It's promising to be big! Umbro and designer Throup announce statement collab
A 14-year gap in an important collaboration requires a statement launch. Which is why Umbro 's regroup with designer Aitor Throup is being hailed by the UK sportswear brand as 'revolutionary'.
It isn't happening until next April but it will be 'cutting-edge' with their third association 'seek[ing] to challenge and disrupt conventional football training apparel through forward-thinking product innovation'.
Also expect the collection 'to rewrite the design rulebook not only in football, but the world of performance apparel as a category'.
Umbro first partnered with Throup on its 2009 England football home kit, when he first brought his 'signature progressive yet minimalist design aesthetic to the 'Beautiful Game'.'
Following the success of this collaboration, Umbro developed its partnership with Throup in 2011 through the launch of Archive Research Project, reimagining a capsule of iconic Umbro styles and defining a new football-specific language of apparel design.
The third chapter of Umbro and Aitor Throup will launch in time for SS26 in partnership with Italian sports and streetwear pioneer Slam Jam to spearhead international distribution. As they say, watch this space…

Piastri admitted he did his utmost to catch and pass Norris after passing Leclerc on the opening lap from third on the grid. "I probably pushed the limit a bit far, but it was a good race and that's what we were here to do – to race each other and try and fight for wins. That's what we did today. 'Not ideal' "It was close for me, but not quite enough. Thanks to the team. To have the kind of pace we did whilst battling each other, it was very impressive. I can't thank this team enough for the car we've got." Verstappen meanwhile is now 61 points adrift of Piastri in the drivers' title race amid mounting speculation about his future with Red Bull. "It was just unlucky, like yesterday in qualifying," said Verstappen. "But overall we did not have great pace here and we have a lot of learnings, and must find how to do better next weekend. "It is not an ideal result." It was the first time in 32 races that Verstappen had failed to finish in the points. 'We will keep trying to do our best, as always, and my mentality will never change. We have won a lot in the past and sometimes we have these times like this." He accepted Antonelli's apology instantly and with good grace. The 18-year-old Italian, hit with a three-grid penalty at Silverstone, said: "I didn't necessarily brake too late, it's just that when I braked hard behind other cars, I locked the rears. "I feel super sorry to the team and to Max, of course, because obviously he was just a passenger." Lawson was all smiles after achieving the best result of his career in sixth in Red Bull's sister team RB. "It has been a tough time for me, but we have worked hard and it has been rewarded today so I'm very happy," added Lawson, who was dumped by Red Bull after just two races this season.

Pogba signs for Monaco, hoping to revive career
The 2018 World Cup winner has made only 12 appearances across the last three seasons due to injuries, an 18-month doping ban and an extortion case in which he was the victim. Pogba failed a drugs test in August 2023 after a match for Juventus and has been free to return to football since March, although his contract at the Italian giants had been terminated last year. The midfielder will now play club football in Ligue 1 for the first time in his professional career. "I am determined to get back on the pitch, mentally ready, physically ready, it's just a matter of time," the 32-year-old told French television last weekend. Pogba played in the Le Havre youth team before signing for Manchester United in 2009. He made only a handful of first-team appearances for the three-time European champions before signing for Juventus in 2012. Pogba won four consecutive Serie A titles in Turin before rejoining United for a then-world record 105 million euros ($123 million). He moved back to Juventus three years ago but struggled with a series of injuries. In 2024, his brother Mathias was sentenced to three years in prison, with two years suspended, for his role in a plot to extort 13 million euros from Pogba in 2022. Coaching upheaval won't dent Sinner's Wimbledon title charge
Sinner has opted to move on from Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio, his trainer and physiotherapist respectively, as he looks for a new direction following his painful French Open final loss to Carlos Alcaraz. The pair had been employed by Sinner since September 2024, helping him retain the Australian Open crown in January and reach the Roland Garros showpiece in June. Asked if the decision might jeopardise his Wimbledon challenge over the next fortnight, Sinner was adamant it would be beneficial, with coaches Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill still on his staff. "I parted ways not long ago, but it's not affecting me. I feel ready to compete. I feel free. I feel me and my team, we are ready to do the best we can," Sinner told reporters at the All England Club on Saturday. "We've reached incredible results in the past with them, so obviously huge thanks to them. We made some great job, but I decided to do something different. "As I said, we made some great work. For me the final in Roland Garros was an amazing achievement. That's it." Sinner explained the split was amical. "Look, in this sport things can happen," he said. "Nothing crazy happened... sometimes a player feels something different, and that's my case. "I'm here to show that I can play some good tennis also on grass." Sinner has won three of the last six Grand Slams, but is still recovering from losing an epic French Open clash with Alcaraz.
