Teddi Mellencamp reveals what saved her from home intruders in terrifying ordeal amid stage four cancer battle

Daily Mail19 hours ago
Teddi Mellencamp revealed that her state-of-the-art security system was able to repel the burglars who targeted her mansion amid her stage four cancer battle.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 44, was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022 and revealed in April that the cancer had advanced to stage four, having metastasized to her lungs and brain—a progression her doctors initially failed to detect.
Following the discovery of tumors in her brain and lungs, she began a series of intensive treatments, including surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy.
Amid her ongoing health battle, Mellencamp is also navigating personal upheaval, including a recent breakup and her divorce from estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, with whom she shares three children.
On Monday, two individuals attempted to enter the Encino, CA property she shares with Arroyave, according to TMZ.
The following day she issued a statement on her Insta Stories, confirming that no one was hurt in the attempted burglary and divulging how the robbers were stopped.
'We are grateful that everyone is unharmed. While we are shaken, we are fortunate to have the latest in home security systems which scared off the intruders,' she wrote.
'Authorities were alerted and swiftly responded. We appreciate everyone's heightened concern in light of recent criminal activities in our area, but we are safe.'
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that police responded to a burglary call and rushed to the scene.
By the time officers arrived, the suspects had already fled.
Authorities believe the individuals had just burglarized a neighboring home before attempting to break into Teddi's property.
In August 2020, Teddi bought the impressive 8,550-square-foot estate for $6.5 million.
Listed through Mauricio Umansky's The Agency, the home features seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a home theater, a basketball court, and numerous luxury amenities.
This residence sits farther from Beverly Hills compared to her previous Hollywood Hills property, which she purchased in 2018 for $4.07 million.
The attempted burglary follows Teddi's revelation in a conversation with former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Kyle Richards about why she never requested the scans that might have allowed doctors to detect the cancer's spread sooner.
'When you go to a doctor, you just assume that's it. I'm doing what I'm supposed to do,' she confessed in an interview with Kyle for Glamour.
'At first, I didn't even really do the research on melanoma because I didn't want to know all of the bad things. But there's a difference between self-diagnosing yourself and being an advocate for your own health,' she argued.
'I never really thought about it because I was like, I go to a doctor every three months. Why wouldn't they get me checked?' Teddi recalled.
Her advice for others is 'that you've got to plan ahead of time. You don't need to wait until you're sick to do things like life insurance. Have those hard conversations with your family, because you never know when it's going to come.'
She urged fans further to 'trust your gut instinct. There was a long time that I wasn't feeling well and didn't go to the doctor. I thought I had migraines, I thought I was going through menopause. I had self-diagnosed myself with 500 things.'
Her recent post follows news that Teddi ended her relationship with boyfriend Ricci Rea, recognizing that her current health challenges leave her without the energy to maintain a romantic relationship.
Last month, DailyMail.com exclusively spotted her sharing a close moment with a new boyfriend, which she later confirmed publicly.
Meanwhile, her estranged husband Edwin has remained a source of support during her health battle, though the couple has made it clear that their divorce proceedings are ongoing.

The Hunting Wives Season 1 Review – A proper guilty pleasure

Season 1 Episode Guide Episode 1 -| Review Score – 3/5 Episode 2 -| Review Score – 3.5/5 Episode 3 -| Review Score – 3.5/5 Episode 4 -| Review Score – 4/5 Episode 5 -| Review Score – 3.5/5 Episode 6 -| Review Score – 3.5/5 Episode 7 -| Review Score – 3.5/5 Episode 8 -| Review Score – 3.5/5 The Hunting Wives is the perfect definition of a guilty pleasure. It's an undeniably raunchy, trashy and outright sex-fuelled endeavour that feels designed to get eyeballs on it for the shock-value as much as the story itself. Beyond the first episode's very blatant titillation, when The Hunting Wives actually settles down and starts to showcase the story, there's an enticing and relatively interesting murder mystery at the heart of this that will keep you guessing right up until the shocking ending. Based on the novel sporting the same name, The Hunting Wives centers on newcomer Sophie O'Neil, who moves to the heart of East Texas with her husband Graham and their son Jack, determined to have a fresh start. Naturally, Sophie has some skeletons in her closet which threaten to come tumbling out as she becomes entangled within the charms of socialite Margo Banks. With her husband Jed looking set to jump into politics, and the small town still reeling after the disappearance of a girl six months back, Sophie finds herself on a collision course with chaos. From here, the show drinks a cocktail of obsession, seduction and murder. The story is given an injection of tension when a murder rocks the town, prompting police to launch an investigation into what may have happened. Adding more mystery to proceedings is a drunken night where Sophie wakes up with no knowledge of her whereabouts the night of the murder. The Hunting Wives leans into all the usual tropes of the genre, and it has a ton of suspicious characters with shady actions and motivations that will have you questioning who the killer is right up until the end. This show also doubles up as an erotic thriller and it's certainly not afraid to embrace this moniker with open arms. Expect everything from lesbian kissing to implied threesomes, all the way over to cheating and more. Honestly, The Hunting Wives does not hold back and while it isn't explicit in the way it showcases these sexual acts- at least outside of showing breasts or bare bottoms – it's also quite rare to see a show in 2025 be bold enough to go all-in in this way. Sophie is arguably one of the weaker personalities in this colourful ensemble, especially next to powerhouse Margo who does most of the heavy lifting in this series. The supporting characters around these two are an enticing bunch with their own subplots (mostly revolving around sex or sexual exploits). It's a bit of a car crash and its unashamedly bonkers, especially toward the last 2 or 3 episodes where The Hunting Wives decides to take the training wheels off and go completely bonkers with its story. These are some of the more crazy parts of the show but while entertaining, also display some pretty big plot contrivances and issues. None of this is helped by the cliffhanger ending, which baits for a second season. Honestly, it feels more like a desperate plea to the studios, especially as we actually get a definitive ending to the central mystery. Despite some of its more glaring flaws and some big plot contrivances toward the end, The Hunting Wives has an undeniably manic, sultry tone that'll keep you gripped until the final episodes. It's certainly not the best thriller of the year, nor is it going to win any awards, but it's a hell of a good time that isn't afraid to come out all guns blazing.

Trump ‘hung up after 30 seconds' on the phone with CNN reporter who called to ask about new Epstein photos

A reporter asked President Donald Trump about newly unveiled photos tying him to Jeffrey Epstein — but the call only lasted 30 seconds before the president reportedly hung up. Unearthed archived photos capturing Jeffrey Epstein attending Trump's 1993 wedding to Marla Maples at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, published by CNN, reveal fresh insights into their relationship as the president tries to distance himself from the late financier's case. When CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski called Trump to ask about the photos, the president gave an abrupt response: 'You've got to be kidding me.' He then repeatedly called the network 'fake news' and, after 30 seconds, hung up, the outlet reported. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung told CNN in a statement: 'These are nothing more than out-of-context frame grabs of innocuous videos and pictures of widely attended events to disgustingly infer something nefarious.' 'The fact is that the president kicked him out of his club for being a creep. This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media,' Cheung added. CNN also uncovered footage from a 1999 Victoria's Secret fashion event of Trump and Epstein chitchatting. Other photos widely available also show the two men together at the runway show, the outlet noted. Trump's 30-second phone call comes days after the president sued the Wall Street Journal for a report claiming that he allegedly gave Epstein a 'bawdy' birthday card for his 50th birthday. The card contained sexually suggestive drawing and a reference to 'secrets' both men shared, the publication alleged. Trump has vehemently denied the claims and sued the WSJ and its owners for $10 billion for defamation. The recent reports linking Trump to Epstein come as the White House attempts to quell the uproar over the so-called Epstein files. His MAGA supporters erupted after the Justice Department released a July 6 memo stating no further disclosures were necessary after the "exhaustive" review the department conducted. The memo led to demands for increased transparency from both MAGA world and Congressional Republicans after Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed there was a trove of documents to be reviewed in the case. Just months earlier, she said was examining a 'truckload' of evidence the FBI had provided on the case, noting the 'client list' of high-profile associates linked to the sex offender's trafficking scheme was sitting on her desk. Her office in February released 'Phase 1' of the Epstein files — roughly 100 pages of documents, most of which were already publicly available. A mix of outrage and disappointment bubbled up among right-wing influencers. Still, many anticipated more information about the convicted sex offender was coming. Then, the July 6 memo deflated any lingering hope. It stated there was no evidence that a 'client list' existed and that Epstein had died by suicide in his New York City jail cell in 2019. Amid internal Trump administration clashes and an uproar online, the president requested Bondi to release the grand jury transcripts in the cases of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the financier's former girlfriend who was sentenced to 20 years behind bars following her 2021 conviction for her role in a scheme to abuse girls with Epstein. Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche filed motions to unseal the grand jury transcripts — a move that experts say amounts to only a fraction of the Epstein files. The judges overseeing the cases have now asked for more information, including statements from Maxwell and the victims about the disclosures, before proceeding. The Trump administration will meet with Maxwell in the 'coming days,' Blanche announced Tuesday. 'If Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say,' the deputy AG said. Not long after Blanche's announcement Tuesday, the House Oversight Committee approved a subpoena for Maxwell. Trump said the subpoena" sounds appropriate" during questions from reporters at the White House.

Fleetwood Mac stars make album announcement after days of fan speculation

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have confirmed the re-release of their 1973 album, Buckingham Nicks. The album, their only collaborative studio effort, is now available for pre-order and will be released on 19 September. Speculation about the re-release was ignited by matching cryptic social media posts from the duo and a promotional billboard appearing in Los Angeles. Their social media messages formed a lyric from 'Frozen Love', a song featured on the Buckingham Nicks album, with Mick Fleetwood also referencing the track. The re-release occurs amid ongoing fan hopes for a Fleetwood Mac reunion, despite Nicks previously stating the band cannot continue without Christine McVie, who died in 2022.
