‘They Thought I Had…': Nimrat Kaur Lost Movies For This Reason
Nimrat Kaur opened up about losing several roles in the film industry, as people thought she had moved to a foreign country.
Nimrat Kaur is basking in the success of her latest web series, The Legacy of the Raisingghs: Kul. Released on Jiohotstar, the thriller-drama series also stars Ridhi Dogra and Amol Parashar in lead roles. Recently, the Dasvi actress opened up about losing work opportunities in the film industry, as people thought she had moved to a foreign country. The actress also revealed how people have misconceptions about her acting preferences.
During a recent interview with India Today, Nimrat claimed that many assumed she had permanently relocated to Los Angeles (US). The actress was asked if her acting choices have led people to think this was, she replied, 'I do take responsibility for that. I always thought they knew I was here, but many believed that I was in LA (Los Angeles), that I had moved there. I love working abroad, but living in a foreign country is unthinkable for me."
'They also felt that I wouldn't want to do certain kinds of films, and I always wondered where these assumptions came from. Fortunately, I have been able to do stuff that suits me, and I feel grateful and lucky nonetheless," she added.
Furthermore, she discussed the current state of the industry and how films are failing at the box office. The actress revealed, 'I see that there are so many capable and able actors around me who haven't been employed. But one needs to run the household, rents to pay, families have to be kept up, and bills need to be cleared. This is a profession at the end of the day. When things don't work, there is nervousness in the market, budgets are curtailed, and projects take longer to roll out."
Later, Nimrat also spoke about what kind of role she wants to explore in her career, to which she replied, 'I would really like to do something like that, or even a horror comedy. I would also like to do a romantic comedy, or a lot of what I have already done. I want to attempt action, and something in line with The Test Case, which is absolutely close to my heart."
Nimrat Kaur, known for movies such as The Lunchbox, Airlift, Dasvi and Sajni Shinde Ka Viral Video, is gearing up for an upcoming courtroom drama, Section 84, with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Banerjee.

Kangana Ranaut thinks you're a ‘moron' if you believe equality is a positive concept: ‘A woman isn't equal to a man, Ambani isn't equal to me'
Kangana Ranaut is accustomed to making headlines with her bold statements. This time, the actor shared her understanding of equality, acknowledging that it could lead to another controversy. In an interview with Times Now, she discussed her life as an MP, and her understanding of the social issues in the country. When asked about 'equality', Kangana said, 'You are making me talk about controversial things, but I think, since the world has started to believe that we are all equal, we have only produced a generation of morons.' To justify her statement, she pointed at the interviewer and said, 'You have so much more experience than me in this field. You are not equal to me when it comes to art. I am not equal to my mother. I am not equal to Ambani ji. He is not equal to me because I have four National Awards. Everybody is different. And we can learn from everybody.' She further explained, 'When I sit next to a labourer, I think this person has so much more tolerance than me. I am not equal to that person. A child is not equal to the woman, a woman is not equal to the man. A man is not equal to the elderly person in the family. We all have different roles and we are all different.' They don't even have admiration for their bosses who may have 25 year experience in the same field. And the result is a generation of idiots, who don't even want a promotion because they don't want more work.' Just a couple of days ago, Kangana spoke about her helplessness in providing aid for her disaster-hit district, Mandi. She told ANI, 'I do not have any funds for disaster relief or hold any cabinet post. MPs have work that was limited to Parliament. We are very small in the scheme of things. But, I can help to get disaster funds from the Centre.' This didn't go down well, however, she reasserted her stance in an interview with India Today, 'I told the reality to the people about what is in my hands and what is not. As an MP, we have to raise our concerns and bring funds. I have an ambit. I told the people that our party will fulfill all the people's needs.' Her statement on equality stands in contrast to what she said in 2018 when she participated in a Q&A session at the Indian pavilion at the Cannes film festival, conducted by Prasoon Joshi. ALSO READ | Ronit Roy opens up about daughter studying in University of Southern California, says son Agasthya is 'too bhola' for Bollywood Speaking about equality in film industry, the actress shared, 'Earlier discrimination between men and women was based on men being physically superior to women. Today, an actor and an actress do the same job. This has made people question, 'If they are working as equals, then why aren't they getting the status of equals?' This has brought about a certain shift in the perspective of audiences.' In a conversation with India Today, the actor had shared, 'I have been talking about these issues for a long time, but no one took notice. It is a hopeless place. I have put everything at stake–from my career to my choices. I have two cases on me. I started the MeToo movement, which didn't go anywhere. I fought for pay parity and rejected Khan, Kapoor, and Kumar films, but these women attacked me.' Kangana Ranaut will be soon seen in a psychological thriller with her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R Madhavan.
