Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has suspended BEd, BHEd and MEd admissions for the 2025-26 session after receiving grievances from several candidates regarding alleged discrepancies in entrance test scores for the two-year courses.
The State Selection Board (SSB) under the department conducted entrance tests for admission into BEd and BHEd courses on June 1 and for MEd on June 4. As many as 1,17,933 students appeared for the entrance exams to enrol into 2,750 BEd, BHEd and MEd seats offered by 31 educational institutes in the state.
According to an aggrieved candidate, marks of some students increased after re-evaluation of their answer papers.
There were discrepancies in the evaluation of entrance test papers, the student said. Many candidates wrote to the department to look into the matter.
After receiving several complaints, SSB was directed to constitute subject-wise expert committees to re-verify the answer keys. "Pending completion of this process, all admission activities for these courses are temporarily suspended," read the office order of the department issued on Thursday.

The department had on June 13 published entrance test results for admission into the BEd, BHEd and MEd courses for this academic session. "Each student who appeared for the entrance exam received a test score, which will function as his/her rank," said an official.
The department also issued a timeline and guidelines for admission into the courses. First-year classes for BEd, BHEd and MEd would start on July 24.
The latest order, which was published on Friday, stated that a revised admission schedule will be notified very soon. "The revised schedule will be notified on the SAMS portal and through advertisements. Students and institutions are advised to stay updated only through the official channels," read the department's order.
