Anglesey man first to be jailed under new North Wales domestic abuse pilot scheme
A man who breached a domestic abuse protection order has been jailed. Tom Webster, 41, of Victoria Terrace, Holyhead, appeared at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on Tuesday June 10 where he admitted the breach.
A North Wales Police Anglesey statement said: "The order was granted at Llandudno Magistrates Court on May 19th prohibiting Webster from communicating with his ex-partner or being within 100 metres of her home address for a period of three months.
"However less than three weeks later, Webster was seen with his ex-partner in Holyhead on June 8th. Webster was arrested later the same day. He was jailed for one year."
Sergeant Chris Burrow added: 'Webster is the first person to receive a custodial sentence since North Wales Police joined the DAPO pilot scheme on April 28th.
'We will continue to apply for DAPOs going forwards where appropriate to protect victims from further harm. Webster's disregard for the court order imposed shows his disrespect for the justice system and I hope he reflects on this behaviour.
'We will not tolerate any form of domestic abuse and will fully support anyone who is experiences abuse.'

A North Wales Police statement said: "Warrants executed at two addresses in the Llandudno area have resulted in significant seizures of Class A drugs and cash. "Officers from the NPT [Neighbourhood Policing Team] and Clear, Hold, Build team conducted the warrants yesterday morning (Tuesday, 1 July), with valuable support from the Dog Unit. Mobile phones and an assortment of drug paraphernalia were also seized from the properties. "As a result of yesterday's proactive warrants, three individuals are currently under investigation for Class A drug supply. The seizures made by attending officers are the latest in a series of co-ordinated drug warrants in the West Conwy area." Police also say the Clear Hold Build team has also arrested offenders for offences such as stalking and harassment, public order, domestic violence-related assault, drug driving, burglary, breach of restraining order and criminal damage. Arrests linked to high-value retail thefts across Conwy and Denbighshire have also been made, whereby the thefts involved stolen items in excess of £1,000. A West Conwy Police statement added: "Anti-social behaviour is also being targeted, and youths have been taken home to their parents. Three youths have also been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and burglary. Six fail to appear/recall to prison arrests have been carried out by the team along with 25 stop searches. "Officers have been involved with three drugs warrants – the most recent executed at an address in Llanfairfechan whereby drugs, cash and mobile phones were seized. One male was arrested, and he has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue. They have also been involved in a joint drugs operation with British Transport Police colleagues." More than 1,100 illegal vapes seized on Anglesey

More info More than 1,100 illegal vapes have been seized from two retail premises in Holyhead. It follows a joint operation by Anglesey County Council and North Wales Police. The vapes seized during "Operation Jackal" had an estimated retail value of £6,500. Of those seized, 404 vapes were voluntarily surrendered by the businesses, an Anglesey County Council statement said. It added: "Following further investigation 42 vapes were returned as they complied with current regulations. The non-compliant vapes were subsequently destroyed. "The operation coincided with Welsh Government ban of single use vapes on 1 June 2025. Under the new law, it is now illegal for businesses in Wales to sell or supply any single-use or disposable vapes. All vaping devices must now be both rechargeable and refillable to be legally sold or distributed. "Beyond environmental harm, single use vapes pose significant health risks, particularly to children and young people. These devices often contain high levels of nicotine and appealing flavours, making them attractive to underage users." Anglesey Council's Planning, Public Protection and Climate Change Portfolio Holder, Councillor Nicola Roberts, said: 'Our Trading Standards Team continue to work tirelessly with North Wales Police, and other partner agencies, to help take illegal and harmful products off our streets.' She added: 'Protecting people from potentially harmful products is of utmost importance as we seek to safeguard the well-being of the public.' North Wales Police Anglesey District Support Sergeant, Chris Burrow, said: 'We will continue to work closely with Trading Standards and other partners to protect the health and wellbeing of the community, and especially young people. 'Multi-agency operations such as this show the value of partnership working and sharing resources to investigate and combat serious and organised crime. 'The supply of illegal tobacco products through organised criminal networks is often linked to other criminal activity, which is why it's important we continue to disrupt against the illegal tobacco product business. 'I would encourage community members who have concerns about suspected illegal activity in their local town centres to contact police or trading standards, or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.' Anglesey council and North Wales Police said they will continue to carry out enforcement activity to support businesses in understanding their responsibilities and to prevent the sale of illegal or harmful products in our communities.
