Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed inaugurates 6th IMMAF Youth World Championships
21 July 2025 18:50 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, has inaugurated the 6th IMMAF Youth World Championships, being held for the first time in Al Ain Region from July 21-27, event brings together more than 1,000 male and female athletes representing 60 countries worldwide. His Excellency commended the young athletes for their impressive performances, and praised the championship's competitive spirit and energy, highlighting the crucial role of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation in developing and promoting combat sports locally and internationally. His Excellency affirmed that staging the tournament in Al Ain Region this year further strengthens its reputation as a leading sporting destination, and contributes to its broader development, particularly within the sports event was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials, including Mohammed Bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Chairman of the MMA Committee; Kerrith Brown, President of IMMAF; Wissam Abi Nader, Vice President of IMMAF; Moza Khalifa Al Falasi, Acting Head of Regional Operations, Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK); and Saed Hijazi Salameh, General Manager Sales, Jaguar Land Rover at Premier Motors. Representatives of various international delegations and national teams were also present. Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said: 'Hosting this edition in Al Ain marks a historic milestone for the championship, particularly with the record-breaking participation of athletes and nations. Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge launches 3rd ADEK Summer Program, expanding to more countries
18 July 2025 10:37 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge has launched the third edition of its Summer Program with 200 high-performing Emirati students from grades 10 and 11 across public, private, and Charter Schools in Abu ADEK Summer Program provides students with the opportunity to select pathways and programmes in top global universities from seven countries across four continents, empowering them to explore their passions and academic interests, develop a global mindset, expand their knowledge, and support their academic and personal Hamad Al Mheiri, ADEK Undersecretary, said: 'Following a successful programme last year, this expansion – in terms of the number of students, countries, universities involved, and the number of programs available – underlines our commitment to nurturing even more talented and aspiring students and empowering them to expand their knowledge beyond classroom boundaries.'ADEK Summer Program students are encouraged to pursue post-secondary studies internationally at top-tier universities and discover their passion, equipping them with future-ready skills for critical growth sectors in the emirate and globally."The 2025 edition features a total of 14 programmes including nine academic and five credit-bearing, aligned with key growth industries such as Medicine, AI, Neurobiology, Biotechnology, Cognitive Science, Visual Arts and Design, and Cinematography. Of these, seven are at top 20 universities, with 65 students joining programmes at pioneering institutions including Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cornell University, Columbia University, University of California, Berkeley, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Berklee College of Music. Participation also enhances students' competitiveness for future academic opportunities, including the prestigious Abu Dhabi Scholarships Program. In 2024, ADEK's Summer Program alumni earned admission to top 50 global universities and secured placements in new Creative and Elite Majors, underscoring the program's role in developing globally competitive, industry-aligned talent.

Central Bank of UAE revokes licence of Al Khazna Insurance Company
ABU DHABI - The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has revoked the licence of Al Khazna Insurance Company P.S.C (Al Khazna), pursuant to the Article 33 of Federal Decree Law No.48 of 2023 regulating Insurance Activities (the Insurance Law). This is due to Al Khazna's failure to meet the licencing requirements necessary to conduct insurance business during the period of suspension of its licence. The revocation results from the findings of examinations and follow-ups conducted by the CBUAE, which revealed that Al Khazna failed to comply with requirements set out in the Insurance Law and other regulatory requirements imposed by the CBUAE, during the period of suspension of its licence. The CBUAE, through its supervisory and regulatory mandates, works to ensure that all insurance companies and insurance-related professions abide by the UAE laws, regulations and standards adopted by the CBUAE to safeguard the transparency and integrity of the insurance sector and the UAE financial system.

5 July 2025 12:31 ABU DHABI (WAM)Under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak 'The Mother of the Nation', Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the official theme for Emirati Women's Day 2025 has been approved as 'Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years'.Marked annually on August 28, this year's occasion coincides with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the General Women's Union in 1975. The theme reflects a national celebration of community partnership and the continuous achievements of Emirati women across five directive aligns with the announcement by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, designating 2025 as the 'Year of Community' under the theme 'Hand in Hand'.It underscores the country's vision of strengthening national cohesion and reaffirming the essential role of Emirati women as partners in the nation's journey of development and year's theme carries profound national and social meaning, symbolising the participatory spirit that defines the UAE's approach to women's empowerment. The moment marked academic success, and the start of new opportunities and personal growth for the graduating graduating Class of 2025 were empowered with future-ready support - from life skills workshops and IELTS preparation to career planning and personalised university counselling. Students were guided every step of the way, building a foundation of confidence, adaptability, and lifelong learning. Students gained real-world exposure through enrichment partnerships with Tawazun, Al Jazira Club, Emirates NBD, Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, National Centre of Meteorology & Seismology, PureHealth, Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Department of Culture and Tourism, Hamda Al Fahim, PASS Abu Dhabi, Red Crescent, Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, Khalifa University, ERTH, and PwC.
