High winds prompt Orange Flag Warning in Teller County
According to the sheriff's office, the warning was enacted due to high winds out of the west at '10 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.' According to the National Weather Service (NWS), west winds will increase later in the afternoon.
NWS also issues a hazardous weather outlook for some areas in Colorado, including Teller County, for critical fire weather conditions on Tuesday afternoon.
Under an Orange Flag Warning, no burn permit activations and any burning of any kind are recommended due to weather conditions.

The second culprit is a stubborn high-pressure cell planted over the Midwest which is holding the smoke in place and compressing it close to the ground," said a notice from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, which the NWS published. "The weak clockwise winds will recirculate the worst of the smoke westward then northward, back into the western U.P., but the entire state will remain under hazy conditions during Tuesday," it continued. Northeast Minnesota and eastern Pennsylvania were also affected by wildfire smoke, according to alerts for the regions. Particle pollution—a product of wildfires—was also the cause of air quality alerts in Indiana, Vermont, New Hampshire and Colorado. This included the 72,460-acre Gifford fire affecting parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, as well as the Rosa fire near the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Gold fire in the San Bernadino National Forest, north of Big Bear Lake. Heat advisory issued for upcoming triple digit heat in Southern California
A significant warm-up is coming to the Inland Empire and parts of San Bernardino and Riverside County valleys. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory ahead of the upcoming weather. The advisory will go into effect at 10 a.m. Wednesday and remain until 8 p.m. Friday. Forecasters predict Thursday will be the hottest day of the week, with most areas of Southern California experiencing temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above normal. The NWS says areas like the San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley and Calabasas will have temperatures 10 to 12 degrees above normal. Maximum temperatures in the valleys could reach up to 106 degrees. As temperatures rise, so will the risk of fire danger. The NWS says there will be "abnormally elevated fire behavior and growth with risk of plume dominated fires." Weather officials are warning communities that the high temperatures may cause heat-related illness.

Update (Wednesday, July 30th): Modest waves hit Hawaii and California yesterday and in the early hours of the morning, as a result of the earthquake off Russia. Evacuation orders have been lifted in Hawaii; in Southern California, the tsunami advisory has been lifted. See below for some of the wave action documented in Hawaii and California. On Tuesday, at 4:25pm PDT, an earthquake struck 80 miles off the Kamchatka Peninsula. The magnitude 8.7 quake, which reportedly struck at a depth of 46 miles off Russia, prompted tsunami warnings for Japan, Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, and the entire west coast. NOAA documented the quake, and issued the resulting tsunami warnings. According to an alert from the National Weather Service regarding Hawaii: A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE ALONG COASTLINES OF ALL ISLANDS IN THE STATE OF HAWAII.
