Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed inaugurates 6th IMMAF Youth World Championships
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, has inaugurated the 6th IMMAF Youth World Championships, being held for the first time in Al Ain Region from July 21-27, 2025.The event brings together more than 1,000 male and female athletes representing 60 countries worldwide.
His Excellency commended the young athletes for their impressive performances, and praised the championship's competitive spirit and energy, highlighting the crucial role of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation in developing and promoting combat sports locally and internationally.
His Excellency affirmed that staging the tournament in Al Ain Region this year further strengthens its reputation as a leading sporting destination, and contributes to its broader development, particularly within the sports sector.The event was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials, including Mohammed Bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Chairman of the MMA Committee; Kerrith Brown, President of IMMAF; Wissam Abi Nader, Vice President of IMMAF; Moza Khalifa Al Falasi, Acting Head of Regional Operations, Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK); and Saed Hijazi Salameh, General Manager Sales, Jaguar Land Rover at Premier Motors. Representatives of various international delegations and national teams were also present.
Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said: 'Hosting this edition in Al Ain marks a historic milestone for the championship, particularly with the record-breaking participation of athletes and nations. This achievement not only highlights the event's continued expansion but also reinforces the UAE's position as a global hub for elite combat sports competitions.'

The three-day event, running until August 3, is bringing more than a thousand athletes from over 60 countries to Al Ain Region for a highly anticipated showcase of elite grappling. This initiative is held in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP). In attendance on the opening day were Saeed Al Dhaheri, Destination Management Department Director at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of International Vision Sports Management; and H.E. Kenneth Milimo Nganga, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the UAE. Day one featured matches in the professional divisions through to the semi-final stage. Athletes delivered intense and high-level performances in front of an enthusiastic audience, with many grabbing their spots in the finals and a chance to earn 2,000 AJP ranking points along with lucrative cash prizes. The matches today have been extremely competitive, with a large number of participants, which pushes us to give even more to secure victory.' The Asian Cricket Council has officially announced the venues for the ACC Men's T20 Asia Cup 2025 which will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, 2025. The tournament will be played across the two world class venues of Dubai, which will host 11 matches, and Abu Dhabi, which will host 8 matches, bringing a total of 19 T20 Internationals to fans across the region. This year's Asia Cup will feature 8 teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. China and will be played in a T20 format. The tournament is poised to be a major highlight in the international cricket calendar in 2025. Details of the matches and their venues have been attached.
