Speaking about the tough defeat, White said Atlanta's physical play disrupted Indiana's performance in the second half, and she also cited WNBA Player of the Month Allisha Gray as one of the other reasons.
"Allisha Gray had a great game. One of the Olympians we were talking about. She's had a great season too," She said.
"She's one of my favorite players in this league. I just think that she's incredibly talented. She's gotten better every year. She continues to just allow the game to come to her." White continued.

Gray put up 23 points on Tuesday, playing 33 minutes. She made one three-pointer and found the bottom of the net on four of her six free throws. White was left impressed by her playstyle.

"She's aggressive to the rim. Her three-point shooting is really good. Great scores get to the free-throw line. She does that. She uses her size well. She plays off of her teammates really well. She's just a tough matchup." White added.
Gray averages 20.4 points per game this season, with 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists. She adapted well to Karl Smesko's machinery and has been a pivotal figure in recent games.
Indiana missed two of their stars due to injury against Atlanta. Caitlin Clark, who is recovering from a left quad strain, and Sophie Cunningham, who is sidelined with a right ankle injury.

White announced that Clark could be back for the next game against the New York Liberty.

Stephanie White Makes Indiana Fever Admission Without Caitlin Clark
Stephanie White Makes Indiana Fever Admission Without Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever are having their best stretch of the 2025 WNBA season with their longest winning streak of three games. And they have done it without point guard Caitlin Clark. Advertisement On Saturday, White and the Fever will look for their 10th win this season, hosting Dearica Hamby and the Los Angeles Sparks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Fever lost Clark to a groin injury during their June 24 win over the Seattle Storm. After dropping their next game, ironically against the Sparks, Indiana bounced back with a win over the Dallas Wings. Then they went on to capture the Commissioner's Cup championship by defeating the league-leading Minnesota Lynx. Finally, on Thursday, they dominated the Las Vegas Aces by 27. And White seems to like what she has seen from her team without their All-Star captain. Advertisement Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White propels the team to a three-game winning Johnson-Imagn Images Ahead of Saturday's game, White joined the media for a press conference. When asked about finding a team identity over the recent winning surge, White had a lot to say. 'We found a little bit more of an identity defensively," White said. "With this group, I think, you know, again, it goes back to our activity level. Our ability to be active, aware, and anticipate actions that are coming. Our execution. Being connected, and I think we are. I think we're continuing offensively to move the ball a little bit better to find our spots individually, and I think that that's helped us." White finished by saying she doesn't know the final product of her team with Clark still out. Advertisement "I don't know that we're where we're going to be because Caitlin hasn't been on the floor," White added. "That's obviously a huge piece for us in what we do. I'm proud of this group and the way that they've been able to find that connectivity on both ends and really set the tone on the defensive end.' Following the Sparks game, the Fever will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting the Golden State Valkyries. Padres Make Xander Bogaerts Decision Before Rangers Game
Padres Make Xander Bogaerts Decision Before Rangers Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts is in his thirteenth major-league season and third with the San Diego Padres. He previously spent ten seasons with the Boston Red Sox, making his debut at age 20 in 2013. Advertisement During his decade in Boston, Bogaerts won World Series titles in 2013 and 2018 and earned four All-Star selections, emerging as one of the game's brightest young stars. After posting an .830-plus OPS for a fifth consecutive year and demonstrating remarkable durability in Boston, he signed a massive 11-year, $280 million contract with San Diego before the 2023 season. The long-term deal underscored the Padres' belief in his ability to deliver both elite offense and postseason experience. However, his production has dipped in San Diego—with OPS numbers below .700 in both 2024 and 2025. San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts (2)Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images During Friday's series opener against the Texas Rangers, Bogaerts exited the game in the bottom of the tenth inning with the bases loaded after grabbing his right hamstring on a swing. Advertisement Today, the Padres made the decision to place him back in the lineup batting fifth and starting at shortstop. This marks the second time in a week he's left a game with a cramp, after exiting last Sunday's series finale against the Cincinnati Reds for the same reason. In 85 games this season, Bogaerts is batting .255 with a .694 OPS and just five home runs, signaling a significant decline in his power. Entering Saturday, San Diego sits 47–40—just a game ahead of the San Francisco Giants in the wild-card race—so Bogaerts's availability and any uptick in performance will be pivotal to the Padres' push for October baseball.
