Magny-Cours Mission: Hakim Danish ready to face the challenge

The Sun02-07-2025
Malaysia's young rider, Hakim Danish, who has been based in Barcelona, Spain since May 2025, has been undergoing intensive preparations not only for the FIM JuniorGP but also for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
During this period, Danish also spent time training with Qabil Irfan, who was in Barcelona for Rounds 2 and 3 of the Espana Superbike Championship (ESBK), and later travelled to Motorland Aragon to show his support during Qabil's recent race in ESBK Round 3.
Danish currently sits fourth overall in the standings with 38 points, trailing by 37 points behind the championship leader, Brian Uriarte — a Spanish rider who is also Danish's main rival in the 2025 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
Two weeks ago, ahead of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup round in Mugello, Danish and his team carried out a private test at Magny-Cours to gather valuable data in preparation for this week's challenge.
'This week is race week for Round 3. Two weeks ago, I had the chance to test at this new circuit. I find the track quite technical, and I still need to improve my riding and find a better setup. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly this week.' said Danish

Danish comes back refreshed and ready at Sachsenring

AFTER FIM JuniorGP World Championship at the Magny-Cours Circuit in France where the race took place in wet conditions and Hakim Danish crashed out while running in 6th position, he now returns with renewed motivation and valuable experience gained from last week. 'Last weekend, I had just completed my JuniorGP race and I'm staying positive for this week. It's my first time racing at the Sachsenring Circuit, but I've prepared by studying videos and watching past races here. I hope to give my best and I appreciate your support and prayers as I take on this new circuit,' said Danish. Round 5 of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup takes place this weekend at Sachsenring, Germany. This short but technical track is famously known as The Sachsenring Rollercoaster due to its unique, undulating layout. Stretching 3.67 kilometres, the circuit features 3 right-hand corners and 10 left-handers, with the final uphill turn expected to provide an intense challenge and close racing this weekend. Danish remains at the top of the overall standings with 148 points, holding a 32-point lead over second-placed rider Brian Uriarte of Spain. SIC Racing Team Manager, Zulfahmi Khairuddin, is also on-site at Sachsenring to oversee all preparations, setup, and strategy to ensure a smooth race week.

Sibu's Clement Ting strikes gold for Malaysia at Asian Taolu Cup in China

WFM president Chong Kim Fatt gives the thumbs-up for Ting's golden feat. KUCHING (July 7): The Wushu Federation of Sarawak (WFS) has hailed the outstanding performance of national wushu exponent Clement Ting Su Wei who delivered Malaysia's sole gold medal at the inaugural Taolu Asian Cup held in Songyuan, Jilin, China from July 5-6. The 27-year-old Ting, who hails from Sibu, clinched the top spot in the men's gunshu event on the final day of the tournament, scoring 9.676 points to edge out teammate Danish Aizad Firdaus Chua (9.573) and the athlete from Hong Kong China (9.663). The historic gold marked a major breakthrough for Malaysia which finished fifth overall in the medal tally with one gold, seven silver and three bronze medals. China dominated the two-day competition with a powerful showing of 10 gold and one silver followed by Hong Kong China (4-4-1) and Singapore (2-1-2). 'We are absolutely delighted and proud of Clement's achievement on the Asian stage. He has not only brought glory to Sarawak but also made the nation proud,' said WFS deputy president James Ting when contacted by The Borneo Post. 'His dedication and perseverance are truly commendable, and we hope this gold medal will be the first of many more in his international journey, including the upcoming SEA Games.' James also highlighted Sarawak's consistent contribution to the national wushu scene, naming a string of former and current national athletes from the state such as Loh Jack Chang, Diana Bong, Pui Fook Chien, Audrey Chan, Thian Ai Ling, Choo Ee Wei, Kimberly Goh and Wee Jun Jie. Touching on broader issues in national sports development, James expressed concern over recent policy shifts in athlete recruitment under the National Sports Council (NSC). 'I sincerely hope the Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM) will always select athletes based on merit and performance, regardless of region,' he said. He also reiterated the call for the establishment of a second national wushu training base in Kuching to better accommodate and develop talents from East Malaysia. 'With the world-class Sarawak Wushu and Competition Centre in Petra Jaya, we already have the infrastructure to host and train elite national athletes. It would be a strategic move to fully utilise this facility,' he proposed. Clement Ting Su Wei lead Taolu Asian Cup
