Qatar bag two more medals at ongoing Asian Jr Bowling C'ship

The Qatar bowling team won two new medals (silver and bronze) on Thursday at the 24th Asian Junior Bowling Championship, which Doha is hosting until August 2.
Qatar's Abdulrahman Al-Dosari won the silver medal in all-events category after collecting 3,960 points across all competitions. He finished second behind Kuwait's Nasser Al Kandari, who topped the standings with 4,037 points and won the gold medal. Malaysian bowler Mohammed Aqeel came in third with 3,921 points and won the bronze medal.
Qatar's Team B, comprising Hassan Al Muraikhi, Hamad Al Abdullah, Abdullah Al Dosari, and Abdulrahman Al Dosari, won the bronze medal in the 4-player team competition, finishing third with 5,052 points.
Qatar raised its medal tally in the tournament to four, having previously won gold and silver in the doubles competition.
The Malaysian team topped the four-person team competition, taking first place with 5,198 points and winning the gold medal, while the Kuwaiti team came in second with 5,196 points and won the silver medal.
At the girls' level, the Malaysian team won the gold medal after topping the competition with 4,775 points, while the Chinese Taipei team came in second with 4,563 points and won the silver medal. The Malaysian B team came in third with 4,456 points and won the bronze medal.
The medal presentation ceremony took place in the main hall of the Qatar National Bowling Center, which is hosting the tournament.
The Asian Championship continues Friday, with the first round of the masters competitions for both boys and girls.
The competition concludes the day on Saturday, with the championship prizes being distributed to the winners at the conclusion of the tournament.
For his part, Abdullah Sultan Al Qattan, President of the Qatar Bowling Federation, expressed his complete satisfaction with the results achieved by the Qatari national team during its participation in the ongoing Asian Championship.
Al Qattan said, 'We are very happy to win silver and bronze medals, which will be added to the medal tally achieved by Qatar during the tournament. The success motivates us to continue working towards achieving more medals.
'We congratulate our national team on this achievement, which was accomplished amidst extremely tough competition from the elite Asian bowling champions at the junior level. We hope to secure more medals in the masters category, and we are confident in the ability of the Qatari players to perform at their best in the remaining tournaments.'
For his part, Khalifa Ali Al Kubaisi, national coach of the Qatari bowling team, affirmed that the two new silver and bronze medals won by Qatar in the Asian Championship are an honourable achievement. 'We have succeeded in winning four medals in the Asian Championship so far, including one gold, two silver, and one bronze. This is a remarkable and commendable achievement, and we look forward to more, given the great capabilities of the national team members. We hope to succeed in achieving this,' he said.
Al Kubaisi continued: 'The tournament represents a great opportunity to interact and compete with the best players in Asia. We seek to maximize our benefits in line with our ambition to prepare a promising generation capable of achieving outstanding achievements for Qatar in the future.'
For his part, Qatar bowling team member Abdulrahman Al Dosari expressed his great happiness at winning the silver medal in the overall standings, stressing that this achievement was the result of the great work that preceded the start of the tournament.
Al Dosari said, 'I feel very proud to stand on the podium in the Asian Championship, which is witnessing very strong competition, but we were on time and won the silver medal in the overall classification and the bronze medal in the team competition. We hope to continue our good performance to achieve more medals in this continental edition.'

Asian Jr Bowling Championship Qatar 2025 concludes
QNA Doha The 24th Asian Junior Bowling Championship Qatar 2025 concluded on Satuday at the Qatar National Bowling Center. The championship was organized by the Qatar Bowling Federation in cooperation with the Asian Bowling Federation. Malaysian Muhammad Aqeel won the gold medal in the men's masters competition, while Kuwaiti Nasser Al Kandari claimed the silver medal. Hong Kong's Dylan Lam took bronze. The competition saw the participation of three Qatari players: Talal Al Marri, who came in fifth place; Abdulrahman Al Dosari, who came in seventh; and Musaed Al Marikhi, who came in eighth. The Qatari bowling team won four medals in the tournament, including a gold and silver medal in the doubles competition, a silver medal in the overall team ranking, and a bronze medal in the four-person team ranking. Sports for All Summer Under-18 Chess sees wide participation
Tribune News Network Doha The Sports for All Summer Under-18 Chess Championship, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in cooperation with Qatar Chess Association, concluded with the participation of 66 players of various nationalities. The tournament, held at the Qatar Chess Training Center, is part of the Sports for All Summer 2025 program, which continues until August 7. The final results of the tournament saw India's Sajan Abil winning the first place with 8.5 points, followed by his compatriot Josi Yohan in second place with 8 points, and Turkish player Calvillo Kerim in third place with 7 points. Among Qatari players, Khaled Al Jumaat, a player of the Qatari national team, finished ninth with six points, followed by Ibrahim Al Janahi in tenth place with the same score, tied with Hamad Al Kuwari, who finished eleventh. Layan Al Qassabi, also a player from the Qatari national team, finished 14th with six points. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, emphasized that the tournament witnessed significant participation from all age groups, especially youth, reflecting the popularity of chess as a mental sport that enhances concentration. For his part, Hamad Al Tamimi, Executive Director of the Qatar Chess Association, said that these tournaments effectively contribute to spreading the game of chess and expanding its practitioner base within Qatari society, especially among youth.
