Andie Chen admits 'traces of loss and loneliness' after 10th acting Star Awards defeat , Entertainment News
At the 30th edition of Star Awards held last night (July 6), the 39-year-old was one of five nominees for Best Actor, for his role in the Mediacorp drama Born to Shine.
However, he lost to Christopher Lee, who won for his performance in the crime series Kill Sera Sera. The 53-year-old also brought home two other awards - Best Programme Host and the Special Achievement Award.
Earlier today, Andie took to Instagram to reflect: "The ceremony ended and the music started. I sat in the audience, watching the liveliness on stage - no matter how strong the heart is, traces of loss and loneliness will still flow out in that moment.
"But I didn't lose heart. Because all these years, I've had my family, team, friends and all of you who have supported me. Every time you speak up for me, it motivates me to keep working hard. Thank you everyone.
"Setting aside my own little theatre, I really am happy to see my friends win awards. Who's not working hard for their dreams?
"Finally, to my super handsome and capable idol Christopher Lee, I'm fully convinced losing to you. Thank you for letting me see my goal. I believe that one day, I will stand beside you and we'll create amazing stories together."

In live footage captured during the awards ceremony, moments after veteran Hong Kong star Chow Yun Fat announced Christopher's win, the camera panned to Andie in the audience. He was comforted by local actress Ya Hui, who clutched his shoulder and spoke to him, to which he responded with a nod and smile while clapping for the winner.
The two belong to the 2007 batch of Star Search, where Andie was crowned champion and Ya Hui a runner-up.
Others also consoled Andie, with veteran actor Chen Hanwei dedicating an Instagram post to him today.
In a picture where the two walked together backstage in their red-carpet outfits, the 55-year-old wrote: "It's not that you're bad, you're very good. Just down on a little bit of luck, Andie.
"Don't be discouraged, keep up your attitude and positive energy, because your attitude is your best feng shui. Keep working hard, and one day there'll definitely be a piece of the sky for you. Believe in yourself.
"Of course, I still have to congratulate Christopher Lee, it was well-deserved." View this post on Instagram

In a video posted by 8days, Christopher and Andie were seen interacting post-show. Andie was posing for the camera when he was spotted by the award- winner, who came over for a hug.
Andie joked: "You not paiseh to come here?" before laughing and returning the embrace. Thereafter, Christopher said: "You'll surely get it next time, okay?"

Divorced actress Lee Si-young confirms pregnancy through IVF
Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox South Korean actress Lee Si-young is pregnant with her second child, several months after her divorce. The 43-year-old had confirmed in March that she and her then husband , restaurant entrepreneur Cho Seong-hyun, had split after submitting divorce documents to the Seoul Family Court earlier in 2025. The actress married Mr Cho, who is nine years her senior, in September 2017. She gave birth to their son in January 2018. Lee took to Instagram on July 8 to deliver the surprise announcement of her latest pregnancy. 'Eight years ago, when I had Jung-yoon, who is now the most important person in my life, I was not married and was filming a TV drama,' she wrote in Korean. 'I was younger at that time and had many shortcomings.' Lee said as her son grew , she regretted spending her pregnancy in anxiety and negativity . She had vowed not to repeat the same regrets, if she was pregnant again. 'I prepared for my second child through in-vitro fertilisation during my marriage,' she added . 'The fertilised embryo was not implanted and, as time passed, the topic of divorce was raised. As all the legalities (of our marriage) were being sorted out, coincidentally, the time came for us to make a choice as the five-year embryo storage limit was almost up.' Lee said she made the decision to have the embryos implanted , even though it was done without her former husband's consent. 'I had always wanted another child, and I didn't want to experience the regret I felt with Jung-yoon again,' she wrote. 'I couldn't bear the thought of disposing the embryos as they reached the end of their storage period.' Lee said the only thing that kept her going through her difficult marriage was her son, who filled her with happiness, hope and inspiration. 'I had a miraculous child who made me feel like this life called 'motherhood' was the reason for my existence,' she said. 'I know there are a lot of challenges ahead, and I have had concerns about various scenarios, but all these aside, I want to believe that my choice is worth it.' Mr Cho confirmed to South Korean media outlet Dispatch that he was initially against Lee's decision, as they are divorced. However, he said he would fulfil his responsibility as a father now that his former wife is pregnant with their second child. 'We have been communicating frequently, due to our first child,' he said. 'We will do our best to fulfil our respective roles by discussing the necessary aspects of giving birth and raising a second child.' Lee made her acting debut in 2008 and rose to prominence in the hit K-drama Boys Over Flowers (2009) and the first season of reality variety show We Got Married in 2009 . More recently, she acted in Netflix apocalyptic series Sweet Home (2020 to 2024), receiving favourable reviews for her role as Yi-kyung, a firefighter and former special forces soldier. She is currently starring in comedy-action drama Salon De Holmes, playing one of the four housewives who become amateur sleuths in their neighbourhood while rediscovering their aspirations.
