Ensure success of CM's visit: Collector to officials
Addressing a press conference at the Government Junior College in Kothacheruvu on Wednesday, the Collector outlined the plans in place for the Chief Minister's upcoming visit.
He informed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh will be participating in the Mega Parent-Teacher Meet scheduled at the Government Junior College and Government Boys and Girls High Schools in Kothacheruvu.
All necessary arrangements for the event have been made in a meticulous and organised manner, he said.
The Chief Minister is expected to arrive in Sri Sathya Sai Airport in the morning and travel by road to the venue.
He will first attend the Parent-Teacher Meet at the Junior College, followed by a visit to the Government Girls High School to participate in a Mid-Day Meal Programme.
Collector T S Chetan stressed the importance of making the Chief Minister's visit a grand success through coordinated efforts from all departments.
Several media personnel and district officials were present at the press briefing.

Andhra Pradesh government forms committees for Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam
The State government on Tuesday constituted a series of committees for the smooth conduct of the Partnership Summit 2025, which is scheduled to be held on November 14 and 15 in Visakhapatnam. The summit will focus on setting a bold trajectory towards transforming Andhra Pradesh into a trillion-dollar economy, with particular emphasis on the industrial sector. Andhra Pradesh has previously hosted Partnership Summits in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2023. The upcoming edition is being organised in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as part of the State's broader vision under Swarna Andhra@2047. To oversee and guide the planning and execution of the summit, the government has formed a Group of Ministers (GoM) led by IT, Electronics and Communication Minister Nara Lokesh. Ministers T.G. Bharath, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Kandula Durgesh, P. Narayana, and Kondapalli Srinivas have been appointed as members of the GoM. The committees were notified through Government Order (G.O.) 140 issued in the name of Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand. The GoM will supervise a Working Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary and comprising key officials such as the Director General of Police, Visakhapatnam Airport Director, Commissioner of Police, and GVMC Commissioner. This committee will extend administrative and logistical support to the organisers. A committee chaired by the Principal Secretary (Political), General Administration Department, will oversee protocol, reception, accommodation, and transport arrangements. It will also manage airport protocols including customs, immigration, and aircraft parking. Security arrangements for VVIP movement, police escorts, and vehicular protection will be coordinated by a Security and Traffic Management Committee headed by the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order). The City Beautification Committee, under the leadership of the Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development), will take up beautification drives across Visakhapatnam, including road cleaning, installation of welcome arches, and upkeep of medians. Cultural arrangements, including welcome dinners, networking lunches, and performances during the summit, will be handled by the Cultural Committee, chaired by the Special Chief Secretary (Tourism). Media coordination, including press briefings and interviews, will fall under the Media and Publicity Committee led by the Commissioner of Information and Public Relations. The Exhibition Committee, chaired by the Secretary (Industries and Commerce), will take charge of setting up the Andhra Pradesh Exhibition Pavilion and managing other exhibits. Investment proposals and sector-specific engagements will be reviewed by the Investment Promotion Committee, headed by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. The Committee on Business Alliances and Development, also chaired by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, will promote business linkages, highlight investable projects, and facilitate one-on-one meetings between State officials and visiting international delegations. The Group of Ministers and the Working Committee will conduct regular reviews and collaborate with various Central and State government departments to ensure the successful conduct of the summit.

Minister Nara Lokesh taps Singapore expertise to build future-ready talent pool
VIJAYAWADA: HRD, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh shared a bold vision for the future of education and skill development in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking at a roundtable conference titled 'Skills to Competencies: Accelerating Workforce Transformation' in Singapore, he emphasised that traditional education systems no longer suffice in a fast-changing, tech-driven world, adding, 'The Fourth Industrial Revolution demands more than technical knowledge. It requires adaptability, innovation and complex problem-solving.' The minister affirmed that Andhra Pradesh is revamping its university curricula to include skill-based programmes aligned with global trends to meet these challenges, and is fostering a culture of lifelong learning. He announced the State government's readiness to collaborate with Singapore institutions like Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to establish skill-based universities focused on continuous education. Andhra Pradesh is also keen to work with Singapore Management University (SMU) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to integrate industry needs into academic programmes, he said. 'Andhra Pradesh is investing in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and IoT. The State plans to partner with SMU's Lab to develop AI-centric education and research programmes,' Lokesh emphasised. He cited Singapore's SkillsSG Ventures as a model for aligning skill-building with industry needs, a strategy AP plans to adopt through its Skill Development Mission. He revealed that the State government is also exploring partnerships with institutions like the National University of Singapore (NUS) for student exchange programmes, joint research and global exposure. 'The challenges of workforce transformation are global, and our solutions must be global too,' Lokesh said. 'By combining Andhra Pradesh's vision with Singapore's expertise, we can create a globally competitive workforce.' Tirupati readies for literacy revolution under ‘Ullas – Akshara Andhra'
Tirupati: In line with the Andhra Pradesh government's ambitious initiative 'Ullas – Akshara Andhra', aimed at achieving 100 percent literacy across the state by 2029, the Tirupati district administration has stepped up its efforts to educate a staggering 88,000 plus adult illiterates during the 2025–26 academic year. The programme, spearheaded by minister for human resources Nara Lokesh, is being implemented in mission mode with the intention of eradicating illiteracy in the 15–59 age group, where nearly 81 lakh people are still illiterate across the state. Tirupati district collector Dr S Venkateswar has set a target to educate 88,687 adult learners this year, building on the success of educating 12,085 people in 2024–25. In a recent review meeting, he directed officials from the Education Department, DRDA, MEPMA, and ICDS to implement the programme in a coordinated and foolproof manner. The programme focuses on teaching reading, writing, basic arithmetic, digital literacy, and financial literacy to adults, especially targeting women, daily wage workers, SC, ST and minority communities. Volunteer teachers will be identified, trained, and assigned to conduct classes in local anganwadi centres and community halls across villages and wards. The academic calendar begins with the opening of literacy centres on August 7, 2025. Teaching sessions will conclude by February 2026, followed by literacy examinations in March 2026. Learners will be prepared for the NIOS FLNAT examination, scheduled for March. The curriculum spans 100 hours, divided into 15 hours of audio-visual content, 40 hours of classroom sessions, and 45 hours of practice sessions. Classes will be held daily from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm in a hybrid mode (online and offline). Functional literacy primers (Books 1 & 2) and 42 digital video modules will be provided to teachers and learners, accessible via mobile devices. Special committees at the district, mandal, and municipal levels have been constituted to oversee the programme. The district committee, chaired by the collector, includes officials from zilla parishad, DRDA, MEPMA, women and child welfare, panchayat, education, public relations, and adult education departments. Similarly, at the mandal level, the committee will be led by the mandal parishad development officer, while at the municipal level, the municipal commissioner will head the committee. These committees will ensure implementation, monitoring, and coordination at all stages. Priority will be given to areas with low literacy rates, adopting a saturation approach to ensure full coverage. The Collector instructed the officials to give special attention to the programme and ensure its effective and timely execution.
