Aaron Rai lies third at Wyndham, Bhatia and Theegala trail far back
Rai was Tied third in his bid to become the first player to successfully defend the title at the Wyndham Championship since Sam Snead in 1956.
Joel Dahmen led the field with a 61 and Alex Noren (62) was second.
Rai shared the third place with Colombian Nico Echavarria, Americans Cameron Young and Mark Hubbard.
Indo-British Rai had eight birdies against one bogey.
Indian American Akshay Bhatia, who is also assured of the first play-offs start, carded 2-under 68 and is Tied-64, while Sahith Theegala, who has been injured for a good part of the season, had a disappointing 2-over 72 and was T-131.
Theegala will find it tough to make the cut. He needs to win this season to make the play-offs.
Bhatia had four birdies against two bogeys, while Theegala had three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
Rai, who started from the tenth and bogeyed the 14th, but made no mistakes after that, birdied the 15th, 17th and the 18th to make the turn at 2-under.
On his second nine, Rai birdied five times, including two sets of back-to-back birdies on the second and third and then again at seventh and eighth. In between, he had another gain on the fifth.
Last year Aaron made the Tour Championship and made cut in all four Majors this year.
Rai was 58th in the FedExCup standings before the start. Even though he is already in for the first Play-offs event, he is hoping to get closer to Top-50.
The top 50 after the first FedExCup Playoffs event not only advance to the next week, but they are guaranteed to get in all the USD 20 million Signature Events.
This season Rai had eight Top-25 finishes in 19 starts with a T4 at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld being his lone top-10.
Following the Wyndham Championship, the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings will qualify for next week's FedEx St. Jude Championship.
After the St. Jude Championship, the top 50 players will play the BMW Championship and then only the Top-30 will get to the Tour Championship. PTI ATK ATK

London, Aug 2 (PTI) Yashasvi Jaiswal wanted to be more consistent on his first tour of England but drew immense satisfaction from his second-innings ton on a 'spicy" pitch at The Oval to help set a massive 374-run target in the fifth Test. Jaiswal ended the series with 411 runs at an average of 41.10 including two centuries and as many fifties. In the initial phase, he was peppered with plenty of short balls into the rib cage, before Jaiswal had his fair share of struggle against Jofra Archer at Lord's. The Indian opener's returns in 10 innings — scores of 101, 4, 87, 28, 13, 0, 58, 0, 2, 118 — suggest he was not among the most consistent batters but Jaiswal did leave a lasting impact after a decent run in Australia. 'I think I wanted to do more. I wanted to make my innings bigger than that. So, I could have achieved something else. But it's okay," he told the media on Saturday. 'I was trying very hard for that and I was enjoying it. Whenever I go out there, I think, as long as I can bat, I enjoy batting as well," added Jaiswal, who rode his luck to complete his sixth Test hundred on Saturday. Jaiswal also got a word of advice from his former captain Rohit Sharma, who was watching the game from the stands at The Oval. 'He told me to hang in there and bat long," said the southpaw. Talking more about his learnings from the series, Jaiswal said: 'It's all about how I fight. Always, the mentality is to go out there and fight it out and enjoy." STAT: Ravindra Jadeja breaks a Sir Garfield Sobers record with his remarkably consistent batting show in the series
Any cricket buff would know that Sir Garfield Sobers is considered the gold standard for all-round greatness in cricket, and on Saturday at The Oval, India's Ravindra Jadeja – nicknamed 'Sir' too – broke one of the former West Indies legend's records that has stood since 1966. During Day 3 of the fifth Test between England and India, Jadeja scored his sixth 50+ score of the series. Jadeja's series tally of 516 runs is the second most by an away batter in a series played in England batting at No 6 or lower, behind only the great Sobers' 722 in 1966. But Jadeja has hit more 50+ scores (6) than Sobers in that series (5), which is a new record in England. Jadeja is also only the visiting player after Sobers to score 1,000+ runs and take 30+ wickets in Tests played in England. Jadeja's 516 runs have come at an average of 86 and he joined Shubman Gill (754) and KL Rahul (532) as the only three batters to go past the 500-run tally in the series. Of course, that could still change if the likes of Ben Duckett, Joe Root or Jamie Smith go big for England in the second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal's 118 and half-centuries from Akash Deep (66), Jadeja (53) and Washington Sundar (53) helped India set a stiff 374-run target against England, on the third day of the fifth Test here on Saturday. Resuming at 75 for two, India were bolstered by a second ton of the series for Jaiswal who made 118 off 164 balls with 14 fours and two sixes, while Akash Deep smacked his maiden half-century to end with 66 off 94 balls with 12 fours. One of the most consistent performers of the series, Jadeja then propped up the score with another vital fifty as he made 53 off 77 balls with five fours. This was his fifth half century of the series apart from a hundred scored in previous Test. Towards the end, Washington smacked four sixes and four fours to make a quickfire 53 off 46 balls, putting on 39 runs for the last wicket with Prasidh Krishna, to take India's lead beyond the 350-run mark. For England, who lead the series 2-1, Josh Tongue took five for 125. 46: Shubman Gill fell short of the magical 800-run tally in the series, as he managed a total of just 32 runs at The Oval, to finish the tour with 754 runs. It's the 19th most in the history of Test cricket and the second best by an Indian behind Gavaskar's 774 in the West Indies. 263/9: The highest successful run-chase at the iconic Oval came back in August 1902 in a 1-wicket win for England. Only thrice has a team crossed 370 in a fourth innings at the venue. 6: Akash Deep became only the 6th Indian player to achieve the double of a 50+ score and a 10-wicket haul within the first 10 matches of their career.
