World's First AI Doctor Clinic Opens In Saudi Arabia
The clinic aims to replace human doctors as the first point of contact for diagnosing and treating patients. However, humans are still involved in the system as "safety gatekeepers".
"AI Clinic is an innovative medical service system where AI doctors independently complete the full-chain medical operations from inquiry to prescription, with human doctors acting as "safety gatekeepers" to review the diagnosis and treatment results," the Shanghai-based company said in a statement.
How does the AI clinic work?
After patients arrive at the clinic, they describe their symptoms using a tablet computer to an AI "doctor" called "Dr Hua". Akin to a real doctor, the AI variant follows up with more questions and analyses data and images taken with the help of human assistants.
Once the consultation is over, Dr Hua provides a treatment plan, which is signed off by a human doctor after a thorough review. Human doctors remain available for emergencies that AI cannot handle.
Currently, the AI doctor is limited to providing consultation about respiratory illness, covering about 30 diseases such as asthma and pharyngitis. Synyi AI is aiming to expand the doctor's database to cover 50 respiratory, gastroenterological, and dermatological diseases.
The pilot programme's diagnostic data will be submitted to Saudi authorities with approval expected within 18 months. As per Synyi AI, the technology had an error rate of 0.3 per cent during a testing phase, prior to the ongoing trial.
"What AI has done in the past is to assist doctors, but now we are taking the final step of the journey to let AI diagnose and treat the patients directly," said Synyi AI CEO Zhang Shaodian.
The company, backed by Tencent, Hongshan Capital, GGV Capital and local government, claims to use localised large language models (LLMs) for the AI models, which is customised with region-specific medical language, local languages and cultural nuances.

What is Showrunner, the AI that can generate entire episodes of TV shows?
As the world is coming to terms with AI generating a few seconds of realistic videos, Amazon has just invested in a company that has a system that can generate entire 22-minute-long TV shows. The company Fable Studio has introduced a platform called Showrunner, which is capable of generating entire episodes with coherent plots, character development, and dialogue that sounds similar to any popular show. Showrunner is essentially the first streaming platform for AI-generated shows. Subscribers of the platform are able to watch AI-generated series and also create their own content. They will have complete control over dialogues, characters, and camera angles. As of now, Showrunner is limited to animation and cannot yet create live-action shots. The AI platform has been created by San Francisco-based startup Fable Studio. The Emmy-winning company's platform can write, voice, and animate episodes of its shows with generative AI. Users can create videos by simply using prompts in natural language. Reportedly, upon its initial release, users will be able to watch and create AI content. The Showrunner system uses something known as a multi-agent simulation that brings AI characters to life and lets them interact and develop relationships over time. Reportedly, users can insert themselves as South Park characters and become a part of the story. To generate a video episode, users simply need to write simple prompts that include the title and the main plotline. Reportedly, the characters generated through the platform show consistent personalities and are capable of remembering past interactions. Some reports claim that each episode takes nearly three hours of simulation time to generate. The company had conducted a closed alpha test with over 10,000 users for months before it was launched. In order to use Showrunner, users are required to sign in to the Discord group chat platform. It is reported that initially, Showrunner will be free to use; however, Fable will gradually begin charging creators about $10 to $20 per month, which will allow them credits to create about hundreds of TV scenes. Meanwhile, viewing this AI-generated content will be free, and users or anyone can share it on YouTube or other platforms. The new platform signals a shift in video generation with AI, as several other companies, such as Runway, DecartAI, Pika Labs, Odyssey, World Labs, and Google's Veo 3 and Genie 2, are paving the way for newer and more advanced video creations. Amazon's investment in Fable comes at a time when there is a raging debate about using AI to alter the endings of films and television shows. Recently, Bollywood filmmaker Anand L. Rai expressed his displeasure with the AI-altered ending of his 2013 hit 'Raanjhanaa.' The production house has offered an AI-assisted happy ending to the original story. 'AI is the future. Everybody knows that. But then use it for the future or for the present. Don't use it to distort the past!' Rai told in a statement to The Indian Express. This type of tech signals a new wave where users will be able to create personalised entertainment experiences with simple prompts. It seems we are moving into a space where all kinds of content will be created using AI customised to their personal preferences. Users will be able to generate episodes where they are the protagonists and have storylines tailored to their interests. Also, if this technology is to make rapid strides, the entertainment industry is likely to take a massive hit.

Nineteen tiger beetle species found in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve
Lakhimpur KheriBiodiversity-rich Dudhwa Tiger Reserve has been found to be home to 19 species of tiger beetle insects, with four of them discovered for the first time in Uttar Pradesh, a recent survey recorded. The survey was carried out under the 'Tiger Beetle India Fest 2025' organised for the first time by Tamil Nadu-based NGO, Rhopalocera and Odonata Association of Rajapalayam (ROAR). The tiger beetle is a fast, predatory insect known for its vibrant, metallic colours and agile hunting skills. It derives its name from its tiger-like style of chasing and hunting its prey. Vipin Kapoor Sainy, field biologist and outreach programme head at DTR, who carried out a survey in Dudhwa along with WWF-India project officer Rohit Ravi, said, 'The survey for documentation of tiger beetles in Dudhwa was just the second survey in Uttar Pradesh, with the earlier survey reported to have been carried out in 1980.' Sainy added that 'the survey resulted in the discovery of 19 species of tiger beetles in Dudhwa, four species, namely 'Lophyra mutiguttata', 'Rhytidophaena', 'Cicindela cyanea' and 'Cylindera venosa' had never been recorded earlier in Uttar Pradesh,' he said. Sainy said, 'The tiger beetle quest highlighted Dudhwa's remarkable biodiversity, reaffirming it as one of India's premier biodiversity hotspots, where even the smallest creatures like tiger beetles were celebrated and documented.' Elated with the discovery, Field Director Dr H Rajamohan said conservation was not restricted just to charismatic megafauna like tigers and rhinos but to the other smaller species. The discovery of 19 species under the Tiger Beetle India Fest reflected their commitment to documenting and protecting the lesser-known yet ecologically significant species, he added. Deputy Director, DTR Jagdish R, said the documentation of 19 species of tiger beetle highlighted the hidden diversity thriving within Dudhwa's rich ecosystems. The tiger beetle quest was not merely a science event, but a collaborative effort to draw attention towards arthropods often overlooked, he added. V Sharan, Founder Director of ROAR and organiser of the Tiger Beetle India Fest 2025, said he was sceptical about the event as not many citizen scientists or nature observers were familiar with tiger beetles. 'However, the amount of response received and the kind of information collected through the fest had highlighted its success,' he added.
