An adorable reunion between a toddler and his furry best friend has melted hearts online, gaining over 412,000 views on Instagram.
Mom Dev Erlich, 31, from New Jersey, shared the moment her 4-year-old golden retriever Skylar and her 2-year-old son Shalom saw each other again after a day apart.
The video, recorded on a Friday afternoon, shows the pair eagerly greeting each other through a glass door as Shalom returned home from daycare.
"It was a Friday afternoon after daycare—they generally are excited to see each other when my son gets home from school," Erlich told Newsweek. "However, I don't know what it was about that day but they were extra excited and my son just kept saying 'Skylar, Skylar!' I thought it was hilarious and took out my phone to video it as fast as I could."
In the clip, Shalom's face lights up as he runs through the door, calling out Skylar's name, while the golden retriever jumps up in excitement.
The text overlay said: "Besties reunited," while the caption added: "Nothing beats coming home to your best friend."
This isn't the first time a toddler and dog reunion has melted hearts online, in 2022 another dog was delighted to see his young friend when she returned home from daycare.

Are Dogs Good for Children's Development?
In fact, there is evidence that children who grow up with dogs or cats actually have stronger happiness, quality of life, and overall wellbeing than those who don't.
A 2023 study by Hawkins et al. found that children with strong, positive bonds to their dogs reported higher wellbeing, happiness, quality of life, greater social satisfaction, and lower loneliness.
While a 2019 paper concluded that pet ownership, particularly of dogs and cats, is associated with greater self-esteem, less loneliness, and enhanced social skills in children and adolescents.
The video of the moment between Skylar and Shalom delighted the internet, prompting plenty of comments from Instagram users.
"I can't. Both of them are so excited to see each other!" wrote @daisythegoldiee. While viewer @sundaythegoldenretriever said: "So much happiness."
Erlich shares plenty of content on her social media featuring Skylar the dog and her son, from sharing treats to napping together and heading out on adventures.
"My audience loves watching the bond between Skylar and Shalom," Erlich said. "I knew they would love seeing this sweet moment. The reaction has been great—we've gotten so much positive feedback."

Billy Joel shares health update after brain disorder diagnosis

Billy Joel is providing an update on his health two months after announcing he was diagnosed with a brain disorder. The "Piano Man" singer, 76, sat down with Bill Maher on the comedian's "Club Random" podcast in an episode released on Monday, July 21. Joel, who in May said he has been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, said he is feeling "fine" but having issues with his balance. "My balance sucks," he said. "It's like being on a boat." The singer continued, "I feel good. They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I'm feeling." Joel also said he initially thought his balance issues were from drinking, noting that he used to drink "like a fish." When Maher asked Joel if his health issues were fixed, though, the Grammy winner noted, "It's not fixed. It's still being worked on." According to the Cleveland Clinic, normal pressure hydrocephalus occurs when fluid buildup disrupts brain function, and symptoms can include cognitive difficulties. Billy Joel breaks silence on normal pressure hydrocephalus diagnosis, canceling concerts In May, Joel canceled his upcoming concerts due to the diagnosis. A statement shared on his Instagram said that his condition "has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance." "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period," the statement said. "Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage." Billy Joel's documentary reveals suicide attempts, influence of first wife on his career At the time, Joel also told fans that he was "sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience." Billy Joel documentary premieres after health diagnosis Since then, the first part of an HBO documentary about Joel, "Billy Joel: And So It Goes," premiered on July 18, with the second part set to debut on July 25. Radio host Howard Stern previously relayed a health update on Joel in June, telling listeners that he had dinner with the singer, who seemed to be doing well. "He does have issues, but he said, 'Yeah, you can tell people I'm not dying,'" Stern said on June 3. "He wants people to know that. He's just go to deal with some medical stuff."

David Beckham Was Left Genuinely Upset When He Accidentally Gave Himself A Bald Patch, And Victoria Beckham Really Didn't Help Matters

David Beckham had a bit of a hair disaster at the weekend, with the star accidentally giving himself a bald spot after the head fell off his clippers partway through a trim. Related: To make matters worse, David's wife, Victoria Beckham, didn't exactly sugarcoat how bad his new look was, with the former Spice Girl unable to hide her true feelings... And luckily for us, Victoria went so far as to film the immediate aftermath of David's mishap in a video that was later posted to his Instagram account. In the short clip, David is hiding the bald patch with one hand while looking genuinely upset. Victoria asks him: 'What have you done?' 'The thing of the clippers fell off my clipper,' the British soccer legend sighs. Related: 'You were trying to give yourself a haircut, and what have you done?' Victoria asks again, and at this point, David reluctantly removes his hand to reveal what had happened. As Victoria starts to laugh, David quickly covers the patch again and insists: 'It's not funny!' 'Let me see, let me see,' Victoria tells him, before joking: 'I mean, the hours of content the kids have got from this...' Related: 'The clipper head fell off,' visibly sad David repeats, and Victoria matter-of-factly replies: 'It does not look good. I'm going to always be honest with you, it looks terrible.' Posting the video to his 88 million followers, David wrote: 'ITS NOT FUNNY 🤨 So this happened yesterday whilst shaving my head and as you can hear my wife didn't find it funny at all 🙄 @victoriabeckham you don't always need to BE THAT HONEST - I quote 'It looks awful' 🤬 And yes kids have content @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven 🤨' Needless to say, his followers were quick to comment, including Victoria, who wrote: 'What have u done?!? 😂😂 your little face!!! U were devastated 😂😂😂' 'Oh my days 😂,' their son Romeo added, while actor Terry Crews joked: 'Join the bald club👏👏👏🔥' Thankfully for David, his mom, Sandra Beckham, had his back, commenting on the post: 'You still look handsome ❤️' Related: The star later took to his Instagram story to reveal that he'd reluctantly shaved the rest of his head to match the bald patch, writing: 'Update: it's the best I could do with the situation.' He then cheekily tagged his wife and asked: 'still awful??' Luckily, the new look worked for Victoria, who reposted the story to her own account and added: 'I'm into it!!!!' 'It Hurt Me To My Core': Mandy Moore And Kylie Kelce Detailed The Most 'Gutting' Things Their Children Have Said To Them, And It's A Brutal Reminder Of How Unfiltered Kids Can Be

Last week, Mandy Moore made an appearance on Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast. And during their wide-ranging conversation, the pair opened up about some of their most 'gutting' and 'humbling' experiences as parents. Related: If you didn't know, Mandy, 41, shares three kids with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith: August 'Gus' Harrison, who is 4, Oscar 'Ozzie' Bennett, who is 2, and Louise 'Lou' Everett, who is 7 months old. View this photo on Instagram Meanwhile, Kylie has four girls with her husband, Jason Kelce: Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and Finnley, who are 5, 4, 2, and 4 months, respectively. View this photo on Instagram Related: 'I like to share some of the more honest or humbling things my girls have said to me,' Kylie began before listing some of the insults she's received from her daughters: 'I've been told that I have a big butt. My oldest called me evil a couple weeks ago… Yesterday specifically, she pressed on my stomach and said, 'It looks like you still have a baby in there.'' Mandy then said that while her young boys already know how to butter her up with compliments, her 4-year-old is equally aware of how to hurt her. 'The 4-year-old the other day told me that he didn't love me anymore,' she said, while pulling a face. Related: 'That one hurts,' Kylie noted, while Mandy agreed, 'Truly the most gutting thing…It hurt me to my core.' Kylie later explained that her eldest daughter hits her with the 'I don't love you' because she saw it get a hurt reaction out of her mom once. 'My oldest says it because she did get a reaction — the one time I was like, 'Oh.' And I think she was like, 'Oh, that got ya,'' she said. Related: However, Kylie and Mandy made it clear that they always rise above the hurtful remarks. 'I always get 'em back with, 'Well, I love you with my whole heart,'' Kylie said, to which Mandy strongly agreed. Kids and their brutal lack of filter!
