Patrick Mahomes goes viral for saying he's the old guy who doesn't know any new songs

Patrick Mahomes
just had a major reality check and it's one every millennial will feel in their soul. In a brand-new T-Mobile clip making rounds online, the Chiefs QB revealed that he's now the guy on the team who doesn't recognize any of the songs playing in the locker room.
Yup, it's come full circle from when he was the rookie helping out
Alex Smith
. Now? Mahomes is officially in his washed era at least musically.
Patrick Mahomes shares how Alex Smith once leaned on him for music knowledge
Mahomes started off with a sweet nod to his former teammate and mentor Alex Smith. He recalled their early days in Kansas City when Smith, then the seasoned vet, would ask Mahomes to identify songs at training camp. Back then, Mahomes was the fresh-faced rookie with all the music answers. Now? Not so much.
'I was with Alex Smith yesterday and he was like my mentor. I remember the first training camp he was asking me about the music, and what this song was or who was singing it,'
Mahomes said in the clip.
He even laughed about how he used to be the one educating Smith and now the roles have totally flipped.
The QB is surrounded by teammates born in 2003 and 2004, and it's messing with his head
Patrick Mahomes confessed he's now playing with guys who were born in 2003 or 2004. Yes, these are grown men who never used LimeWire and probably think Usher is an actor from the Super Bowl commercial.
That age gap is hitting hard.
'So I'm listening to songs and having no idea who they are,'
he said
. 'I'm like, I'm that guy now! All of a sudden, I'm that guy that doesn't know the songs.'
For someone who's still just 28, it's wild but also hilariously relatable. Mahomes went from young king of the playlist to confused vet in the blink of an eye.
Fans are loving Mahomes stepping into his 'mentor' era just like Smith
The best part of all this? Fans are eating it up. Not just because it's funny, but because it shows Mahomes stepping into a new chapter just like Alex Smith once did for him.
It's not just about knowing the songs anymore; it's about leading the team, guiding the new guys, and embracing the generational shift.
He's still got the cannon arm, the rings, and the insane no-look passes but don't ask him to name the artist on TikTok's latest viral bop.
In the end, Mahomes might be out of touch with the music, but he's more in tune than ever with his role on the team. The moment is funny, nostalgic, and a little sobering for anyone who's blinked and realized they're not the 'young one' anymore. But if this is Mahomes entering his seasoned era, we're fully here for it.

NFL star Dak Prescott is quietly facing the biggest career reckoning of his Cowboys era

Dak Prescott faces his most critical NFL season yet (Image credits: Imagn Images) Dak Prescott begins his 10th NFL season carrying both a fresh four-year extension and the burden of unmet expectations in Dallas. While his contract runs through 2028, the calls for postseason success are louder than ever. In the eyes of many fans and analysts, the window is now — and the excuses are gone. For the Cowboys, it's no longer about potential, but delivery. Criticism builds despite contract and consistency One thing is that Dak Prescott always receives excessive criticism as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback and another that he is on the hot seat for the 2025 NFL season. Prescott's numbers speak for themselves — a reliable passer, a steady leader, and a consistent winner in the regular season. But in Dallas, none of that matters without January results. With every early playoff exit, the pressure intensifies. Critics now question not just his performance, but his ceiling. Dak Prescott should be a success story in the same vein as Tony Romo, as he went from being a mid-round pick to the highest-paid player in the league, yet he is still criticized more than almost anyone else in the NFL and this is shown by his inclusion in the list of quarterbacks on the hot seat 2025. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Gold Is Surging in 2025 — Smart Traders Are Already In IC Markets Learn More Undo His path is remarkable, but the shadow of postseason failure continues to follow him. Dallas is a market where patience runs thin and legacies are measured in rings. No matter how strong the regular season looks, the bar is always raised when the playoffs begin. 2025: defining moment or unfair narrative? Dak Prescott's inclusion on the list of quarterbacks who are considered to be on the hot seat for the 2025 NFL season seems extreme, but it is based on the following aspects related to the Cowboys quarterback. A loud LBW appeal followed, and the umpire raised his finger without hesitation, putting India firmly in command. Earlier, India posted a second-innings total of 427/6 declared, setting England an improbable target of 608 runs. The foundation was laid by skipper Shubman Gill, who followed up his first-innings 269 with a blistering 161 off 162 balls, including 13 fours and eight sixes.
