R&B icon addresses longtime rumor he's not really blind: ‘You know the truth'
Stevie Wonder is hitting back at a prolonged rumor that the music legend can actually see. The 'Superstitious' singer addressed the rumor during his 'Love, Light and Song' U.K. tour stop in Cardiff, Wales. As seen in an Instagram video posted July 10, Wonder addressed the crowd in a light-hearted tone by saying, 'I must say to all of you, something that I was thinking, 'When did I want to let the world know this?' But I wanted to say it right now.' 'You know there have been rumors about me seeing and all that,' he said before a burst of laughter spread through the audience. After explaining how he started to go blind shortly after his birth, the 75-year-old shared how his lack of vision has enriched his life. 'That was a blessing because it's allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight,' Wonder said. 'See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?' The longtime rumor that Wonder isn't actually blind has been going on for decades, according to Variety. Lionel Richie joked that he was convinced the 'Fingertips' singer could see in a 2019 interview on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show.' 'I've been spending my whole life with him thinking he can see. I know he can see,' Richie said. 'I went to his house. He says, 'Wanna hear a new song? I've got it in the car. C'mon, go with me.'' Richie said Wonder sat in the driver's seat and started unexpectedly driving back down the driveway. 'And I screamed, 'Stevie! What are you doing?' And he said, 'Ah, got you, didn't I?,'' Richie recalled. ‘The Odyssey' IMAX 70mm Tickets To Go On Sale A Year Ahead In US/UK
While the tagline for the movie is 'Defy the Gods' it could equally be 'Defy the Online Queues' as ... More tickets are about to go on sale for 'The Odyssey'. The hype for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has officially begun. Not content with releasing a teaser trailer, which is currently running exclusively in cinemas ahead of Superman, Variety has revealed that The Odyssey tickets will go on sale on July 17th, 2025, a full year to the day ahead of its anticipated release date. This is the first time a studio has put tickets for sale this early in advance, but considering Nolan has a loyal army of fans large enough to sack a city, there certainly won't be any shortage of uptake. Many of these are enthusiasts for the IMAX 70mm format that Nolan champions, and the tickets will only be on sale for those venues. While early rumors revealed that AMC would be selling tickets at its IMAX 70mm-capable Lincoln Square theater in New York, the UK-based IMAX Vanguard group suggests that the BFI IMAX in London will offer tickets too. While the Manchester Printworks in the north of England has also teased the movie, it has not indicated it will be offering tickets for sale at the time. Traveling for IMAX There are only around 30 venues worldwide that still have IMAX film projectors, and for Oppenheimer, many fans were willing to board a plane to travel to a screen that would let them see the film in Nolan's preferred format. Considering that The Odyssey is the first feature film to be captured entirely on IMAX film cameras, it seems likely airlines will be doing even better business this time round. The Odyssey will depict the story of the ancient tale attributed to the ancient Greek poet Homer, which tells the tale of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon in the new film), returning home after the Trojan War. We have already had a glimpse of Tom Holland as Odysseus's son Telemachus in the trailer, speaking to an unknown character played by Jon Bernthal. The movie will also feature Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong'o as well as Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron. Emma Stone on Working With Joaquin Phoenix in ‘Eddington' and That Viral Bee Incident With Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler at Cannes
Emma Stone says she's glad she got to rehearse with Joaquin Phoenix before making 'Eddington.' But she's not always keen on rehearsal. More from Variety 'Bugonia' Trailer: Emma Stone Is Kidnapped by a Conspiracy Theorist Who Thinks She's an Alien in Yorgos Lanthimos' Next Film Bob the Drag Queen Launches Production Company Purse First Studios (EXCLUSIVE) Eric Dane's 'Countdown' Co-Stars Say He's Handling ALS Diagnosis With 'Grace and Dignity': 'He Wants Other People to Know They're Not Alone' 'We rehearsed. We went through everything,' Stone told me Thursday at the 'Eddington' premiere at the DGA in West Hollywood. 'Rehearsal is a little bit of mixed bag for me sometimes. Sometimes I really really enjoy it and sometimes I'm like, 'Oh God we're just doing it and it's going to ruin everything,' but this was one of the good ones.' Ari Aster's 'Eddington' stars Phoenix as the sheriff of a small New Mexico town during the COVID pandemic who surprises everyone when he announces – including his wife, played by Stone – that he's going to run for mayor against the incumbent (Pedro Pascal). Rounding out the cast are Luke Grimes, Austin Butler, Deidre O'Connell, Michael Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., Amélie Hoeferle, Matt Gomez Hidaka, Cameron Mann and William Belleau. Stone recalled her first day on set with Phoenix: 'It was cool. He was a cowboy. He was [Sheriff] Joe.' At the Cannes world premiere of the movie, a video of Pascal and Butler trying to shoo away a bee from Stone went viral. Just hours before the 'Eddington' premiere, Focus Features released the trailer for Stone's other upcoming movie, 'Bugonia,' directed by her frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos. It revolves around two conspiracy-obsessed friends (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) who kidnap a high-powered CEO (Stone) because they believe she's an alien intent on destroying Earth. The trailer opens with Plemons in a beekeeper's suit talking about bees and how they collect pollen for their queen. I asked Stone if the viral Cannes moment was secret promotion for 'Bugonia.' 'Wouldn't that have been an incredible idea,' she said, smiling. 'It's just Pedro trying to help me out carrying a bee around in his pocket and setting it loose and Austin just blows it seemingly into my face and it was like, 'Bugonia, coming soon!'' 'Eddington' is in theaters July 18. 'Bugonia' is set for a limited release on Oct. 24. followed by a wide expansion on Oct. 31. See more photos from the 'Eddington' premiere below.
