continues to import from Russia uranium hexafluoride for its nuclear industry, palladium for its EV industry, fertilizers as well as chemicals,' it said. 'In this background, the targeting of India is unjustified and unreasonable. Like any major economy, India will take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and economic security,' the MEA said. IndusInd Bank appoints Rajiv Anand as MD & CEO for 3 years, effective Aug

IndusInd Bank on Monday announced that its board has appointed Rajiv Anand as the MD&CEO of the bank for a period of three years, effective from August 25, 2025, to August 24, 2028. Anand's appointment has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) but is subject to shareholder approval. Anand was one of three candidates recommended by the bank's board to the RBI for the position of MD&CEO. The RBI had given the board until June 30 to submit its list of candidates for the role. Reports had suggested that Anand, Anup Kumar Saha, and Rahul Shukla were the three names sent to the RBI for approval. Prior to this role, Anand was Deputy MD at Axis Bank, where he led the bank's wholesale banking business and was responsible for driving its digital agenda. He joined Axis Asset Management in 2009 as its founding MD&CEO. In subsequent roles, Anand was appointed president of retail banking at Axis Bank and later joined the board as head of Wholesale Banking. Anand holds a degree in Commerce and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Anand's appointment as MD&CEO follows the resignation of Sumant Kathpalia, the former MD&CEO of the bank, in April, who took moral responsibility for the accounting lapses at the bank. Additionally, former Deputy CEO Arun Khurana also stepped down in April over the same accounting lapses. In Q4FY25, the bank reported a loss of Rs 2,329 crore after ramping up provisions and reversing incorrectly booked revenue and income entries linked to accounting discrepancies in the derivatives and microfinance segments. The bank's Chief Financial Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer also resigned. After the CEO's resignation, IndusInd Bank formed an executive committee to oversee operations, which received a one-month extension last week. IndusInd Bank reported a 72% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) decline in net profit to Rs 604 crore in Q1FY26, due to higher provisions for retail loans and lower income from both core and non-core operations. Following the bank's earnings, IndusInd Bank's Chairman Sunil Mehta stated that the leadership transition is on track. Mehta added that the bank is actively identifying both internal and external candidates for senior management roles.
