Scattered showers, storms expected in southeast Michigan, cold front coming
Isolated gusts in the region could reach up to 60 miles an hour and the National Weather Service is also warning of torrential downpours, with the highest chance of storms to occur between 2-8 p.m.

The risk of any rainfall leading to flash flooding is marginal, as is the risk for severe weather. The NWS is also predicting there's a chance for storms on Wednesday and Thursday.

Shortly after welcoming back England's victorious Lionesses the Prime Minister dropped into Swindon to announce plans to support small businesses. A cow rescue operation happened in Malmesbury whilst other parts of the town showed off their scarecrows and we have had lots of fantastic weather watcher snaps from across the county. Still smiling: Ian Holloway managed some of his usual chuckles as he faced the media ahead of the start of the new season for Swindon Town. Mixed bag: We have had rain and thunderstorms this week but also glorious patches of sunshine, which helped these stunning sunflowers in Upavon look great. Picture taken by Weather Watcher TAG. Celebration time: The Lionesses prompted wild celebrations at the Steam Railway Co. pub in Swindon as they beat Spain to win Euro 2025 on penalties last Sunday. Eye do: These hay bales, designed to look like newlyweds, were photographed by weather watcher Barnaby Bear. A mooving story: Firefighters from Malmesbury, a technical rescue team from Stratton and a local vet rescued a young cow that had become stuck in a stone culvert. Best of British: Malmesbury's scarecrow competition started on Friday, with this year's theme being 'Best of British'. Derek Tilney, 92, created this fine member of the King's Guard alongside his children Judie and Richard. Canadian wildfire smoke will continue to foul Michigan's air into Saturday at least
Canadian wildfire smoke continues to foul Michigan's summer air. A statewide Air Quality Advisory for all Michigan counties, initially set to expire July 31, has been extended into Saturday, August 2. Canada, plagued with major wildfire seasons in recent summers, currently has 608 active fires across the country, including more than 430 fires burning out of control, according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre. Many of the largest wildfires are occurring in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwest Ontario. Winds out of the northeast are bringing Canadian wildfire smoke over the entirety of Michigan − and high pressure and a stable layer of air is keeping the smoke near the surface and limiting dispersal. Many Michigan cities on Thursday, July 31, measured in the "Unhealthy" range on the Air Quality Index, a level meaning everyone exposed to the air may begin to experience health effects, and members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects. Among those cities with air quality ranking Unhealthy were Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Benton Harbor and Traverse City. Consider wearing a well-fitted N95 or KN95 mask if you must go outdoors. Keep windows and doors closed. Run air conditioning on a recirculate setting. Use a portable HEPA air cleaner. If it's difficult to maintain clean air in your entire house, consider making a clean air room. For any alarming new or recurring health symptoms, consult a health professional. Gorgeous weekend weather arrives after one of hottest Julys on record. Here's the weather forecast.
The weekend is here and we will be rewarded with absolutely gorgeous conditions, with morning lows in the 50s / Low 60s across the Delaware Valley. Daytime highs settle right in the mid-low 80s under a sun filled sky along with low humidity. Perfect conditions to get out and enjoy! The dry and nice trend lasts in to next week with our next weather maker possibly bringing us showers on Thursday but until then we can enjoy a nice dry stretch guilt free, as we are not in a drought situation around the Delaware Valley. In fact, many places need a dry stretch after drenching rain on Thursday. July ended up as one of the hottest Julys on Record, the warmest since 2020, including 21 days with the high temp hitting 90° or greater. That ties the all-time record for number of days in July.
