Lexus unveils plans for new model with incredible features: 'It's a big deal'

Yahoo20-06-2025
Lexus is going electric with its new luxury sedan. At the Shanghai auto show, the Japanese automaker revealed its plans for the 2026 Lexus ES, according to a report by InsideEVs.
The 2026 Lexus ES will offer both a fully electric and hybrid model in the U.S., and according to InsideEVs, "it's a big deal." However, what makes this announcement especially exciting is the sedan's competitive range. The fully electric model "targets an Environmental Protection Agency-rated range of 300 miles," notes InsideEVs, "which is impressive."
Another important feature of Lexus' new ES is its charging port. As the electric vehicle industry transitions to the Tesla-style charging port, the new ES will have that port, known as the North American Charging Standard. As a result, Lexus ES drivers will be able to take advantage of adapter-free charging at thousands of Tesla Supercharger stalls.
In terms of charging statistics, Lexus announced it takes 30 minutes for the ES to go from 10% to 80% charged when utilizing a sufficiently powerful DC fast charger. While other EVs offer better charging turnaround times, InsideEVs noted that it's still "solid" for drivers.
Switching to an EV is a great way to save money on both car maintenance and gas. In fact, you'll save $1,500 a year on gas and maintenance. Plus, some EV models qualify for a $7,500 tax credit.
You'll also be making an environmental difference by driving an EV. Although the manufacturing of electric vehicles does require digging up minerals for battery production, that amount of mining is nowhere near the billions of dirty energy dug up each year.
When compared to gas-powered vehicles, EVs have a much lower carbon footprint. A study from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that cars with internal combustion engines create an average of 350 grams of carbon air pollution per mile driven over their lifetimes. On the other hand, this value was only 200 for EVs that operate on batteries charging on the average U.S. power grid.
To maximize your savings further, consider installing solar panels in your home after going electric. With solar panels, you can greatly reduce your charging costs while also decreasing your home's environmental footprint.
To learn more about different solar options and quotes, check out EnergySage's free resources and save up to $10,000 on installations. Palmetto's LightReach solar panel leasing program will also install panels on your home for no down payment, allowing you to benefit from solar even if you cannot afford the upfront costs.
If you were going to purchase an EV, which of these factors would be most important to you?

Loop introduces Twist polyester resin brand made from textile waste

Called Twist, the launch marks a pivotal move by Loop to aid the industry's transition from linear production models to circular systems that prioritise sustainability and material innovation. Loop is engaging with apparel brands to negotiate offtake agreements for its anticipated joint venture in India, where Twist will be offered as the branded product. Twist is produced using Loop's proprietary depolymerisation technology, which breaks down polyester textile waste into its foundational monomers, DMT and MEG. These monomers are then purified to their original quality and re-polymerised into the Twist resin. This process ensures the removal of dyes, colourants, and other contaminants, resulting in a resin that is chemically indistinguishable from virgin polyester. Twist is claimed to deliver high purity, consistent colour and dyeing properties, and enhances production efficiency, ensuring seamless integration with existing spinning and manufacturing systems. These qualities make it an attractive option for apparel companies looking to address the environmental impact of textile waste through textile-to-textile recycling, according to Loop. In addition, the production process is estimated to save up to 418,600 tonnes (t) of CO2 emissions annually, with a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 81% compared to traditional fossil fuel-based resins. These figures have been independently validated through a life cycle assessment (LCA) study conducted by Franklin Associates, a division of ERG, stated Loop. The resin also has embedded chemical tracers that allow customers to track the origin of finished products back to the initial waste textile inputs. This transparency ensures verification of the recycling and manufacturing processes, fostering trust in the circular economy and raising the bar for accountability in sustainable textile production, noted the company. Loop Industries plans to scale up the production of Twist at its Terrebonne facility and at the upcoming Infinite Loop India facility. The latter is strategically positioned to cater to global textile and apparel brands, offering Twist at competitive prices without compromising on performance or sustainability credentials. Loop Industries chief revenue officer Giovanni Catino said: 'Twist represents a major step forward in closing the loop for textiles. It supports the textile industry's shift toward a circular model and provides a unique product offering which meets the needs of Loop's customers as we secure agreements for the offtake of our India JV.' Earlier this year, Loop Industries reached a consensus with SK Geo Centric (SKGC) to mutually dissolve their joint venture (JV) agreement to construct and operate an Infinite Loop manufacturing facility in South Korea. "Loop introduces Twist polyester resin brand made from textile waste " was originally created and published by Just Style, a GlobalData owned brand. Bosch Takes Majority Control of Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India

The company purchased 74.25 percent of JCHAI's share capital from Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Holding (UK) Ltd and JCHAC India HoldCo Ltd, according to a stock exchange filing made by JCHAI on July 31. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. German engineering and technology major Robert Bosch GmbH has acquired a controlling stake in Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India (JCHAI), marking a significant expansion of its footprint in the Indian home appliance sector. The company purchased 74.25 percent of JCHAI's share capital from Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Holding (UK) Ltd and JCHAC India HoldCo Ltd, according to a stock exchange filing made by JCHAI on July 31. Following this transaction, Bosch is set to make an open offer for the remaining 25.75 percent shares held by minority investors, in line with regulatory requirements. Once completed, the acquisition will give Bosch a prominent position in India's fast-growing cooling and home appliance market. Bosch already operates in India's premium home appliance segment, competing with global brands such as LG and Samsung in categories like dishwashers, washing machines, kitchen appliances, and vacuum cleaners. The addition of JCHAI's air conditioning portfolio will allow Bosch to become a full-range player, combining manufacturing capacity and an expanded distribution network. Industry experts indicate that while the German company plans to integrate the business globally, decisions regarding operational changes in India will be made after the open offer process, as JCHAI is a publicly listed entity. JCHAI, which operates under the Hitachi Cooling & Heating brand, manufactures a range of cooling products including room ACs, commercial units, and ductable systems. In the financial year 2024–2025, the company reported revenues of INR 2,756 crore, representing a 43.7 percent increase year-on-year, and a net profit of INR 58 crore. This marks a turnaround from the previous year's net loss of INR 75 crore. The company has also managed to regain market share after a decline to single-digit levels in recent years. Despite the overall market slowdown caused by early monsoon and irregular rainfall, which led to a 40 percent decline in industry-wide AC sales during the April–June quarter, JCHAI's revenue dropped by a smaller margin of 14 percent to INR 852 crore in the same period. The company faces competition from established players such as Voltas, LG, Daikin, Havells, and Blue Star. With this acquisition, Bosch aims to leverage JCHAI's product range and market presence to strengthen its standing in India's competitive home appliance market, while also positioning itself as a comprehensive solutions provider in the cooling segment.
