Hibs' potential Europa League opponents whittled down
The draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland, this afternoon and will get underway at 12pm UK time.
Unseeded for the draw, it has become a bit clearer this morning who the Hibees could face in the second qualifying round as their potential opponents were whittled down.

In the Group 2 section of the draw, the seeded teams are Shakhtar Donetsk/Ilves, Midtjylland, Anderlecht and Sheriff Tiraspol/Prihstina.
There is clearly a lot of European pedigree between the majority of those sides. Shakhtar, often a Champions League side, would be favourites to beat their Finnish opponents and Sheriff would have that tag against the Kosovans. Midtjylland and Anderlecht would also provide testing opposition.
Hibs faced the Belgian giants in the 1992/93 UEFA Cup first round, losing on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
They have never faced any of their other potential opponents.

Rangers served warning as Panathinaikos star makes bold claim about Champions League scoreline
Filip Duricic is a believer Panathinaikos will turn their tie around and send Russell Martin out of the competition in Athens Filip Duricic is a believer Panathinaikos will turn their Champions League tie around and send Rangers out of the competition in Athens. Russell Martin' s side have planted one foot in the next round after a 2-0 home win at Ibrox against 10-man Pana, who were guilty of missing a string of chances. The return is at the Olympic Stadium next week and Serbian midfielder Duricic insists the tie is far from over. He said: "I believe in Athens we will turn the match around. But when a game ends and you've lost 2-0, you can't be satisfied. "We played well, we had many chances and if I or Facundo Pellistri had scored at 0-0, things would have been different. "Sometimes you have to take responsibility. We still have the rematch and there we'll have a chance to go through. "We are satisfied with how we played, but I cannot be satisfied with the fact that we missed the opportunities. We showed that we can create chances. "In Athens, in front of our own fans, I believe in victory." Rangers FC pre-season 2025/26 The 2025/26 season promises to be one filled with excitement, challenges, and opportunities for Russell Martin's team, with a full fixture list and key dates for the campaign this guide is all you need to kick off the new season! He said: "We dominated in the first half, but we failed to take the many chances we had. That's how football is. "Credit to Rangers for taking their chances. "We are very sad to leave here, but at least we still have a chance of avenging this defeat in Athens. "At home, we will have our fans behind us and with them with us, anything is possible."

Fans only just realising what Lionesses' Euro 2025 hero Michelle Agyemang's name means and say ‘that's just incredible'
Arsenal forward's name could hardly be more fitting SAVIOUR IS BORN Fans only just realising what Lionesses' Euro 2025 hero Michelle Agyemang's name means and say 'that's just incredible' MICHELLE AGYEMANG is the name on everyone's lips right now... and rightly so. The Arsenal forward, 19, has TWICE rescued the Lionesses from the brink of Euro 2025 heartbreak. 5 Michelle Agyemang was once again the Lionesses' saviour as she scored in the 96th minute vs Italy Credit: AP 5 Agyemang celebrated wildly with her team-mates following her last-gasp heroics Credit: Getty 5 Agyemang was also the hero when England left it late to beat Sweden on penalties Credit: Alamy After losing their group-stage opener to France, England battered the Netherlands and Wales to reach the knockouts and continue their quest to retain their title as European champions. But twice history-making Sarina Wiegman has been indebted to the Lionesses' newest hero... England's saviour: Michelle Agyemang. The Gunners star - at the club since the age of SIX - climbed off the bench with 20 minutes to play of the quarter-final, with her nation down and seemingly out, trailing 2-0 to Sweden. Lucy Bronze pulled one back and, within two minutes, Agyemang - a Wembley ball-girl as recently as 2021 - levelled the match as the Lionesses went on to win on penalties. READ MORE SPORT STORIES Gotta be kitting Fans baffled at bizarre kit quirk during Lionesses semi-final with Italy And in an enthralling semi-final against Italy, she netted an even more dramatic equaliser. Agyemang was in the perfect position to thump the ball into the back of the net as the clock ticked over into the 96TH-MINUTE of the match, with just one more minute of added time to be played. The Lionesses would go on to win and celebrate with a pizza party thanks to another Arsenal star, Chloe Kelly - as she poked home after her 119th-minute penalty was saved to reach the final. But Agyemang was the saviour. Quite literally. In fact, "Agyemang" in her family's native language, Akan, translates to "saviour of the nation". CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS How fitting. Fans went wild after learning the fun fact, with one taking to X to write: "The fact that Agyemang can mean 'saviour of the nation' in Ghanaian Akan is just incredible." I coached Chloe Kelly as a kid and have now spent £3,000 building my own pub to watch her at Euro 2025 Another said: "WAIT SO AGYEMANG WAS DESTINED TO DO THIS??? Having a last name that means "Saviour of the Nation" AND doing this is crazy." A third added: "How aptly named she is." And one posted: "She is literally living up to the meaning of her name." Match-winner Kelly later claimed: "She's unbelievable. She's got the world at her feet. A young player with a bright future and I'm absolutely buzzing for her." But Lionesses captain Leah Williamson perhaps summed it up best, saying: "She feels inevitable right now." England fans will certainly hope so ahead of the all-important final on Sunday evening. 5 Agyemang has been on the books of Arsenal since she was six years old Credit: Getty

Jose Mourinho points finger at Sir Jim Ratcliffe as he gives brutal Man Utd verdict
Manchester United suffered their worst ever Premier League campaign in 2024-25 as they finished 15 and former coach Jose Mourinho has pointed the finger of blame at chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has taken aim at Sir Jim Ratcliffe, claiming he "doesn't have much experience in football" and insisting "a lot needs to change" at Old Trafford. United are still reeling from a turbulent season that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League table, their worst campaign in top flight history, as Ruben Amorim was unable to steady the ship after Erik ten Hag was sacked last year. The Red Devils lost a total of 18 games and they were also beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in the Europa League final, missing out on a final chance to claim Champions League football. Mourinho has experience of managing United during a difficult period after he was sacked in 2018 after picking up just 26 points from 17 games in the 2018-19 season. The 'Special One' did win two major trophies at United and also finished second in 2017-18 and suggests Ratcliffe's lack of footballing experience might hinder the club - in a subtle jab at the billionaire and the United hierarchy. Speaking to Portuguese outlet Record, he said: "Today, I think that with the change in ownership at the club, with an owner who doesn't have much experience in football but rather in sport... "What happened to Ruben, from being the manager of the worst Manchester United in Premier League history to having continuity and confidence to continue and be Ruben Amorim, is a sign that a lot needs to change." However, Mourinho believes current boss Amorim has "incredible potential" to be a success at Old Trafford and urged the club to keep backing him - and to allow him to do his work as he sees fit. "With that stability... We all agree that he's a manager with great potential and personality. I think he has incredible potential to do great work." Mourinho is now at Turkish club Fenerbahce, where he is hoping to win his first major since joining them last summer as he approaches his second season. Since leaving United, Mourinho had an unsuccessful spell at Tottenham, where he was sacked just days before the 2021 Carabao Cup final against Manchester City. He later won the UEFA Conference League with Roma before also being sacked by the Italian side last year. Amorim will be hoping for a much better second season with United as he prepares for a pre-season tour of the United States - where they will play West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series. United have already made two high profile signings as they look to bounce back from their dreadful first campaign under Amorim after snapping up forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
