Chicken Curry Smells To Pet Poop DNA Tests: Reddit Discussion Reveals Life In Bengaluru Apartments
Bengaluru residents have started taking to Reddit to share some of the most unusual WhatsApp group disputes they've had with their Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs).
In several housing societies, tensions have erupted on WhatsApp groups over issues ranging from complaints about food aromas to demands for forensic testing of pet waste.
One Reddit user from a Whitefield community described how a pet-related complaint escalated beyond expectations. 'Someone actually suggested a forensic test to trace a dog's poop because the pet owner refused to admit guilt. It became a full‑blown investigation!" the user wrote.
Several posts referenced complaints about cooking smells, including one instance where a resident objected to the aroma of chicken curry.
According to the post, the complainant said the smell was 'offensive" to vegetarians, leading to heated arguments in the group.
Another user reported that pet-related issues are often met with quick action on community messaging groups. 'Photos of the 'evidence' would be circulated on WhatsApp, along with demands to identify the pet and its owner," the post said.
In one instance, a pet owner denied the allegation and called for DNA testing, insisting it was not animal waste and that the area had CCTV coverage.
In another case, a parent claimed their child had been attacked by a stray dog. Some residents reportedly demanded video evidence before taking any steps. 'I felt like becoming an activist just to see how far this madness can go," one user commented.
A newly elected RWA president shared his experience dealing with such issues. He said the group had to shut down their WhatsApp chat due to toxic conversations. 'Our WhatsApp group became so toxic that we had to shut it down. Now it's strictly for announcements," he wrote.
He added that residents frequently misused the group, with some even holding personal conversations there.
'People will call during work hours asking for plumbers instead of logging a ticket. People are petty and inconsiderate, the majority of the time. Some people used to use the RWA WhatsApp chat group as their personal chats, and a couple used to have their flat conversations on that until some other owner called it out."
The Reddit thread has drawn attention to the everyday challenges of apartment living in Bengaluru, where disputes can escalate quickly and digital platforms often become the first venue for confrontation.

Stayed at home for six wks after picnic trauma
1 2 3 4 In 2023, the year I had joined college, we had gone on a picnic to Budge Budge. The seniors had organised the outing for juniors. I was new to the city and I was all excited about the picnic. While travelling by train to Budge Budge, I was introduced to Monojit Mishra. On reaching the spot, a bagaan baari, we found that two AC rooms on the first floor of the house had been kept for us, one for the girls and the other, for boys. From the time we reached, Monojit started drinking and some of the boys joined him around noon. They were all sitting downstairs in a big hall. I remember, it was around 5.45 pm that my father had called. I went to the boys' room to talk to him as the room was empty at that time. That room had an attached verandah, and I went out there to talk. Suddenly, I turned around to see Monojit striding up to me. He grabbed my hair, dragged me inside and pounced on me. I kept begging him to let me go but he snatched away my phone. He pinned me down and held my hands so tightly that I was not in a position to move. He took that chance and tore my innerwear's strap. I froze and started crying. He called me 'hot' and bit me so hard that blood started dripping from my earlobes. The bite marks on my neck remained for at least a couple of months. My ear was still bleeding, but I covered it with my hair. Just then, he again came up to me and groped me from behind, but I managed to escape. The torment continued till 6.30 pm. My batchmates and seniors sensed my discomfort, and after I confided in them, they asked me to lodge a complaint. I decided to lodge a complaint with the college authorities and police the very next day. But Monojit's gang called me to the union room and told me, "Dada has a lot of power. Accused of killing live-in partner faced domestic violence charge by wife
Bhopal: Sachin Rajput, accused of killing his live-in partner, a 29-year-old woman, over a dispute related to her conversations with her boss, was placed in custody. During police interrogation, Sachin broke down and claimed that the incident was an accident rather than a premeditated act. Police reported that Sachin allegedly discovered some WhatsApp chats, leading to a confrontation. When he questioned her, the deceased reportedly began arguing. The situation escalated into a physical altercation during which Sachin grabbed her neck. He claimed she fell unconscious shortly after and collapsed on the bed when he released her. At that moment, Sachin received a call from his friend regarding an urgent matter. Believing the woman had only fainted, he sprinkled water on her but received no response. Assuming she would regain consciousness soon, he left for his friend's place, where he spent the night. When Sachin returned the next morning, the woman remained in the same position on the bed, and the door was exactly as he had left it. Realising the gravity of the situation, he panicked, wrapped her body in plastic sacks and blankets, and left the house. He then spent the following day wandering and contemplating his next steps. On Sunday, after confiding in a friend named Anuj, he decided to surrender to the police. Police stated that Sachin hailed from a well-off family in Sironj and previously operated an e-vehicle showroom in Bhopal. The deceased worked there as a receptionist, and the two began a relationship in 2022. Shockingly, Sachin had already married another woman in 2023 in a love marriage. His wife later filed a domestic violence complaint against him, leading to strained relations. The couple eventually filed for divorce, and the case remains pending in court. After experiencing a loss in his business, Sachin started a new job. He also discussed marriage plans with the deceased's parents, and the couple began living together. The woman was employed as a saleswoman at an agri-products company in Bhanpur. The murder reportedly resulted from an argument about her conversations with her employer. Bajaria police produced Sachin in court on Tuesday and secured a one-day police remand for further questioning.
