Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that the United States has a "great" relationship with South Korea, after Seoul and Washington reached a trade deal earlier this week following months of gruelling tariff negotiations. Trump made the remarks during a press availability, responding to a reporter's question about his anticipated summit with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, which he said will take place at the White House in two weeks. "We have a great relationship with South Korea," Trump said tersely, reports Yonhap news agency. The announcement came after White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the trade deal provides market access to American goods, including rice, which reiterated U.S. President Donald Trump's earlier claim on agricultural market access. On Thursday, the two countries struck an agreement under which the U.S. lowered its reciprocal tariff rate for South Korea to 15 percent from the initially proposed 25 percent in return for Seoul's pledge to invest US$350 billion in the world's largest economy and purchase $100 billion worth of American liquefied natural gas and other energy products over the next four years. The U.S. administration had reportedly pressured Seoul to further open up its rice and beef markets, raising issue with Korea's import ban on American beef products from cattle aged 30 months or older.

Kia India July sales rise 8% to 22,135 units
Kia India reported an 8 per cent year-on-year increase in sales for July 2025, with total dispatches reaching 22,135 units, up from 20,507 units in the same month last year. The growth was largely fuelled by the recent launch of the Carens Clavis and its electric counterpart, the Carens Clavis EV, which have helped sustain momentum for the Korean automaker in the competitive Indian market. The company also exported 2,590 vehicles in July, contributing to its overall performance. 'Our steady sales performance reflects the trust Indian customers continue to place in Kia,' said Joonso Cho, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India. 'This consistency is driven by our commitment to delivering high-quality and feature-rich vehicles that meet evolving customer needs.' Samsung officially confirmed the existence of its trifold smartphone last month, announcing plans to launch the device by the end of this year. A top executive has now offered insight into why the South Korean tech giant deliberately delayed the commercial release. According to JB Park , president and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, the company focused on a more fundamental question before rushing to market: whether consumers would truly see the value in such a product. 'The question is, will we tri-fold it, quadruple it, or why do we need to do it? The first question is, why do we need it? If you unfold the tri-fold or quadruple fold, how big will it be?
