On the sidelines of Arabian Travel Market 2025 Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi unveils logo and mascot of Asian Bodybuilding Championship
The unveiling ceremony was held during a visit by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department, to Ajman's pavillion. He unveiled the championship's official logo and mascot, 'Mayed'. He also conducted a comprehensive tour of the pavillion, encompassing various sections, such as the newly added 'museums' section, which aims to showcase the Emirate's rich historical and cultural identity as well as its deep-rooted civilisational diversity.
Additionally, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi toured the Al Manama Museum's prototype section, which serves as a unique insightful window into the history and rich legacy of the region, while highlighting the cultural heritage that has shaped the local identity over generations. Sheikh Al Nuaimi also visited the strategic partners present at the department's pavilion and reviewed their contributions to supporting tourism and promoting the Emirate.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department of Tourism Development, said: 'It is a great honour to unveil the official logo and mascot of the Asian Bodybuilding Championship, which will be hosted by the Emirate of Ajman in June. Moreover, this is a testament to our dedication to promoting sports and sports tourism as a vital component of sustainable development. Following the resounding success of its first edition, the Ajman Department of Tourism Development ADTD launched the second edition of its 'Self-Exploration through Tourism' summer training programme. The programme is a part of the Department's ongoing efforts to empower Emirati youth and enhance their future contribution to the development of vital sectors in the Emirate, most notably the tourism sector. The programme, which runs until July 31, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM daily, targets Emirati students currently pursuing their university studies at an academic institution within the country. The programme offers students professional, hands-on experience in a realistic work environment, to strengthen their applied knowledge, refine their communication and interpersonal skills, and provide important workplace insights for identifying potential career paths post-graduation. It also seeks to ensure their alignment with labour market demands and societal needs by equipping participants with the skills needed to navigate modern tools and systems, while fostering positive values such as punctuality, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. Global Central Banks Add 20 Tonnes to Gold Reserves in May
Waleed Farouk Global official gold reserves saw a net increase of 20 tonnes in May, according to the latest data from the World Gold Council (WGC). While this marks a modest rise compared to April, it remains below the 12-month average monthly purchase of 27 tonnes. Kazakhstan Leads Central Bank Gold Purchases The National Bank of Kazakhstan topped the list of buyers in May, adding 7 tonnes of gold to its reserves, bringing its total holdings to 299 tonnes—an increase of 15 tonnes since the beginning of the year. The Turkish central bank and Poland's national bank also recorded net purchases of 6 tonnes each. Poland has now bought a total of 67 tonnes in 2025, making it the largest net buyer of gold among central banks so far this year. Other notable buyers in May include: The People's Bank of China and the Czech National Bank, each adding 2 tonnes. The central banks of Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Ghana, each adding 1 tonne. Singapore and Uzbekistan Lead Gold Sales On the other hand, the Monetary Authority of Singapore was the largest seller in May, reducing its gold reserves by 5 tonnes. It was followed by Uzbekistan and Germany's Bundesbank, both selling 1 tonne. On a year-to-date basis, Uzbekistan remains the largest net seller with 27 tonnes sold, followed by Singapore with 10 tonnes. 2025 Survey: Central Banks Increasingly Bullish on Gold The World Gold Council's 2025 Central Bank Gold Reserves Survey revealed a significant shift in sentiment among central banks: 95% of respondents expect global official gold reserves to rise over the next 12 months, up from 81% in last year's survey. 43% plan to increase their own gold reserves—the highest level ever recorded, compared to 29% in 2024. A record 73 central banks participated in the survey, highlighting growing interest in managing gold as a strategic reserve asset. 76% expect gold to account for a larger share of their reserves in the next five years. 73% anticipate a decline in the U.S. dollar's share of reserves.
