The ball remains in Micah Parsons's court

Yahooa day ago
On Friday, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons made it clear that he wants out. On Saturday, owner Jerry Jones called Micah's bluff.
Jones brushed off the trade request as a negotiating tactic, lumping it in with the "hurt back" that has prevented Parsons from practicing.
There's a difference, as we see it. The back injury keeps Parsons from risking further injury while he waits for the contract he has earned. The trade request could be very real.
By calling BS on the trade demand, Jones is daring Micah to do something more.
So far, Micah hasn't. He could post another message on social media. He could address reporters. He could, in theory, leave camp.
For now, we know this. One, Micah said he wants a trade. Two, Jones said he doesn't believe it.
If Parsons doesn't prove that he does, Jerry's interpretation could become the accepted narrative. If it hasn't already.

Jonquel Jones, Leonie Fiebich and Emma Meesseman power Liberty to an 85-76 win over Wings

NEW YORK (AP) — Jonquel Jones had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the New York Liberty to an 85-76 victory over the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night. Leonie Fiebich scored 14 points and Emma Meesseman, playing her first home game for the Liberty since her return to the WNBA, added 13. Chants of 'Emma!' broke out at Barclay's Center following the victory. Meesseman, a former finals MVP who last played in the league in 2022 before winning the EuroLeague Women's MVP the last three seasons, scored 11 points in her season debut on Sunday in an 87-78 win over Connecticut. Paige Bueckers had 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the Wings' first game since Dijonai Carrington was traded to the Lynx. Dallas forward Maddy Siegrist scored 13 points in her first game after missing two months due to a knee injury. Arike Ogunbowale scored 14. Last week the Wings (8-21) beat the Liberty 92-82, a game that became a distant memory Tuesday night. New York (18-10) grabbed the lead out of the gate and held on to it throughout most of the game. Two free throws by Bueckers tied the game at 34 in the final minutes of the first half, before Stephanie Talbot hit a 3-pointer to give New York a lead it never gave up the rest of the way. Talbot reached double digits with 13 points while Sabrina Ionescu was relatively quiet, scoring nine points, three in the first half and six in the second. The Wings stayed close for the first three quarter before the Liberty extended their advantage to double digits as the fourth wound down. ___ AP WNBA:

Left-hander JP Sears optioned to minors 1 day after rough debut with San Diego Padres

PHOENIX (AP) — The San Diego Padres optioned left-hander JP Sears to Triple-A El Paso one day after a rough debut with his new franchise. The Padres acquired reliever Mason Miller and Sears from the Athletics at last week's trade deadline in exchange for a package of prospects, including highly regarded shortstop Leo De Vries. Sears gave up five runs and 10 hits over five innings in a 6-2 loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday. The 29-year-old has a 7-10 record and 5.12 ERA over 23 starts this season. The Padres recalled right-hander Sean Reynolds to take Sears' place on the roster. ___ AP MLB:
